The 2nd hit by Bruce was legal. Both of Princess America's skates were upright and her hands were not on the floor. Even though she was not completely standing up, she was in a skating position. Bruce's arm was in a legal position against her body. I reffed this bout, none of us thought it was an illegal hit. It was a remarkable hit and kudos to Bruce for her quick thinking to take her out again. If you look closely, Princess America was smiling after the 2nd hit, she also knew it was awesome.
Actually its not an illegal move. (well at least in 2.0 rules) As long as the skater was up on her skates hands off the ground, its all good. If you see in the slo-mo she is up on her skates standing up.
This must be under a rules set that did not consider hitting a skater while she's down (i.e. upright and steady, which PA was not before the second hit) a major penalty, and ejectable.
She was not skating in derby position and therefore, her center of gravity was off, and the opposing team took advantage of that, plus the fact that she doesn't seem that she was paying close attention to her surroundings. Also, since she did not recover fast enough, the other girl coming around the curve got low enough to take out her center of gravity. GOOD HIT girls!
Actually, if you watch the slow motion, Princess America is practically getting up as she's falling down. That's something she's known for. As a very small/lightweight jammer (read: easier to take out), it's one of the things that makes her great, along with her incredible speed and her "Thong of Power. Even after the second brutal hit, she's already getting up as she hits the track.

Yeah that was completely illegal, I hope the skater was called on it

it was in the fall of 2006, so under rule set 2.0 I believe, and yes, it was completely legal then.
