  • So funky!

  • So indie

  • Tabs?! lol im serious.

  • awesome!!!!

  • I love this guy.

  • We know where guitar came from - Africa. What they can do with a 1 string "Diddly Bow" is amazing.

  • @clarkewi That's not even close to true. Guitars have been in Africa for less than 100 years. Pretty true about the Diddly Bow though.

  • @dicsballer9 My understanding is that the guitar came to Spain and Europe by way of the Moors who were North African Arabs around the 7th century. I know the "Diddly Bow" came to America by way of the African slaves - that has been well documented.

  • Erasmus only uses Avalon guitars and Infinity Polymer Coated Guitar Strings. Coated in high grade chicken shit.

  • @00crazyface how about posting a video? did you work out which string was missing? a few guys i know on a forum had a go and failed! post a video please!! :D

  • tabs please?

  • @guitarriff1988 ..are you serious? kid, i pretty sure he's just a dude in africa.

  • Who is the guy? I looked him up on google he's no where to be found,so i guessing he's not main stream or underground

  • @guitarriff1988 This comes from a DVD called African Guitar: Solo Fingerstyle Guitar Music from Uganda, Congo/Zaire, Central African Republic, Malawi, Namibia and Zambia. The songs are recorded by Gerhard Kubik from 1966-1993.

  • I've had the idea for some time to create a list of the most beautiful, heart-wrenching songs ever created, and I think this is #1.

  • For anyone interested, apparently the first song is about his sister, Angelika, warning her not to argue too much with her husband.

  • blues

  • The truth in music where it all began x

  • He looks so sad and plays and sings so beautyful....

  • What's "early" about 1991? Africans have been playing guitars for decades.

  • @lordkoos since time began.

  • @abby161919 lol

  • Nice guitar playing!

  • Can anyone tell me what he's saying??

  • omg .. bachata(genre from dominican republic) sounds a bit like this... must b african influence

  • Love it! Peace

  • And it rocks!

    Emerson

  • are those nylon strings? is that a wooden toothpick? what tuning is he in? if he's sooo bad...then what does it sound sooo good???

    ahhhh

  • @ModernModr It's amazing what you can do with a cheaply built guitar and bicycle brake wire.

  • mortel !! j'kiffe grave !!

  • very good!!!!

  • The rooster in the background just sets the mood so well.....

  • hey its good music for dancing..

    how are you man?

  • airfloydmusic

    i love black music,

    weather if it's teh blues,

or the mouth music, or the rythym

i love it soo much ya have ot listen to it!

  • what "black" music? I see no color

  • if everyone in the world responded like you did then we'd all be a lot better off!

  • music is music and there are only two kinds: good music and the other kind!

  • What a lovely song!

  • so so so so beautiful

  • Muy bueno!!...hasta el gallo parece un efecto!

  • Tienes razon, chevere no?

Morsaandroide refers to the rooster singing as part of the music! neat eh!!!

  • The guitar is made for 6 strings though. But is probably as broke as I was. sometimes I could only afford 3 strings, but we would jam on 4 strings till dawn... This is it.. raw organic and unprocessed...

  • Virtuoso three chord trick! I love African simplicity, repetition creates a hypnotic thread of sound.

  • espectacular, lastima que la musica africana no este tan difundida

pero el video es lo mejor q eh visto , es impresionante con una guitarra que le falta una cuerda , y buena practica y un hermoso estilo lo que se puede llegar a hacer

  • what we have today is just modified african instruments.africans were the source.its not a debate but just look for dance called sikuti dance, mwoboko and so forth mennnnn!!!

  • black music is the best and always has been because music and inspiration come out of hard times and poverty, things that the blacks have unfortunately have had a lot of

  • why would inspiration only be able to come from one situation and one particular race, inspiration can come from anyone and anywhere very wealthy and very poor, black, asian, or white, everyone is equally human and music is just human

  • This is the roots of American blues...

  • very exotic!

  • nice tooth-pick hehe this guys an inspiration

  • I bought this DVD a couple of years ago

thinking I could learn a thing or two

ended up just enjoying the hell out of it

  • Can you learn to play this music ?

  • this is quality music. Such an ethnic voice.

    Love it

  • Thats tight how there are guitarists in that part of the world

  • African peoples instruments inspired guitar, because during slavery blacks played a string instrument along with the drum that inspired the guitar. They also noticed Africans had a crazed about music.

  • right but don't forget the oud or the spike fiddle. Africans did have a major influence but don't forget the middle east or asian influences.

  • West African music is within a world of it's own.The middle east and Asia did influence the world, but not west african music.

  • You apparently have no clue of what you're talking about, lol. How about BLUES, JAZZ, ROCK, R&B, and RAP (as well as more 3rd world styles like REGGAE, DANCEHALL, SOCA and ZOUK-KOMPA in the Carribbean and Soukouss in modern Africa)? Where do you think they're all derived from? WEST AFRICAN MUSIC (Drumming and rhythm), any musician knows that...

I think the western world has stolen enough from us Africans, you could at least credit us with our music, please...

  • The guitar was introduced to africa by the portugese sailors in the 14th century. African music very much influenced modern day music, but please don't think you OWN it.. it's very hard to trace influences nowdays as they are so mixed and the word TO STEAL never comes into it. Get down off your high horse and enjoy the music.

  • That's exactly what I said, INFLUENCED, I don't even know why you're trying to argue with me if you're saying the same thing...Well to answer our friend Oramikleepunk, who taught that we didn't bring anything to the world musically, I want to re-mention the fact that it indeed influenced all the styles I cited above. That's a fact, so there's no room for arguments about that.

PS: Even before the Portuguese in the 14th century, Africans had their own fretted instruments like the Kora & others..

  • In the comment I replied to, you didn't use the word influence even once, check it again. You used the word to STEAL, implying theft. There's a big difference. I'm not arguing as you put it, I'm mearly saying that your comment was sweeping and general and should be re-thought and maybe toned down.

  • OK, vocabulary check: "influence" means "bringing something to the table". I didn't say these musical genres were solely "DERIVED" from west African music. Rock for example is a music evolved from Blues which itself is a mix between western European music and African music as performed by African slaves in the US colonies. When I used the word "steal", it's because your friend up there was trying to DENY us (Africans) this cultural heritage...once again, so my use of the word was justified.

  • haha he's not my friend, don't know him. and I didn't comment on his comment cus it's just so plain obvious that african music has had a huge influence on western music, and the influence has also gone the other way, western rock n roll etc influencing modern african music. I agree 100% with what you said in the first place, it's just HOW you said it that made me respond. I don't believe using the word to "steal" was justified in a musical context. can't agree with that I'm afraid. peace :)

  • OK, I see where you're coming from now...Well at least we can agree on a major point, that's good.

  • Also, I understand that African music had it's own fretted instruments. I just wanted to point out that it's not just Africa that has "INFLUENCED" the western world, musically (and I'm only talking about music here) it's a mixed bag now with musicians being inspired by many parts of the world. I learnt the guitar listening to Hendrix (you gonna call him a theif?) and now I'm fascinated by early african finger style and how it differs to 30's and 40's country blues picking.

  • Oh, by the way, the comment from" Staecyie" above was indeed mine,as you've probably noticed.

  • spinacino 17 grandissimi artista

  • Good music

  • WOW you were ahead of the curve as always
