In my opinion Skyrim has a greater atmosphere and will keep you busy for longer. But since it's very new and expensive for now, I'd advise you to get ME2 first, since you can get a copy for really cheap now. Maybe once you finish it Skyrim will be cheaper.

@Lexinho90 Both games are good, but Mass Effect 2 wins it for me. Mass Effect 2 is a RPG , and there's pretty much freedom. You can choose which missions to do first etc, the graphics are awesome, the gameplay/story is pretty amazing as well. And plus that Mass Effect 2 is pretty damn cheap now, I'd buy both ME 2 and Skyrim. But if you only can choose one game, pick ME 2.

I don't want to spoil anything, but I can say that your "base" is a spaceship, and in there you get most of your missions. From there you choose missions, but you can go to other planets and search anytime. Buy gear, upgrades etc. Many upgrades you find on missions. But you can walk around and getting new weapons/gear etc. Buying armor and everything of that good stuff! Np m8!
I bought this game for the PS3 months ago, I fell in love with it but if there is one thing they need to do better....It's those awful loading times in the elevator. Fix that please 'cause it completely ruins the pacing!
If the reviews are based on personal matters, and if the reviewer is very fund of deep story and can see past some technical issues, then this game would easily get a 10/10, but Gamesweasel is delivering an objective review where he puts his personal opinions aside, and thanks for that. I really agree that it would be so great to give Mass Effect a 10/10, because I loved pretty much everythin about it, but I see seen from a reviewers standpoint it deserves a strong 9/10, not a perfect 10/10.
@HadesHeras Yeah and flaws become more an more apparent with multiple playthroughs, although the fact that I'm playing it more than once is something that proves it's better than average IMO. Still the story is just so short if you only play story and the side missions are so repetitive and don't serve much purpose besides padding the game and offering nice rewards.

@jeribak101 For the PS3? Get MGS4. This game isn't as good on PS3. Framerate issues hinder it greatly. If you're getting it on the PC or Xbox360 I strongly recommend it. PC is a bit better if yo ucan handle it.

People always complain about the probing for minerals, but why should it come easy? If you want your team to be fully upgraded and all have a better chance of surviving later in the game then you need to work for it.
I found driving around in the Mako on ME1 tedious. The planet surveying in ME2 can be done with your eyes closed, literally.

Idk I didn't like this as much as fallout and the cover system was a piece of shit. The top of ur head is clearly sticking out to be shot at and it can be irresponsive and not reliable sometimes. I loved the rpg elements though and the shooting!

the only thing i didnt like about this game and its a very small detail, is that you have to reload your gun now. but other than that the game was totally epic
i agree the scanning of planets is boreing but you guys are forgetting that its part of the game its also optional you dont have to do it.
But if you want to get the best out of the game you do have to scan planets. Also the game devl. had to add someway to give you mets. and scaning the planet is the best way. Guys dont think of it as something like "sigh omg i have to scan the planet now *sigh*" think of it as "oh i dont want to die and i want to be all powerful fuck yeah!"
When comparing ME1 and ME2 you come with following paradoks:
ME2 is 100 times better in engaging you into the world and story, but the story it self is like 100 times better in ME1. Its like they focused to much on the details and forgot the pig picture.
And, bdw: its just stupid to say that probing planets for resources is better than fulling around with the maco ( except if probing uranus turns you on ; )

Idk I didn't like this as much as fallout and the cover system was a piece of shit. The top of ur head is clearly sticking out to be shot at and it can be irresponsive and not reliable sometimes. I loved the rpg elements though and the shooting!

only problem i had in this game was sometimes the cover system was a little irresponsive,well, only it happens less than sometimes, but is an incredibly very very very small price to pay. it is an incredible game, but i played a little better

Fallout 3 is better than ass effect 1 as an rpg.
This one is alot better because it stops trying to be a sucky rpg and instead a coll action game. Very good sequal improves alot!

huh? what wasnt perfect about this? i played through it in one session. i couldnt stop. saturday morning i bought it. sunday noon i was through and i almost wanted to play it again :D cuz i played it on the pc the load times were VERY short and ... that s it. no bad parts. this game seriously was perfect

@laxairsofter well you are missing out if you don't play the first one, but yeah they fill you in enough to grasp whats going on. Theres chat dialog options where you can say "hold on, whats going on?" lol

I'm sayin me2 jus cuz itz longer. Bioshock is a rent cuz once ur done the campaign it's boring. The multiayer is very thrown on and won't take u away from mw2 halo or bc2.

i agree the scanning of planets is boreing but you guys are forgetting that its part of the game its also optional you dont have to do it.
But if you want to get the best out of the game you do have to scan planets. Also the game devl. had to add someway to give you mets. and scaning the planet is the best way. Guys dont think of it as something like "sigh omg i have to scan the planet now *sigh*" think of it as "oh i dont want to die and i want to be all powerful fuck yeah!"

When comparing ME1 and ME2 you come with following paradoks:
ME2 is 100 times better in engaging you into the world and story, but the story it self is like 100 times better in ME1. Its like they focused to much on the details and forgot the pig picture.
And, bdw: its just stupid to say that probing planets for resources is better than fulling around with the maco ( except if probing uranus turns you on ; )
