The reason why so many people want to escape from reality is because they are in pain. But by trying to escape from pain they cause even more pain. Being in the presence and accepting reality as it is brings up emotional pain. But it is good to feel everything that comes up. Accepting the truth whatever that is makes us whole.
When you feel pain next time: Shift your attention from your conclusions about reality/truth and its relationship with pain to this moment in which you do not conclude anything.

the reality is we are all ONE consiousness/god expirecing itself, there is no such thing as death of consiousness/god, just permentant death of the egoic perspective. no way to expirence the ego cause no body to expirence it in. so we are dreaming right now, when you die no more perspective from your body, back into reality of infinite consiousness that we all are
Humanity is created in the image of God, Humanity is a reflection of universal principles and patterns in Consciousness. Those who speak of consciousness in the East, (Buddhism/Taoism) as well as those who speak of God in the West, (Christianity) are in fact referring to the same universal essence
For SilentBud: Most gods are created in the image of humans. Only a few are given the shape of animals. This alone speaks against humanity in general. I prefer the animal gods. Christianity is the worst of all religions. They have tortured people throughout the centuries and they completely disregarded animals. Shameful. Humanity in general has not created anything positive. There are only a handful of really loving and caring humans on this planet. And they usually are not religious.

I agree with what you said in your last comment. But I like to call it universe. The word god has very religous connotations and it has to do with our own personal perceptions.

No matter how old the god is and no matter how popular she or he is. (Most gods are men, that alone says something to me). As I watched this guy I weas thinking he looks like somebody. Then it dawned on me--Dick Cavett!Dick Cavett would be exactly like this guy if he had about 6 times as much sense as he has.
I have never heard of this man. But I found him on youtube and am now watching some of his videos.

:-) You're welcome. I listened to a lot of cd's and dvd's and read a couple of his books before seeing him live. I grew up a lot through those mediums. Being in person with him live is not necessary to wake up. I will say that he is just as he seems-- very humble, real, not condescending, great at knowing how to speak to the level of awareness of the questioners w/out any hint of heirarchy, continually emphasizes that "waking up isn't special, holy, or noble".
