I sang this in my high school choir. So lovely! Wish I could find accompaniment for it now. I'd like to sing it as a solo, although it would never be the same as with a whole choir!
@AlinaTowers the choir i'm in also thinks that it would be great if we were to sing this.. do you have by any chance the sheets? i'd be very grateful :) (and all the other members of the choir!)
I remembered first singing this song with all the other choir members last year to everyone who was graduating. I'm graduating this year and I got to hear everyone sing this to my class. I'll admit it made me cry. :'(
every year at the last concert of the school year all the seniors that were in choir get up and sing this, they learn it every year they're in choir they learn in again until they finally perform
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. The sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. May the Lord bless you and keep you, May the Lord cause His face to shine upon you and give you peace.
this is my choir's song that we sing at the end of each year. i love this song. im just learning it this year since im a freshman, but its so beautiful <3
First hit I got when searching for the melody of this song for my husband was actually a site listing the sheet music. Hope that helps, pathwandering. :-)
Thanks for posting this, Chan0the0Man. Beautiful arrangement and the lyrics were a particularly nice touch!
i wish i could go back in time and see the medieval time and other times in history

If some day someone finds a "teleporter" or a "time Machine" i want to be one of the first to try it!
I graduated from high school in 1974 but clearly remember this piece because it was my favorite from my high school chorus days. This is a very pretty rendition and photo.
Umm... I don't mean to be a nag and I hate people who say this, but I've recently sung this song with my vocal class, and I noticed the lyrics a different from the song played. It might be that it is a different version, but I just thought you should know.
We visited this castle when we were in Ireland. The view back down the hill is amazing when you are standing in the grave yard. What an amazing place. I didn't want to leave.
the lyrics was on one powerpoint slide at uni, and that was the day i found out my enrolment was cancelled due to my academic grades. that was a fucking powerfully influential day
We always sang this song @ graduations except our version wasn't upbeat like this one... it had a more solemn & sad quality to it. You COULD NOT resist crying your eyes out. Lol, I LOVE this song & i hope it stays w/ me 4ever. =)
I love this song I remember singing as the closing performance when i was part of the OCC (Orlando children's choir). It was a big hit when we preformed in nashville
I discovered this for the very first time this morning and fell in love with it. Sounds a lot like the Lutkin Benediction, only nicer. I'll be searching for the score. Thanks for posting this song.
Whalen--me too! I sent it to my friend and choir buddy (from over 20 years ago)... I loved singing this song.... Pathwandering, I can't promise that I still have it, but I will look...
@pathwandering Hard copy available for ordering on the J.W. Pepper choral music website. (do a search for "Old Irish Blessing" and then find the Agay arrangement). This will include the piano accompaniment and all choral parts. I sang this in high school, and I'm going to buy myself a copy!
they sang this song at our school's graduation as well. i swear it sounds exactly the way they sung it. it wasn't my graudation, i was just working there. i still have one year left!

This is a beautifully sung recording! Thank you for sharing it!
Our choir also sings this song to close each performance -- it is simply heavenly to sing and feel the voices swelling around you.
(My sheet music shows that the music is by, Denes Agay. We got ours through WB Music, though it may be years ago....)
arcticwolfsong 10 months ago
@arcticwolfsong
Yes. This Song is by Denes Agay. I Just got the sheet music for one voice but not for choir -.-
I don't know, if the choir arrangement is by Denes Agay, too. But unfortunately you can't buy the score at the internet... just 15 at one time...
By the way: I love this song too.... It's so beautiful.
