hope we won't get this with any delays in poland.... yeah..wishful thinking ...the last what we got in cinemas was Generations.. damn 14 years ago....
I seem to like Enterprise and The Next Generation best. I also love Picard's flute play in the beginning. The episode with the piano duet was quite nice.
Dude why don't you shut up! that was a great video. And stop being a fucking pansy! Just say it... Jesus Christ you dumb bastard. If you can't say it just don't say a word you whore.
Hands up who remembers watching the beginning of an Enterprise episode for the first time and said, "Why the fuck have they murdered the legendary Star Trek theme music?"
Are you saying that Enterprise was the second to have lyrics or that "The Next Generation" had the worst theme music of all? For a start, the first series didn't have lyrics, it had a monologue as did TNG.
"For a start, the first series didn't have lyrics,"
As a matter of fact, the original theme DID have lyrics, written by Gene Roddenberry to get half the royalities from the song. They were not performed on the actual song though.
the music was nice and I liked the way you stepped through the captain but you missed out the Enterprise-B Captain John Harriman... Still nice though. I wish we did not have to wait 12 months for the next Star Trek Movie. then once we have seen that... is it going to be years again before the next. what we need is a new star trek series... cmon paramount, theres plenty of story lines you could use... time travel... from a klingon perspective... The first colony to be made in space...

Several of the comments posted indicate the commenter's value of technicality over the spirit and humanity of things - if this applied in any way to ST, then JTK would have been stripped of command long before his adventures became legendary, and no production of ANY ST story would be possible (you do realize that there is no technical reality to this, right?).
Roddenberry's vision was one of love for humanity and faith in it's light and worthiness of continuation. He did not shackle himself with technical correctness at the expense of his vision.
DPM08 (3) 1) GR believed that the inner light of humanity would ultimately transcend mundane conflict and enable peaceful cooperation and expansion, 2)GR carried the vision of an entire civilization and was successful to a very large extent in communicating to that to millions of others over successive generations.
From a certain point of view, I consider "Inner Light" to be the ultimate ST story, in which an entire civilization ultimately comes to rest in the mind of one man of vision. I am not a scholar of ST or of Roddenberry, but it is quite clear that two things are embodied in the entire ST concept:

If you understand the song of the Ressican Flute, then you understand the true essence of STAR TREK...it's no more complex than that..well done, friends!
Alright, it started out okay, but then turned into a hoke-fest. What was Siako and Janeway doing here!? They have nothing to do with the Enterprise or her first crew!
I love 3 of the Star Trek Series (TOS, TNG, ENT) and like the other 3 (TAS,DS9,VOY,). I love 8 of the Star Trek Films (I-IV, VI, VII,VIII,X) and like the other 2(V,IX).
I am looking forward to the new film, because to me, it will either validate the theory that the crew are characters to be played, ie, the subconcious in all humans, or mere desires of the original actors.
fisnationstate you have a great list of comments here still the problem i have is the poorly written death of Kirk (to me Star trek died with him and became more action/horror) because of that and BIG canon problems i just dont see one Startrek universe (there are two ''first'' Enterprises now even you call Artcher the ''first'' captain) StartrekV and VOY,WWIII,TAS not canon in TNG era etc....i see 3 universes with there own rules and history
I heard that Captain Christopher Pike will be part of the story. Sadly that William Shatner won't be in it as older Kirk. I'm really starting despised of J.J. Abrams taking over Star Trek. Rod Roddenberry or Manny Coto or someone else that have a lot experience with Star Trek should continue the franchise not this outsider, J.J. Abrams that never have done a Star Trek production with Gene Roddenberry, Rick Berman, Michael Piller, Jeri Taylor, or Brannon Braga.
80% of the people you mentioned have botched Trek and lost their way. Its become about technobabble, space fights, and insanely childish stories that have no solid coherence (there are websites devoted to the blasphemy of Enterprise, not only to the other series, btu to itself.) Not to mention that Berman and Braga have made themselves more and more clear that they dislike the original crew.
No, Enterprise did not fail. You and the Trekkies fail Enterprise because you all were too damn stubborn not accepting it to be part of the canon and now Star Trek will get this stupid remake treatment because of that. You all keep saying Berman and Braga screwed up everything about Star Trek and saying they dislike the original crew but to me that is full of bullshit and that is just being fanboyish to me.
Paramount believes that the fans turn their backs on Star Trek and now they think starting over the franchise is a good direction for Star Trek but for me it is stupid. The new film won't be a prequel. It will basically be a remake of the original crew and starting over and that really pisses me off because I want the current universe to continue where Voyager, Nemesis, and Enterprise left off before it was cancelled not where this film is taking us.
The fans are the show. Maybe you forgot that? It was the fans that pushed for the series third season in the 60s, it was the fans who got that movie made. Had the fans not been there to begin with Trek would not have lasted the fourty years it had. The fact that its getting a fresh treatment is GOOD. eighteen years of the same people crafting the same ridiculous stories over and over again, never bothering to be truly bold, never breaking formula for the sake of drama or story telling.
Braga, Berman and most of the creative writers for the last three shows have (at a growing pace) lost their way, and lost the fundamentals of Trek. Going back to the roots and starting fresh will remove all the continuity shackles from the writers and allow them to truly tell a solid story with a universe refreshed and brought back to life. The way Gene intended it, a story of humanity and exploration therein, without the shackles of SCIENCE.
Uhmm, you have obviously forgotten that Mr. Roddenberry was an AETHIEST. As far as he was concerned there was no human behavior beyond the explanation of science. It might be BAD science, but it was still completely explainable. TOS "Patterns of Force" is a perfect example, we all look at NAZI Germany as perfectly evil, and Kirk looked at it as evil as well, but even Spock had to admit it was scientifically efficient.
That being said, Roddenberry also believed in humanity's ultimate goodness. That eventually we would recognize our mistakes, and seek to correct them. And ultimately, that what took us "Out There" was to find New world and new civilizations.
What took us out there was our need to understand, you're getting to quotantagious, like most Trek fans. His idea was to explore TODAY with TOMMOROW. Letting an "ideal" future bring us together. Ironically after he died Trek fans have been splintered. His words speak volumes, but everyone has their own idea of what "he wanted", reading his own words, it is clear that Star Trek was about Characters, Drama, Adventure and speaking about current issues in a science fiction guise.
Exactly. I truly agree with you on the current issues, the humanity part of star trek and the "tiresome scientific explanation". Many TNG episodes such as I Borg, Suddenly Human, The Outcast, and many others try to explain the problems of today's society and use it in a future's plot.
How would a present problem be viewed in the future when aliens try to learn to accept another race's culture?
DS9 started to move away from Gene's vision; although it did seem to tackle the morality issue in some episodes, and I do like the idea of enough exploring and settling in one place. But it didn't really catch my interest, not as much as a sci fi series that aired the same time DS9 was aired, Babylon 5.
I won't talk much abt B5 in this response but, for fans who would rather watch a sci fi show with drama, adventures, strong characters, suspense, moral issues, and not much "science fiction explanation," you'll enjoy Babylon 5.
universe 2 TNG-DS9-VOY-4 TNG movies (TAS is not canon and TOS is rewritten -warp 14- -Kirk never went to the centre of the galaxy-) going to the office feel/with new rules:''TOS-Kirk'' never dies yet ''TNG-Kirk'' died very easy (2 Kirk's?) and of course the Worf problem between DS9 and TNG4 (was DS9 even canon in that movie?)
universe 3 ENT (new history?) Archer is the fist Captain and the NX-01 is the fist Enterprise/so ENT is not canon to universe 1 and 2 (DS9 ep. Tials and tribble-ations) ENT had a horror feel
the three universes are ''semi-canon'' only what the writters want stays canon in any new show/movie if VOY must take 70 (or 75 years) over 70.000LY than Kirk's voyage in StartrekV (50.000LY in a few hours) is no longer canon!
i see every spin-of (TNG-DS9-VOY-ENT) as stand-alones they are just too different from eatch other they don't at enything too the original they have there own begining and end with there own history and canon and the new movie?....universe 4?
Let me clear you up on this. Technobabble was something Gene Roddenberry was against, the scientific explinations that overburdened later TNG, Voyager, DS9 and ENterprise were not what he wanted. I have here right now Gene Roddenberries original pitch, in PDF format. If you want it send me a message and i'll get it to you. In it he says
"Star Trek is a "Wagon Train" concept -- built around characters who travel to worlds "similar" to our own, and meet the action-adventured-drama that becomes our stories. Their transportation is the "s.s. yorktown", performing a well-defined and long-range Exploration-science-security mission which helps create our format... (cont)"
"The Time is "Somewhere in the future", it could be 1995, or maybe even 2995. In other words, close enough to our own time for our continuing characters to be fully identifiable as people like us, but far enough into the future for galaxy travel to be thorughly established (HAPPY ELIMINATING THE NEED TO ENCUMBER OUR STORIES WITH TIRESOME SCIENTIFIC EXPLINATION)." Gene Roddenberry, circa 1964. A few names changed, and a few things were defined, but the core concept was not changed.
Wrong. Enterprise failed the very core of Gene Roddenberrys vision, it was exploitive, short sighted and it failed to captivate the majority of Star Trek fans because it was an unintelligent, dull shoot em up fest. This is not what Star Trek is about, nor is it about "Exploring space". It was about exploring humanity, and Enterprise, much of voyager, and to a lesser extent a good amount of DS9, failed to deliver on that concept.
I don't have to tell you they didn't, because they have been quoted in countless interviews as having said they did not like the original. Braga too pride in having never watched the originals, saying they were "cheesey".
This film focuses on Kirk and Spock's days at Starfleet Academy. Unfortuantely, no Picard, but Leonard Nimoy(Spock) and George Takei(Sulu) has been given a role in the movie.
Way to screw up a pretty good attempt by using the Enterprise theme... you should have used the opening part of TOS theme, the music that plays behind the whole "Space... The final frontier..." bit.
Well You're right. But it doesn't have to be that way. The Undiscovered Country's Trailer uses the smilar way that I used for its stardate. Thanks for the input though.
That was very cool. A walk through the Star Trek Universe set to music played by none other than Captain John-Luke Picard. Fantastic.

Really good clip, so has this film got absolutely nothingto do with Picard at all? And anyone no if this is supposed to be the last Trek film?
jamesjoannou 4 years ago
This film focuses on Kirk and Spock's days at Starfleet Academy. Unfortuantely, no Picard, but Leonard Nimoy(Spock) and George Takei(Sulu) has been given a role in the movie.
fisnationstate 4 years ago
Takei has not recieve a roll in the new movie yet. Just Nimoy, at the moment.
On that note, Takei has recently stared in the Star Trek: New Voyages Fan Movie

Oh. Thanks for the info. Not sure where I got the idea of Takei being in the movie.

Sorry, but I meant to reply to one of the comments, but I accidently erased it. =) Yes, you're right, a minor mistake. Look at the first comment...

Way to screw up a pretty good attempt by using the Enterprise theme... you should have used the opening part of TOS theme, the music that plays behind the whole "Space... The final frontier..." bit.

Oh Boo Hoo this is very nice work and your complaining about the songs. That song is quite good.
The 60s Whooing theme wouldn't fit in a 07 fan base, he also stayed with the no words in the song that trek boys like.

Stardates are in decimal form.
December 25, 2008 would be stardate -312930.1 according to TNG era.
Or if you want you could say stardate 0812.25 according to the Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual written by Franz Joseph.
There is no real set standard

Well You're right. But it doesn't have to be that way. The Undiscovered Country's Trailer uses the smilar way that I used for its stardate. Thanks for the input though.

fisnationstate 4 years ago
Actually Star Trek premiered in 1966 not 1960 or 1965 and Star Trek Enterprise ended in 2005 not 2006.
TheStarTreker 4 years ago
Also there is only 3 eras not 5. DS9 and Voyager are part of TNG's Era.

Thanks again. Some previous comment said that. I got it.
