@stringanime oh, okay i my mistake i never saw the arcade version, i'm guessing it is probably 10 times more fun than Splatterhouse 1 console/computer version am i right.
@stringanime well scine you designed it i must ask to things first whats that sound you hear after starting a random groan grunt sound from the game was it real speech just given a creep echo if thats the case whats it saying. and secondally would you consider making the game in keyboard mode
@NarutoIkari That groaning globbled voice sound is from Splatterhouse 2 for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive,
Level 6. As for revisiting the programming, while I am not against doing that I cannot now. Busy making a music video about Dora the Explorer's death. I will announce the video when it is done right on this channel. Should be soon.
@95strider That's right. Well, it isn't much of an ending when she dies. If she dies, Rick can defeat the boss, and then it just skips to the credits.
@TheNintendo101 Encounters are Random. Aside from the Spikes in Stage one that you first encounter, and the last level. The occurrence of enemies is based upon pointer location. So depending on Where your Mouse pointer is, your game will be different. If you could replicate exact position of your mouse after defeating an enemy, you could potentially fight the same enemy a million times. Such a short game, I didn't think it mattered. Stage 2 is the biggest culprit, it has 3 enemy types & a boss
@Mikenova805 Haha. Awesome, you are fortunate. I've had that boss drain my full life with one attack. Suppose it's a good thing I am not selling these games.
@dsteward85 Thanks, yeah I was surprised how far from the source material that the developers went. I like realistic Graphics as most people might too, but give me cartoony over what they did any day. I feel that a lot of developers are lead too often by the demographic statistics of gaming. They don't understand that look of 3D representing 16 bit look, design and feel. Look at Contra for the 16 Bits, and then look at the HD releases, something's not right.
@LaoGahn Thankyou, I am trying to make games that require no Clicking, or at least use it very sparingly. I am tired of pointer game innovation being limited to Drag this and explode that.
@halloweenfan92 I thought about captin mozzerola, but then I figured I'd flex some of my creativity abilities and hav a surprise last boss that never was in a Splatterhouse but still fit. Wanted the 2X4, but I ran out of time making this, as is.
Just a FYI in case anyone found it out, but you can actually kill the chainsaw boss without bringing down all of it's health. I somehow managed to get him to cut his own head off while the bag was still on.
@NemesisTheZombieKing THanks for checking out the Mini-game. I remember thinking when I made Jennifer in the Sac, "When people hit it and if they knock it loose, and she falls to her doom, people are gonna cringe." It's the kind of Cringe I got when I first played the First one in the arcades.. A feeling of dread. Did you know your could knock the Bubble loose and she fall to her doom?
@stringanime Yea...learned that the hard way XD...I figured thats what you had to do cuz i never could react fast enough to hit the man eating tongue. I feel like captain mozerlla,dr west, hell chaos, OR WHATEVER the final boss was called made a appearance though. but was still a fun game...even though rick walked funny XD. I liked in the arcade the final boss roared with the music.
@vintagevideogamegeek thanks. Ha, I bet you can see the Alex Kidd influence. The Fist Growing in Alex Kidd was perceived as a 3D Perspective by my young mind. Wacky I know. I am no programmer, but I learned enough to make my games to demonstrate to Game designers that I want to get involved, and also it's just fun! I have been busy with Making Games on XBOX Live arcade, nothing like this though. My major game influences: TREASURE and Don Bluthe
@gingerfraggle Thanks. I always liked the spooky scary and a little creepy aspect of the original SplatterHouse in arcades. The White mask was simple and it contrasted well against all the gruesome things trying to get you. Honestly Paramount pictures has no case against the Egg shell shape Terror Mask, it only looks like the Jason Friday the 13th Mask if you ignore the differences. Now they go all extreme with Splatterhouse, it's like Wrestlemania meets God of War, yuck.
@mxdeadlykobra HAHA! No one ever asked that before...It really isn't much of a difference. If the Sack that Jennifer is dangling in reaches the Mouth of the Monster, you hear her Blood curdling scream and then silent, then the Boss goes into a Non-stop Frenzy to kill Rick. If Rick wins at that point the Ending just jumps to the Credits...I didn't want to make some ending that would be rewarding for letting Jennifer Die. So no one is missing out on anything, other than the Crunch of Jen's Bones:(
@yamato531@yamato531 Thanks! that's a great idea..We are always trying to innovate new gameplay ideas...This even might work on the Infrared Eye tracking game systems. The original idea was to setup "Intention" Hot Spots to control a game. We believe in the Future games can be controlled by zeroing in on where you want to go or where you want to do something. Look up " gaze eye interface " and you will "see" what I mean. O_O
thankyou... I figure, since so many people make gameplay videos, I should make my own about my own games...Who elde is gonna do it? This game as well as the MArio game are experiments...I have been animating a lot longer than Coding, so I sacrifice popular characters before subjecting my original cast to my game designs...I am always learn and willing to join forces with people who think we can turn a buck creating something together, whether it be game or Cartoon 2D or 3D.
Flash is a great environment for making good games with few coding. if you were good at drawing and animating, you could make games that blow you away. I like classic flash games. I got tired of these castle-defending games...
I read a book about game design and in it´s first chapter, it says that the first unofficial games of programmers often were remakes of other classics. It´s a good training and will help you to plan and execute things well.
Thank you, I am trying to do something unique. although This operates much like a point-and-click adventure, I never played an action game that utilized the genre.
eah, I have tried this on many CPU's apparently, some PC's/Mac's are incapable of picking up on some of the fast paced programming that rushes by. Some CPU's it feels dead on, and others it is impossible...I have been experimenting with Flash for a long time and I know that my content can expose weaknesses in my machine, whether it be processing power, I don't know, I just know that it depends on the machine how well my games work. Also, Laser mice usually can't keep up with this twitch action
Sorry to here that. Thanks though for your appreciation of this little game. In reality, very few Machines can smoothly play this game, and many of my other ones, their a little heavey on animation. The nice thing is that, as technology progresses and becomes more affordable. We all we inevitably update our hardware, so this could be viewed as a preview for many. When I go to computer stores I sometimes turn on my games to see how they play on their machines. Usually the out-come is 50/50
It sucks. You hear her cry out for help one last time, then "Crunch." also, if you punch her while she is inside the ball, you can possibly knock it loose and she falls right into the mouth. I wanted to create a situation that pulls at your emotions. 1 where you truly feel responsible if she dies.
Here is a trick...At the title screen, move the mouse over the "STAGE SELECT" and then 3 white eggs appear, the 3rd one will take you to the last stage! HAHA. Nice huh?
Yeah, I know, even without lag, a lazer mouse still isn't perfect for fast transferment of the point lacation. these play best with a Nintendo Wiimote believe it or not...The IR aiming, and the screen shrunk to the right size works great....these games point out the weakness of Lazer mice, a ball mouse would even work better ironically.
Thankyou. These games are intended to load fast and offer short bursts of entertainment. The small size 3 meg allows me to not only finish and start on new games, but make it possible to be played on a Nintendo Wii, which has a small Hard drive and will not permit my typical Large size animations. In the long run, it works out, because I like having variety and games that don't require more than 15 minutes to master and beat.
Thankyou. You obviously know Splatterhouse very well to pick up on the fact that it both is an original design and keeps in step with the Splatterhouse 1 themes. I although I liked the Large man in the Last stage of SH1, I wanted to combine that Heart Boss and the Size of the Last Boss to create something unique but not out of line. Thankyou
I am so happy that you made this. Its really fucking cool and has all the best monsters in it from the old game. Yet it has the best music from the third game.
Thankyou, we are glad you liked it. We tried to make a small selective collection of enemies that we all agreed were some of the spookier enemies we liked. Obviously the last Boss never was in a Splatterhouse, we just wanted to put a suprise boss at the end.
If it is real choppy, it's a Processor issue. You can stage select to skip the Boreworm Boss, just go to "Stage select " on main title then click on any one of the little EGGS that appear. 1st one jumps right to the Boreworm, 2nd goes to second stage and 3rd egg leads to last stage.
Thanks, at least I can say he's "my" version of Rick. If Namco want's to buy it off me, I would be happy to disguss it with them. I suppose this means you wont be at that meeting.
Thanks, obviously I don't make these things for people who think the games look stupid. I make what I make. When I first saw Splatterhouse in the Arcades, it looked Real because back in the 80's photorealistic stuff wasn't around in games much. now looking back at the game I see a stylized anime feel about it. rather than copy the exact sprite, I thought I'd embrace my creative license. Glad you like it. I hope to make a bunch of free mini-games like this on my site. Wario Ware is an inspiration
Well... The game it self isn't at 100% serious. I don't like that Ricks body are so over musceled. Like he been on steroids for 10 years. And that he looks around every time. Other thing it's nice
Yeah, I exagerated the rotation of his body and face to show off my animation abilities. I am an animator without a programmer. I try to make my animations stand out, to make up for the lack-luster programming. Thanks for the input though!
Exactly. However the Splatterhouse Series has strayed from it's roots and become something else. But you are right, This is Jason, but as the Good Guy.
Thankyou My game use a point and Click game engine. Kinda like those point and Click adventure games like Pajama Sam, Putt Putt, Spy Fox, Freddy Fish etc....Except this is more on the action side. Highly experimentive and I am just trying to make games that are Fun Free and unique
Flash is just the software that presents the art. True: I did draw all this straight in flash, but that is because I like to save time. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or even MicroSoft Paint images could be used. Hey you could even draw everything, scan it in then import straight to Flash. Now the Programming is an entirely different story. A wise Programmer once told me ",Frankie,if you are doing the programming, who is doing the art?" He was right. My Action Scripting is easy and light.
There are two scenerios 1: if you punch the Ball holding Jennifer, you could knock it loose and she falls to her doom 2: avoid hitting the ball, as I did here, and defeat the boos... unlike Splatterhouse3, there is no time limit, this is just a minigame with a lot of visuals. so this is the good ending; the bad ending only shows the credits.
There is a level select at the Title screen. If you play level 3, and punch the ball repeatedly after it is exposed, you will knock Jennifer into the belly of the beast. That is all you see, then the beast will attack constantly. If you defeat the beast, the only difference is you don't see Jennifer and Rick together, and the credits just roll. It's actually a "Lack of ending" instead of a "Bad ending." The bad part is when you watch Jennifer get lowered or knockd into the mouth. She GONE!
Glad to here it. Hope you will try our future Flash mini-game projects. The games aren't Splatterhouse related, but the artists and game designers are the same. Thanks again, your support is appreciated
Funny!!!

Rick looks very stupid in this.
terminegger 3 years ago
Thanks, at least I can say he's "my" version of Rick. If Namco want's to buy it off me, I would be happy to disguss it with them. I suppose this means you wont be at that meeting.

I dont think Rick looks stupid at all, in fact i like the cartoony art style! Good work dude!

Other thing it's nice
jokeersuper 3 years ago

Splatterhouse flash style. I am an artist but man I would like to learn to use Flash to do something like this.
mechaart 3 years ago
Flash is just the software that presents the art. True: I did draw all this straight in flash, but that is because I like to save time. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or even MicroSoft Paint images could be used. Hey you could even draw everything, scan it in then import straight to Flash. Now the Programming is an entirely different story. A wise Programmer once told me ",Frankie,if you are doing the programming, who is doing the art?" He was right. My Action Scripting is easy and light.

WOW, this is good enough to be an actual game, very awesome. Where did the clips from the start of level one come from, with the monster groans?

Could you tell me how you managed to get the rips of the arcade music so perfect? (Or even better where I can get them :P)

What happens if you don't beat the final boss fast enough?
RagingBanebou 3 years ago
There are two scenerios 1: if you punch the Ball holding Jennifer, you could knock it loose and she falls to her doom 2: avoid hitting the ball, as I did here, and defeat the boos... unlike Splatterhouse3, there is no time limit, this is just a minigame with a lot of visuals. so this is the good ending; the bad ending only shows the credits.
stringanime 3 years ago
Could I see the bad ending, please?
RagingBanebou 3 years ago
There is a level select at the Title screen. If you play level 3, and punch the ball repeatedly after it is exposed, you will knock Jennifer into the belly of the beast. That is all you see, then the beast will attack constantly. If you defeat the beast, the only difference is you don't see Jennifer and Rick together, and the credits just roll. It's actually a "Lack of ending" instead of a "Bad ending." The bad part is when you watch Jennifer get lowered or knockd into the mouth. She GONE!

Oh...thanks for telling me the ending. ^_^

Awesome!!!!! I've been waiting for ever to get to play this flash game.

Glad to here it. Hope you will try our future Flash mini-game projects. The games aren't Splatterhouse related, but the artists and game designers are the same. Thanks again, your support is appreciated
