Both targets were heavy industrial cities that supported their war effort. The main target in Nagasaki was the Mitsubishi Torpedo plant right near ground zero. It has been estimated that a ground invasion of Japan would cost a total of a million lives from from both sides, military and civilians.

There is no right or wrong in war. No good or evil. There is no god damn justice in any of this. This is what happens when people cannot reach a peaceful solution. The US didn't even want to drop the bombs, but they had no choice. The casualties would have been even higher if they had sent in soldiers.

America may have ended the Japanese involvement in the war but they did not end the war with this attack. The war went on for a while afterwards with the European front.

In both scenes, the girl, or woman, is standing out in the open space under the arch of the walls, while Gen was standing directly behind the thick stone walls. For those thinking this was an attack specifiably against civilians, try doing a little research instead of shooting from the hip. Both targets were heavy industrial cities that supported their war effort. The main target in Nagasaki was the Mitsubishi Torpedo plant right near ground zero. It has been estimated that a ground invasion of Japan would cost a total of a million lives from from both sides, military and civilians.

There is no right or wrong in war. No good or evil. There is no god damn justice in any of this. This is what happens when people cannot reach a peaceful solution. The US didn't even want to drop the bombs, but they had no choice. The casualties would have been even higher if they had sent in soldiers.
There are no good guys or bad guys in war. The Allies were no heroes and the Axis were no villains.
The only thing left to do is try and get along, for the sake of those who died trying.

In both the anime and this movie, it may seem strange that even though he was standing next to someone during the explosion, only he survived. In both scenes, the girl, or woman, is standing out in the open space under the arch of the walls, while Gen was standing directly behind the thick stone walls. I am American, but the "you" and "I" speech is disturbing. Many if not most of the masterminds behind this tragedy are either dead or too old to do anything. I want to look at a Japanese person my age and not say "I bombed you" or "you crashed your planes into our ships first". This is the actions of a prior generation. One we must learn to never, EVER repeat again. (Speaking to both sides here).

it is indeed horrible. But just think how the civilians in the Phillippines and in China felt. One day they're are out doing what they normally do but instead of a bomb here come Jap troops beheading and hacking defenseless civilians. Throwing babies in the air and catching them on bayonets. Stabbing people so they dont use up their ammo. We do forget quickly dont we? People pick and choose the history that fuels their mania against certain countries. Be thankful Japan didnt have the bomb.
