I actually think the easiest way to access BBC iPlayer, Hulu, etc. outside of the UK is to actually use a VPN (virtual private network). Quick, easy and painless. :)
I use VPN Authority . IMO, it's good because it's cheap, fast, reliable and doesn't require this MASSIVE headache to setup (a la above). :)
Not really sure what your method was? Use words or text? ----- ----- is a cool thing and ------- has some interesting lists of proxies by country. Just sayin' Guess the blanks. You will have to figure it out like I did

I cant believe that this is as good as it is. Ive lived in Los Angeles for 23 years and have had to make do with BBC America and iTunes. But not any more. SBAs VPN service gets tv shows from BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky the same day as they show in Britain. Audio and video quality are great. Being so far away, I thought that the video feed might get choppy, but in an hour of watching Graham Norton there was not one interruption. I can highly recommend SBAs VPN service.
I have been using this for the last few days for the BBCiPlayer and briefly for ITV. The ease of connection and speed in using both are really good. I can recommend this way of viewing TV. I live in France.
Ofcourse you can here ITN news in the background.!!!!!! Surely thats a good thing If I am telling you I can get UK TV in France or Outside the UK . It might just not be such an odd thing that I have English TV going ON .....Some people does he really think I went to the trouble of fitting french power points in my wall and french telephone sockets in my wall to do this
