  • @floydgenesisnut No Music from Van-piers probably was his last real album which wasnt to great but definetly late 80s influenced

  • We miss you john , see you on the other end pal

  • RIP Ox, you were the best.

  • I surprised myself, for not hearing this song in about 20 years, how many of the lryics and musical movements I can remember. I remember watching this video when MTV started in '81 and I was a college student. Loved it then, love it now.

I agree with bresnan21. That's what VH1 was supposed to replace, but they are just as bad now about the garbage.

  • Decent track. But when did John become a Bee Gee?

  • @MrGenericdrummer Aww, he always did the really high parts with The Who. Or were you referring to the suit? ;-)

  • Thanks , I love this track, I think it was an underated album....great to see the Video thanks !

  • Excellent upload. I remember seeing it on RAGE or something I guess in the early eighties. Great to see all these positive feedback on this too, no negatives here ;). RIP John Entwistle

  • Fuck, what a great song. I love this guy so much

  • at least this hero was on time.

  • According to Wikipedia, the album this song was on faltered because it was released during the peak of New Wave's popularity. Then why did it make the "Best 81 of 81" list of CFNY-FM, the very prominent Toronto New Wave station?

  • I can't get this song anywhere and i NEED it because i'm making a suprise video for a very special friend and it's her favourite song :(

  • Love this song, I think it's John's best solo composition. A shame it didn't go on 'Face Dances', that one would have improved 101% with this on it.

  • The Ox is such a powerful force! Doesn't matter if it was with The Who, or solo. The Ox is and will always be brilliant!

  • I bought this album when it came out, and I think I still have a copy on cassette somewhere in my collection. I thought I was the only person in the world that had ever heard it, much less owned it. Thank you for posting this.

RIP John Enwistle. Best. Bassist. Ever.

  • @floydgenesisnut Personally, I prefer Smash Your Head Against The Wall and Whistle Rymes, which were musically closer to his earlier songs with The Who. Too Late The Hero's still highly recommended for fans of his songwriting, though. The Rock and Music From Van Pires were quite disappointing follow-ups.

  • most kick-ass part... 0:19 thru 0:22...

  • entwistle etait en avance sur tous ces connards :!! désolé!! mais c est surement son album le plus travaillé, meme si c'est le moins bien vendu!! comme par hasard!! i love you , john !!

    R I P !!

  • i wonder if theres a long version of this video. just like the record version. this might be the only video of this song on you tube. long live the who.

  • I remember seeing this on MTV in the early 1980's when they actually played videos. MTV sucks now!

  • yeah, im agree with that, im 15, but i hate the videos played in mtv, there are just tokyo hotel and jonas brothers's videos and other stupid things, even in vh1 there's much more classic videos.

  • This is amazing! I've never ever seen this before. I didn't even know it existed. I was expecting the song with just a still of the album cover or some such. I have to say that apart from The Ox's playing, I always liked the synth sound on this song.

    Gritty!!!

  • I remember the first time I ever saw this video. :) It was about 6:30 in the morning, I was getting ready for school and here it came on. I freaked out, cause I never saw it before (and I adore The Who), I had a blank VHS tape and just instantly pressed record. And I recorded it. :) I love this, cause I have since lost that tape. Thanks for the upload. :)

  • That's awesome they made a music video for it. I just wish it was the whole song. This is like the most epic song ever in my opinion. And one of the greatest ones I have ever heard. He was a GOD. :D

  • Joe Walsh, Joe Vitale, and the Ox, only three guys on this song! One of my faves, and a great video too. Thanks for posting. The first time I've seen it since 1981.

  • This is nice to see here. And yes, MTV didn't spell his name right.

  • I never knew there was a music video for it o_o Is there any way I could get it in better quality ?

  • I'll be surprised. I think this is the only rip of it on the internet.

  • I didn't know there was a music video for this song! I love this song. The lyrics are amazing. It's so sad though.

  • Thunder fingers may be gone, but never forgotten! A true rock & roller to the end. When you hear thunder think of big johnny twinkle.

  • John Entwistle aged quite fast, considering that he is about 37 years old in this video...

The world has lost its best bassist ever with him.

  • I agree..

I would think he looks that way because he stopped dying his hair black after awhile..thats what I think

  • One of the most underrated albums ever. I still listen to my vinyl copy. Joe Walsh and Joe Vitale rounded out the band on this record. If you have more from this record, please post! Thanks!

  • This is the only promo video made for the Too Late The Hero album, but I could upload the MP3s coupled with images if you'd like? I've got all his solo albums on CD (including Music From Van Pires), and I'm catching up on vinyl. :)

  • You know, I am happy with my vinyl on this one. Thanks for the offer. I was thrilled to see this video. They used to play "Talk Dirty" and "Try Me" on WMAD 92.5 in Madison Wi. Fell in love with the record. Still am. Records from this era sound perfect to my ears. Thanks again and Cheers!

  • why rip mp3? no way! rip LOSSLESS, like I do when I have a cd. just use zg cd extractor, it's so easy, and mp3, are REAL GARBAGE. LOSSLESS IS LOSSLESS. I stick with WAV files, because everything excepts them, and they can be made lossless with th zg cd dude! SO SIMPLE TOO!

Anyway 5 star video. Check out my channel please, I did just favorite this,

  • i missed john since he died in 2002, i still can cry...

  • @foreverthewho Me too :(

  • oh one of my all time fav songs and video!!!!!!

  • The God of Bass!!!

  • I never knew there was video for this song. I like how they had him walking in stark contrast to his on stage persona.

  • Yes, in fact Mtv used to show this video all of the time in 1981.

  • MTV played this one a bit in 1981/1982.

  • I remember seeing this video once back in late 81 or early 82. This is only the second time I've seen it. Not a bad song but not as good as his Who songs like 905 or Trick Of The Light.

  • One of the greatest songs from John's history.

  • Definitely one of John's finest solo songs, cheers for posting the video!
