This is the worship of pain and suffering. ANd unfortunately opus die members/initiates can point to scores of verses in the bible that espouse the honor and nobility and suffering or teach us to tolerate and even welcome suffering. "blessed are those that mourn" is just one example. What can possibly be "blessed" about mourning? People MOURN as a result of TRAGEDY or PAIN. Yet, rather than writing that those who SMILE or LAUGH are blessed, the bible says we are blessed if we mourn.

You cite Matthew 5.4 in a distorted take. It says, "blessed are they that mourn: FOR THEY WILL BE COMFORTED." It's referring to those who have suffered at the hands of this sick religion will be comforted. It's kinda hard to smile and laugh when you're being tortured and killed. So, in Luke 6.21, "blessed are you that weep now; for YOU WILL LAUGH." See Rev 6.9-17

@TheBlackRite - Your summation is close, but a bit distorted. The distortion of Hebrew Scripture is caused by the Religions you cite and their dogmas. Those Religions were founded on pagan doctrines. "Christian" dogma is Babylonian. Islam as well. Judaism is, as the others, a lack of right understanding by men. It's not clean provender that's the problem, it's those who have mucked it up with their feet. The Religions you cite are distorted and the problem. They'll soon be as you long for.

Self flagellation is a medieval practice, but I think it's had it's days. I think people should focus on reading the Bible. However, if one is struggling in a certain way then there is a website you can get this stuff. Not for me, but everyone to their own. And it is true some Catholics do do this stuff above and actually it doesn't contradict scripture just don't gouge your eye out as Jesus said for sexual sin.

If you really focus on the Bible, God doesn't allow "everyone to their own way" - that's what got people put away or killed on a regular basis.
