well every form in tai chi has a purpose. It can be used to either block or attack. But this guy doesn't tell you about it because his purpose is to teach other for $ and for health/relaxation.
If you really want to understand the concepts in tai chi you need to find a very good master. Some are do the tai chi forms very well and it looks SUPERB but they don't understand the concepts behind it. They don't know why they do that form and how it can be used for self-defense.

took me 11 years to master tai chi very difficult form of martial art in my opinion for me its not difficult no more but it took me a while to understand the basics lol movement and form of motion

I done some of this exercise even if I didn't know what is the meaning.... Our body, our mind it is naturaly open when we don't censured them.
