I had to look her up after seeing her perform with Van the man in a video. It's one of my favorite videos because i love her performance. I have to say she deserves all the awards she has gotten. I hope she updates her website so her fans can keep up to date on what she is up to. Maybe she could play some bluegrass. I can't stand new country.

Roy Wiggins is a good non-pedal steel artist but I would'nt be putting him in the same class with Sarah Jory. She is hot on all steels, and very smooth and emotional. and the people who bitch about her voice just did'nt recognize her talent. She was a good country singer then, and probably still is, besides being an all around good musician. And out of the whole wide world, there are very, very few gals that can play pedal steel, and she is at top of the list. Bill Beckett.

What Van lacks in enthusiasm and showmanship she more than filled that vacuum.

It was at the Fox Theatre. I don't think Van plays bigger venues anymore. Sarah blew my wife and I away with her performance. We were in the back a bit and lighting was dim, and we really thought she was a "sister" the way she was getting her groove on up on stage. I checked Van's website to find out who she was. Very impressed.

I dug around her website awhile back. She started out with a lap steel at the age of 3 (probably with good coaching). She has since mastered the pedal steel guitar, slide steel guitar, regular guitar, mandolin and banjo. She is currently with van Morrison on his world tour. Wow! And of course... Ciao!!

BTW, I've been playing steel for over 50 years and I would put Sarah right at top along with the true greats. Like Alvino Rey, Buddy Emmons, Jimmy Day, Herb Remington, Jerry Byrd, Paul Franklin, Lloyd Green..... just to show the company she fits in with.
