The insomnia was incredible....and lasted for months when i went off... very tough to get through....and letting go off the last 1 mg was when things really got bad
you look so excited and happy. i wish you the best and it's wonderful that you know your triggers and have family support. you seem like a gal that really has it all together. i look forward in hearing more!
Wish you the best of luck! Take it easy, be vigilant for any possible symptoms of mania or depression. Mood charting would be of great help. I am also cutting back right now. And yes, I also feel excited. Did not think I would feel that since I do not mind taking my pills. Today I took my last dose of Efexor (venlafaxine) which I have been taking for 7 years. Nice!
Best of luck to you. I went off for two years and recently went back on. Everyone is different, though, so if it is what you truly want, I hope for the best for you. You may need to pay extra attention to nutrition and be sure to get enough B vitamins. Also, without meds, you will probably need to draw more support from other areas, i.e., more talk therapy, some kind of support group, and less stress in your life.
Hey there thanks for the posts. I only speak from experience..I think you should stay on your meds..when you are bi-polar it can just happen out of no where..it's not always something that triggers it..Bi -polar is its own enemy..
I'm here, as well, hoping the best for you. I'm very grateful for the way you've approached this. And this isn't me being judgmental, but just a concerned follower: do you have a game plan for IF you start swinging again? I don't know if after your manic episode you had a true plan, but obviously you have close family who really cares about you. :) I just want to put in that SOONER action is better than a delayed reaction. *happy for you!*
@lovebiotech I agree. My plan is to monitor my moods closely and if I begin to swing into mania or depression again I will see my doctor and talk about resuming meds. But I am hopeful that won't happen, at least not for quite awhile! :)
Congratulations and all the best. You have obviously considered this decision carefully and seem prepared for any consequences, so I wish you all the best.
Congrats! Glad to hear you had a good day. I just started empower a few weeks ago. It's a natural suplement to treat bipolar disorder. Have you heard of it?
@BipolarStateofBeing It's a little expensive and it's not covered under medical plans. It's about $150/month. I will keep you posted. I hope it works. It's been giving me a lot more energy and has improved my depression. You can check out the website truehope.com
@BipolarStateofBeing The companies theory is that bipolar is caused by major vitamin deficiencies that result in major issues in the brain. Basically people with bipolar don’t absorb nutrients normally and it makes you nuts. I’m optimistic about this product. Keep your fingers crossed.
@AntisocialVirtuoso You should make a video of how the empower vitamins work for you....i have heard of it... but i am skeptical..those are some expensive vitamins.......seems nobody has any evidence about what causes bipolar...but docs and others are quick to sell you "the answer" nonetheless.. ...But ill try vitamins....never would i take antipsychotics again

Youre either very brave or very foolish to share this stuff with the whole wide world. I like to think very brave. All the best.
