  • Ireally don't think so Leona uses falssetoo. Maybe very rarely. I don't believe it's falsetto at 1:28, co she did amazing, well controled vocal run and connected it with chest that went down.

  • WOW THIS IS VERY GOOD.... :D

  • Are you sure Nicole's C6 wasn't a head voice? I think it's a head voice. In fact, it's a connected head voice. Some performances of the same song she clearly does a connected head voice. She does a lot of falsettos on "Stickwitu" though. And some of Leona's are head voice actually.

  • @benjsinister if im not wrong nicole's C6 is a headvoice and leona uses head voice most of the time...

  • @iiAmitx3 I saw a performance of Baby Love AOL and she definitely did a connected head voice. She also does connected head voice a lot, probably because of her classical training.

  • @benjsinister yea she went up to E6 with connected head voice last month

  • u can also see the vibrato is stronger on head voice

  • You can tell it defenitly is falsetto when getting the higher note they move the mic closer to the mouth instead of pulling it away ;)))

  • Falsetto is not a false anything, nor it's used to imitate the female voice by men. Falsetto is not a false voice, like you imply, falsetto is simply a voice technic to reach higher notes/registers. Countertenor voice is not men trying to imitate female singing. Falsetto is a voice technic as valid as any other. Some people just try to imply that falsetto is a pejorative meaning word, but it's not. That's why some prefer the term head-voice. A well usage of falsetto needs a lot of training.

  • @tacv That part struck me too, as I'll also note that not ALL male falsettos actually sound feminine while singing like it. Their voice goes a higher pitch, but for some bass vocals, that higher pitch might not be quite so femine is they also have a large amount of roughness (I forget the correct term there for this, I'm sorry).

  • I think falsetto and head voice are the same. From what I think, falsetto (only up to Eb6) is the class in the group of head voice.

  • Whitneys head voice is unbeatable!

  • @SymphonicSage12 Greg Pritchard stated in his audition (for B.G.T.) that he is reffered to as a "Male Soprano." Are you saying he's wrong (although I doubt he's confused about what he is)? What is the difference between the 3 (Soprano, Falsetto & Head Voice)?

  • I completely understand the concept. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable using the term falsetto towards women....for them, it's just called head voice.

  • @highnote32You say that, but do take note that science has even proven females can do it. Its just harder to notice at times in comparison to the male falsetto. :-/

  • @AngelEmfrbl Sometimes it's hard to notice. When you listen to people like Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey sometimes when they sing in a very light but sweet whisper, that's falsetto.

  • @SymphonicSage12

Whitney, Beyonce, Patti, Katherine & Celine are Head Voice. The rest are Falsetto.

  • @calvin9999999999 who is that at 4:22

  • @dpeace2325

Greg Pritchard. Look in the description ^^

  • Your explanation is a little off. You are using two different pedagogical terms. Registers (classified via mechanism: fry, modal, falsetto, and whistle) and voices (where resonance is felt: chest, head, and superhead). The modal register includes chest + head voice, not just chest voice. There are more impressive examples of legit sopranos than popular singers. Whitney's head voice isn't very strong...she just barely gets out the vowels.

  • @calvin9999999999 I Don't Get It ?

  • Umm Christina Uses Head Voice And Whistle Never Falsetto Unless In the 5th Octave Below G#5 In This Video Her G6 Was HV And The C6 And Eb6 All HV

  • @AnonymousXtinaSinger

Your user name says it all.

  • @calvin9999999999 christina's super high notes in this video were made using whistle register, it's not falsetto and it's not head voice. anyway, there's nothing wrong with using a little bit of falsetto sometimes!

  • @TheBabyPrincess16 Christina actually rarely uses whistle. Her G6 in this was falsetto, you can tell by how airy, and rather light it is. Her voice is generally heavy and piercing. She can hit a G6 in whistle, but this isn't whistle. Whistle is more "piercing", full, round, and if you compare head to falsetto, head voice sounds like it has "substance", so it feels more round, because of the many supertones that overlap. Its the same with whistle,

  • great vid but whats goin on at 4:02 it was rly cool

  • @PRsweetness

thanks. what do you mean what's going on? With the note?

  • @calvin9999999999 like the preformace person everything!!

  • @PRsweetness

Katherine Jenkins is a Welsh Classical singer, and the clip shows her singing her cover of Bring Me to Life at the Royal Variety Performance.

  • Leona :D

  • somehow i like Leona Falsetto more than Christinas lol

  • in the "get involved section where I guessed every one of them, how can I know if i'm right or wrong" ???

  • @asbani911

I can't see a comment where I can tell you if u got them right or wrong?

  • Are you a hater of mariah? your description said that the names are in order of their appearances...and where the hell is mariah? she appeared second with the song "fantasy" and again in the intro of the song "it's a wrap"!!!

  • @EvanDavid05

Can you not read? It says "'Get Involved' Section: Singer's Name in Order as they appear". The Get Involved section is at the END of the video, where Mariah does NOT feature.

  • i was always told that women do not have a "falsetto"

  • It's funny how the first two women that you demonstrated back to back after explaining the difference between falsetto and head voice, just happens to be my two favorite female singers (Mariah and Alexandra). Leona has best falsetto though. It's just so damn pretty, I can't help but love it!

  • Leona has a very beautiful falsetto.

  • Falsetto is also a disconnected register and Headvoice is attached..

  • @Breniznit

*Connected. You can have a disconnected Head Voice as well.

  • @calvin9999999999 Good to know, Still though falsetto is not attached..

  • @Breniznit

    Falsetto is not connected, no.

  • LEONA OWNS THE FALSETTO REGISTER, HOWEVER MARIAH IS BY FAR THE BEST USING HEAD VOICE.

  • Hi, great video. You have a mistake in your description, though. Katherine Jenkins isn't English. She's Welsh (a different country) She's British but not English.

  • But in a good day (vocally) my falsetto can be pretty strong/powerful too.

My question is, does exclamation categorized in HV or falsetto ?

  • @EricAsian91

Exclamations are not hit in Head Voice. More like a very quick Falsetto. It depends, some people include them as apart of range and others don't. Whenever I include them, I always write Exclamation under the note.

  • 1. HV 2. HV 3. HV 4. F 5. HV 6. 7. HV 8. HV 9. HV 10. HV 11. F 12. HV Do I get it right ? :p Note: Sometimes, it's a bit hard to determine female when they use head voice or falsetto, cos' their voice are really soft/smooth (but again depends on the singers). Me, myself I've been learning vocal for a few years now, when I use HV, I could feel the vibration around my head, and it is much more powerful than when i use falsetto (which is airy).
  • @EricAsian91

Whitney, Patti, Celine, Beyonce and Katherine are Head Voice.

  • @calvin9999999999 I think Celine's is falsetto...

  • what's the name of leona's song @ 1.20

  • @themasterflexG

Better In Time (Live @ Dancing On Ice 2008)

  • @calvin9999999999 thanks

  • GREAT video.

I was so over explaining this shit to people. LMAO

  • @AMOBBDOWNNE

    haha thanks

  • This is just stupid. Since when did you become a vocal expert? I thought everything you knew about music and singing is self-taught. The only difference between the falsetto and head voice you've given here is that in all the clips with head voice, the singers are singing exactly the same but just louder. Besides, you say that falsetto lacks tone and volume but then you say that 1:05 is falsetto! Nuts!

  • So, female falsetto DOES exist? I always was told it was just in males.

  • @apnixlover900 yes it does, check wikipedia or google it :)

  • Falsetto is 'aaaaaaaaaaaa',Head Voice is 'yuuuuuuuuuuuu' :D

  • I love leona's performance of can't breathe at the O2 so much just because of that note you show cased at the begining lol. I made it into an mp3 for my ipod haha.

  • Also, you can not crescendo to a falsetto note as there will always be that change in register break. You can smooth the transition but it will always be there. Female singers can easily transition from top to bottom and vice versa in the modal register.

  • @rekupp

    I didn't say that.

  • @calvin9999999999 It was more of a generalized statement not directed towards anyone.

  • @calvin9999999999 In your opinon who has the best head voice of the insdustry right now?

  • @musicldjs

Leona has the best falsetto in the industry. Mariah the best head voice. Whitney for the late 80s, early 90s.

  • @calvin9999999999 Thanks for pointing me to this video. I learned to tell the difference when I sing but it's a little trickier to tell the difference when women do it.

Why is it so uncommon to hear a man sing with their head voice? I have yet to hear a man sing head voice and still maintain a masculine quality. I have a hard trouble with that myself...

  • @BlackLightning20101 that sound is so high and thin and can't be mascular a man who does falsetto really well is Shayne Ward and Matt Cardle but the first is better

  • @BlackLightning20101 youtube.com/watch?v=K-Ltj3IzDz8 go to 2:16, shayne ward sings with his head voice, and does this a lot :)

  • The easiest way to tell the difference is the quality of the note, the note itself, lip position, and vocalization (difficult to sing words in falsetto).

  • You are pushing more air out with falsetto, that's why there is a "hissy" sound to it. You are confusing two different naming terms - head voice is the upper portion of the modal register, and falsetto is a completely different vocal register with a different vocal mechanism as well as sound. It doesn't necessarily mean they don't know how to use head voice when singers switch to falsetto, some use it for artistic purposes.

  • The wonderful Welsh Singer Greg Pritchard in this video,is an amazing singer this just shows one bit of what he can do,in actual fact he has now got a much better voice as he has been having singing lessons, and if you go to my channel and see but he is now concentrating on all classical songs and opera,as said below you can find out a lot more about this wonderful singing sensation at the supersoprano-promotionsagency site just google an evening of music and opera, you will see how popular he is.

  • This is a lovely interpretation, and explanation. The classical singer listed. Is Mr Greg Pritchard, who is a Contertenor with 5 octave range soprano. if you google him you will see that he can vocalise quite well, he has a classical music tour going around starting in Wales and covering Uk and Europe so if you are interested in this type of More classical singing why not take a look on his site to see if he is in your area just put in supersoprano-promotionsagency, well done on this video xx

  • I have had the pleasure of hearing Greg Pritchard sing live - whether fasetto or head voice there is nothing weak or light about his top notes - trying listening to his version of La Habanera also on You Tube

  • what's the title of the song that Leona sang at the very start of the video? it sounded so amazing!

  • @saintzreji

Can't Breathe. The performance is from her Labyrinth tour at the 02. The note she does here is not what is on the studio track though.

  • @calvin9999999999 wow my guess was right, it's really can't breathe. she made an interesting revision of the song at the concert. thanks for the reply!

  • WoW. Leona just shows how its done. That first note, the most powerful headvoice note I have ever heard in my life. Go Leona x

  • Im gonna b honest...if now i know the difference between HV and Falsettos,is because of u and ur videos,this one,one confirmed what i (think) i knew...lol

  • @jvcpvice

    Thanks :D

  • wtf! I am kinda jealous to Christina because her FALSEtto can reach up to Bb6 but me I can only reach Bb5 by forcing and struggling myself...and I cannot imitate her G6 falsetto run in what a girl wants live....argh

  • OMG you changed it. You can't say something then change it :( You said before that Whitney was known for her falsetto like Leona and Xtina. And now you say she is known for Rich Colourful Headvoice? :( 4:07 what performance was that? 0:41 that video gave me a copyright strike! I hate it now! ...lol just kidding. I know I'm going to fail the test so here goes. WH - HV Bey - HV Patti - HV Leona - HV Opera singer - HV Nicole - F Kelly - HV BGT - F P!nk - F CDion -F Xtina -F Alex - F Leona - HV
  • @LoboAscuridad

Yeah because it was pointed out to me. Whitney, Beyonce, Patti, Katherine & Celine are Head Voice, the rest are falsetto.

  • @calvin9999999999 Sorry I forgot to reply back :P So I only got 4 wrong out of 13 :) I didn't do so bad ;) And its cool you changed it. There's nothing wrong with fixing mistakes, right? :D

  • @LoboAscuridad

    Exactly lol

  • All of these are incorrect. A few of Leona's were head voices that you marked as falsetto and the Beyonce one at the end that you told us to decide for ourselves was a falsetto, not head.

  • silly geese arguing over old news XD and who cares if its head voice or falsetto as long as it sounds amazing Leona can falsetto or head voice all she wants she sounds angelic

  • Well at least this might get a comment honour again with Chimier and his (or her) debating xD Great vid and I love the use of Leona in it :D

  • @envoirment

    What?! lol. Thanks

  • Thanks for sharing¡¡¡

  • Whitney-F Beyonce-HV Patti-F Leona-HV Opera girl- IDK...you would think because she sings opera she wouldn't use falsetto, but I think your trying to trick us. Nicole-F Kelly-F The dude- dead........Falsetto Pink- F....what the hell was that ? Celiene-F Christina-F Alex-HV This was hard like the chemistry exam I just took !!!
  • @MrRiffnRun

Whitney, Beyonce, Patti, Katherine & Celine are Head Voice. The rest are Falsetto.

  • @calvin9999999999 Wow! I was way off.

  • @MrRiffnRun um patti head voice is so full and rich..how dear u call it falsetto

  • @islandlife89 Did you mean "dare" and "you"? And how dare you butcher the English language. See, we all make mistakes.

  • @MrRiffnRun your just salty because you dont know the difference between falsetto and head voice, come again bitch

  • i get the grasp of it...but with all those singers together at once for the challenge... i didnt know which from which haha its haaard :(

  • @StarpeemReturns

lol that's why people confuse Head Voice and Falsetto. You look at the tips just before the clips as to help distinguish them then that should help you?

  • didn't you put whitney under falsetto last time xD?

  • @richzero0

Yeah, but I decided to change it haha

  • YAAAAAYYYYYY its back lol!

  • Whitney, Beyoncé, Patti, Katherine = Head voice

    The Rest = Falsetto

  • @TheVocalPower

    & Celine

  • Whitney, Bey, Patti, Katherine, Celine = head voice??

    The rest = falsetto? :)

  • @WestVoice

Yes, Yes, Yes Yes & Yes. haha

    THANKS FOR GETTING INVOLVED! lol

  • Comment removed

  • @ThePianoguy89 Then instead of bitching about people not getting involved, get involved yourself. Simple.

  • @Chimier I was not bitching about that, Calvin999999999 brought up the fact that no one was getting involved in this video earlier that he sent to me, that's why I was talking about the old video vs the new video.

  • @ThePianoguy89

You can just call me Aaron instead of typing out ten 9s haha

  • @calvin9999999999 Oh okay! I love your videos Aaron!

  • @ThePianoguy89

    haha

  • @ThePianoguy89 Yes you were. Don't deny it. The comment is there.

I mean, I like how you tried to diss me and bconsitt on the sly cos we were the only two people on the last video who said Whitney wasn't singing in falsetto, but come better next time.

  • @Chimier I was not trying to diss anybody in a sly manner because I remember there were more people debating over Whitney's supposed use of falsetto. I have no hard feelings against anyone. If you want me to remove the comment, I will.

  • @ThePianoguy89 The only two (or three) people debating were me and bconsitt against calvin. So yeah, you were dissing us and you KNOW it. Drop the act. It didn't work then, it doesn't work now.

I could care less what you do with your comment. Just stop trying to act like you're innocent when you know EXACTLY who your comment was about. Own up to it for once.

  • @Chimier I am innocent and I always feel that I get attacked for no reason at all. If I wanted to disrespect someone on Youtube I would say their username. What I meant by "people" is the general Youtubers on that particular video.

  • @ThePianoguy89 The "people in general" were not the ones debating with Calvin over Whitney's head voice/falsetto. Me and bconsitt were and you know it. Stop.

  • @Chimier I was not trying to disrespect you or bconsitt. You both did nothing to me, so why would I say something towards being disrespectful to you. I am not that type of person who starts drama with people for no reason, so that comment was not intended to disrespect you two.

  • @ThePianoguy89 Uh huh...but you did.

  • Comment removed

  • @Chimier It was not meant in that way.

  • @ThePianoguy89 It's funny because I still don't believe you.

  • @Chimier You can believe it! I mean everything that I say.

  • @ThePianoguy89 The same way you meant you would stop biting and preaching about Whitney/Mariah/Beyonce fans putting down Christina because you were so one-sided, yet less than a week later, you went on a video doing EXACTLY that.

  • @Chimier I ended the other conversation about Whitney/Mariah/Beyonce stans because I was very busy with college work. I didn't think I was one-sided, I was just expressing my point of view.

  • @ThePianoguy89 Yet you weren't busy enough to go on another video and talk about how "certain" stans say stuff about Christina, even though you said you'd stop. Oh....

  • @Chimier That was a different day, I was talking about the day I was arguing with ManOfBamboo, I had to end the end the conversation.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You don't get it....never mind...

  • @Chimier I do and I understand the fact that I stand by my opinion "certain stans" always bashing other singers. Although I said I was not one-sided, but I will always stand by my belief that Beyonce/Mariah/Whitney stans are very arrogant. I see it on Youtube all the time and my intent on that video was to tell it like it is. Those stans in particular always like to put down Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys vocally. Maybe people are not their fans, I've seen harsh comments.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You admitted that your opinion was one-sided last time, and now you're backtracking....girl, bye.

  • @Chimier I did not admitted that my opinion was one-sided, I said it was not. I just stated that I stand by my opinions of those stans. I have all the evidence made by *commenters* that my statements about those stans have truth. I am not a girl either.

  • @ThePianoguy89 Thanks for reconfirming EVERYTHING I said about you last time. It's hilarious how you get on the cases of Whitney/Mariah/Beyonce stans for putting those artists down "vocally", yet don't say shit when one part of the other side (Christina stans) throws racist and hateful comments. Love how obviously biased and uninformed you really are. I'm done now.

  • @Chimier When I was commenting the first time, the topic was not intended to be about racism. I know people said racial and hateful comments and I've said many times that I DON'T condone racism, me being African American myself. When people said racial comments about artists before I came to their defense, so it's not like I did not do it at all.

  • @ThePianoguy89 It doesn't matter what it was intended to be about. Stop bitching about one side when the other said says and does worse things. Simple concept to grasp. Not hard to understand. With that being said, girl bye.

  • @Chimier Well I see things on how they are presented to me on this other realm we call the 'Internet.' I was making a point that die hard stans of certain singers will always try to make another sinhger seem like they are less talented. I never said that vocal criticism was worse than racism, but racism was brought up into the equation, even though I was not talking about racism. My topic stayed on music criticisms and its unfairness. BTW, I am not a girl. Why are you calling me a girl?

  • @ThePianoguy89 But again, you complaining about a certain group of people criticizing other singer's vocals is nothing compared to what the fans of the other singers say about Whitney/Mariah/Beyonce. In other words, what you're complaining about would be like me complaining about Person 1 slapping Person 2, but keeping quiet about Person 2 trying to shoot Person 1.

As I said before, you don't get it. Girl, bye.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThePianoguy89 "Racism is not pertinent to music"- Yet you keep schtum when other stans say things of the sort about Whitney/Mariah/Beyonce. Oh. Bye...

  • @Chimier I would not able to talk about the racial things that people said about them because I did not look at them. I said racism was not pertinent to the video containing music, but people who are low-lives make ignorant comments. I defended people who said racist things about them when I encountered it. I just was talking about the topic of music, which I wanted to stay on. Music was the topic of discussion in regards to stans with their unfair critiques.

  • @ThePianoguy89 That's a lie. You've seen MANY racist comments against Whitney/Mariah/Beyonce and their fans and didn't say anything. ManofBamboo even brought up that Christina vs Beyonce video where you commented, which had TONS of racist posts on it. Don't front. Don't lie. As I said before, STOP bitching, and stop trying to sneak-diss. You know what you meant when you posted your comment on here, don't deny it. Your little "I'm clueless" game doesn't work with me.

  • @Chimier How would you know if I saw those comments? Even if I was watching those vidoes, I was not looking at the commenting section. I am not trying to sneak-diss anyone. I never said I was clueless, I was just unaware of the comments.

  • @ThePianoguy89 Because they were RIGHT before yours. AND ManofBamboo brought them up to you RIGHT after you commented. AND you replied "I know that the racial comments are very cruel and unnecesssary."

If you're unaware of the comments, then you are clueless.

    Thanks and goodbye.

  • @Chimier ManofBamboo comments were right before mine and I did not knew what he was talking about specifically until he told me about it.

  • @ThePianoguy89 The fact is you do know about them and HAVE seen them, so stop pretending that you haven't. As I said, your "I'm clueless" game will not work with me.

  • @Chimier I don't understand how this conversation got blown up to this. It seems like everything that I say about certain groups of people, it gets turned into a bad thing when I was only having an opinion about the certain behaviors on the Internet.

  • @Chimier @ThePianoguy89 LMAO your argument or whatever is still going on?! It's been over 4 hours guys, just stop it already xD

  • @Chimier im serious you should go be a lawyer... i'd hire you for any amount of money!

  • No one has got involved at the end yet!!!!!!

  • I love your video^^

    thx for re-upload it again

  • I like it !!

  • great vid !

  • Great video!

  • Deja Vue! ;)

Great Video and again added in my favorites!

  • @shacks29

    thanks :D

  • oh i thought it's what DanielAvilaAGT asked for, sorry my mistake, ill watch it later anyway lmao.

  • @iiAmitx3

    what!??! lol

  • @calvin9999999999 didn't you see DanielAvilaAGT's new vid where he requests a video like this on another matter?

  • @iiAmitx3

yeah i commented on it lol

  • i see you decided to help DanielAvilaAGT. i have to go now but i'll watch this vid and comment later. :)

  • On Faculty of Music Arts we learned that female vocalist doesent have falsetto, only male have it,which is reasonable (countertenors ex.) in opera music registers in one voice fach shouldnt exist,me for example i use only one and vocal fry for Rachmaninoff church stuff for ex. and I have as every man falsetto I dont use it, female do not use any registers, but I suppose that in non classical music people get confused and "made up" new termines and we really have falsetto and h.v.

    Beautiful video.

  • whats the song at 1:35? love leona's head voice and falsetto :)

  • @hessounusual95

Stop Crying Your Heart Out Live @ The X Factor Final
