4850 is equal to gts250 which is 4 gens ahead of the 8800gt...which is alot more powerful than 7800gt which is equal to ps3's rsx

I must say, i'm inclined to agree, I'm an avid PC gamer, I own several last gen consoles, i've tried the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and I can't get over the technology gap between consoles and PC, the PS3's graphics card is about three years old, and it has a very low processing speed, the only selling point is that it plays bluray, the Xbox isn't much better, wereas consoles are limited, a PC can be upgraded and advanced easily, making the overall gaming experience so much sweeter.

when i used windows vista everygame (team fortress 2, left 4 dead) dropped to 40 fps on huge fights. In windows 7 it's ok on most games (never had a fps drop on tf2 since i installed w7) but some games still get those drops like FUEL, Prototype, street fighter 4 (only on Ryu's ultra, in that zoom, 20 fps on that if i put 4xAA, 60 in 0xAA)

The Emotion Engine consists of eight units not 1 virtual. I have seen a twin SLI PC running CoD 5 and only just looked as good as PS3. So thats 4 x nvidia/ati cards cmon thats ridiculous, for the price I could buy 2 PS3's. and the i7 still doesnt have as much raw processing power and you know it

was lookin for numbers and yes like we all know cell = 75g i7= 35g rates but i7 was built for gaming and multi tasking as the cell is focused on hd content and data withdrawal from drives.

a 4890 is equivalent to the gtx 280 in the link i posted earlier.

i bought it for 200 bucks. nvidia coz of the physics thing means u dont need a good one so about 50 bucks. 250 on graphics and non on sound because the card itself has lossless sound integrated.

like the link, for now the pc has better graphics but the ps3 is only now being accessible to devs. so future games will definitely be worth waiting.

I'd hate to say it, but it's the engine. I think this was built on the Unreal engine. Hence, the PhysX requirement. An engine which is known to do ingame texture streaming. Only some fictional mysical creature knows why they opted to do this. It's only beneficial to make those "slow" consoles work better.

well if both have the resolution of 1680*1050 go with the 20 inch;you would have the same framerates as on a 19" moniter but a bigger (widescreen) moniter.

you could even find a 22" for about $10 more (i have one myself, and i love the widescreen 16:10)

well having an old crt moniter (vga only) is worse for your eyes than anything else. crt moniters (the BIG ones that take up half a desk) are like lights; they flash color, fade and flash another color. Don't worry about small text; it will be a welcomed change after a while

Think about this:

your old VGA at highest could run 1280x800 (something like that) and is say.. 17".

A new moniter would give you that same resolution and HIGHER @ 22". So if text size bothers you, you can make the changes

It lags mainly because of his other components and because of fraps; it's not a GPU fail like you said.  Put a 4850 in a Core i7 system with 6GB ram and you'll see Mirrors Edge fly, albeit without physx lol. :P

Can the physx be enabled with an ATI graphics card? Cause I think Nvidia owns the physx feature that enables some objects in the environment like plastic sheets, glass debris or fabrics in the game.

BTW dont feel bad. The Physx effects are really pointless. Some moving Flags wow...

If you really want physx with your ATI card you can do this..

Have a Motherboard with 2 PCI-E x16 slots. Put the ATI card in the Main one and a low end Nvidia card(8600gt)in the other. The motherboard does not need SLI or Crossfire. Now to do this properly you need windows XP or Windows 7.Install the drivers for both of them and physx will work.
