  • newt ur full of shit

  • How is this an "albatross around Romney's neck" but Gingrich gets a pass from the right wing talkers? Are they doing the MSM dishonesty thing?

  • This is exactly why I can't vote for Newt.

  • Not only is it unconstitutional, what do you do with those that REFUSE to be responsible as an ever growing portion of the population is doing?

  • "All of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care."

SOCIALISM THROUGH IN & THROUGH OUT . He's right that the system we already have is socialistic, he just wants to make Socialism MANDATORY (compared to car insurance), -- the only choice there is! Just listen to him and understand what he's saying. What's supposed to make libertarians "relatively happy" is that you should be REQUIRED to post a bond in order to be held accountable. What happened to the collection agencies? !!!!!!!

  • I had no idea that Newt wanted to mandate healthcare and give government vouchers. He completely lost my vote with that one.

  • You twisted my words. No, you twisted your words. We twisted our words. OK, why not vote for Ron Paul who never twists his words.

  • RON PAUL is the only great answer... not all these other schmucks!

  • It is EXTREMELY Unconstitutional.

    He's just lost my vote.

  • unconstitutional.

  • if Obama had created a national regulatory board for health insurance, it would have create more competition by allowing insurance providers to sell across which would drive down cost. He would have made health care mandate constitutional (interstate commerce.)

government makes us "buy" roads, police, education, tanks.

newts idea of an individual mandate for wealthier american so they don't just rely on government services if they get really sick is a conservative idea.

  • A bond today or a jail sentence tomorrow. Come on guys! Force is force! I do not have a natural right to force you to buy something anymore than you do me! Nor does government have a responsibility to pay the tab for someone given services by a medical establishment. Hospitals are not built and paid for by the government and are therefore on their own financially should they make bad decisions. Many companies that are owed money have collection departments and can pursue claims through courts!

  • stop putting words in his mouth. i can buy into this idea. i dont see how the host could possibly think its the same thing similarities yes but exactly the same???? someone needs to open his eyes to what obama has done to our healthcare system

  • Typical politician, tells you what he thinks you want to hear then does whatever he wants after elected.

  • New't is a criminal. He talks out of both sides of his mouth.

  • I have had enough of these fake conservatives. Fuck you Newt Gingrich. You are a criminal socialist.

  • Newt has flip flopped on this subject.... Privet insurance doesn't work, people are dying and its partly because health care insurance profits and very powerful lobbyists.I would make it illegal to earn any sort of profit in the health care industry.

My Ante died of cancer... no treatment was offered... took her 4 years to die and she paid for health insurance for over 20 years. She was denied the right to live.

  • Your "accept the consequences" result is for third world countries. Republicans have 3rd world solutions for everything.

You pay for heatlh insurance and you get health insurance. You pay for national defense and you get national defense. What is immoral about that?

And its not unconstitutional-its "providing for the general welfare".

  • @plynth2 The constitution does not authorize PROVIDING the general welfare. But PROMOTING the general welfare. What you advocate is providing every individual's welfare. Get the difference between promote and provide; and general and every single individual. It is not freedom that is "third world". third world is characterized by government control.

Freedom won't give us a perfect world just the best possible world/

Learn to think outside the box rather than parroting the establishment.

  • @carcabe The phrase "general welfare of the United States" refers to the nation as a whole, not to individuals. "Common Defence and general welfare of the United States". It mandates nothing for individuals, but to run the nation. Even if it did, Social Security is for the old, as is MediCare, so isnt general. ObamaCare is for those is need of medical care help. I never needed shit, until I got old, that isnt general either.

  • @luvcheney1

    Welfare from 1828 Webster's Dictionary

    n. [well and fare, a good faring; G.]

    1. Exemption from misfortune, sickness, calamity or evil; the enjoyment of health and the common blessings of life; prosperity; happiness; applied to persons.

    2. Exemption from any unusual evil or calamity; the enjoyment of peace and prosperity, or the ordinary blessings of society and civil government; applied to states.

  • @jfsfrnd Perhaps you ought to be looking up "United States". In the Constitution, "people" are referred to as "people", "persons". The "welfare" of the United States, is the nation, not people, and it specifically mentions defense, and Liberty, not fucking handouts. Both in the preamble, and Art 1, Sect 8, taxing and spending clause, it says "United States". In the Amendments, it says "people", "persons", when it MEANS people, stupid.

  • @luvcheney1 I don't listen to people who post Ad Hominem attacks. I posted the definition of ''welfare'' from the 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Take it any way you want to. If the term ''welfare'' applies to ''persons'' then definition 1 is correct: ''Exemption from misfortune, sickness, calamity or evil; the enjoyment of health and the common blessings of life; prosperity; happiness''.

  • @jfsfrnd The Constitution states "welfare" of the United States, not people. To interpret the Constitution YOUR way, the Constitution is unnecessary. Why have it, if any fucking thing is legal?

  • "You don't have the money? Then you made a mistake and should accept the consequences" is jsut another rotten GOP solution. The rest of us have to pay for what you don't come up with. And becoming ill is not a "mistake". Do you know one of the reason's I have medical insurance? Because my family depends on the economic stablility. Maybe we should require that the medical bills or costs associated with the resulting destitute families come out of the GOP campaign contributions.

  • Hey Christopher5777, I have an idea. Why don't you and your wife go to europe, have your baby and stay the hell over there if its so great.

  • These big government republicans are killing us. Newt go join the democratic party already.

  • our healthcare system in the US SUCKS! Me and my wife want to have our first baby, well i have insurance but she does not, (she works part time) A. No individual policies carrie maternity care and the ones that do carry it are like 500 bucks a month minimum! B. even though my insurance would cover it i cant add her to my insurance until Jan when my company does open enrollment again.

Its bs!! In europe you get pregnant, you have the baby and you pay 0 cents! we NEED single payer

  • @Christopher5777 While I agree that the healthcare system in the US is imperfect, you have managed to make it a lot worse for yourself. Why did you not get your wife covered under your policy when you took your job? You reduced your insurance costs by what, $200 a month not covereing her, she has a pre-existing condition, and now you're on the hook for all the hospital costs. THAT'S an expensive lesson!

I suggest that you go back to Europe where the government will do your thinkig for you.

  • @Christopher5777, wrong!

In Europe you have a baby and the tax payer will pay:

    20% VAT,

    20-40% tax on income,

    $8 / gallon of gasoline.

  • If government would stop allowing it self to be corrupted by special interest from pharma, insurance, lawyers, on and on and on, health care would be a lot less expensive and we wouldn't need to worry about this stuff.

When government subsidises and industry, it becomes captured by that industry at the expense of the tax payer. Government is not your friend.

  • The GOP's shortsighted tactic of becoming the party of NO has them tripping all over themselves. No wonder Republicans hate government - its because they suck so bad at governance.

  • Prior to Obama proposing it, the individual mandate had been the solution favored by Republicans for years. Since Obama proposed it, the Republicans suddenly reversed themselves and labelled it unconstitutional. Now the Republicans have painted themselves into a ridiculous corner with all their political games. The GOP has no solution left but whacko things like vouchers that will throw seniors into the loving arms of the private healthcare insurers. They prefer dealth sentences to death panels.

  • He's no better than Obama. Just another want-to-be ruler who thinks he knows better than the people and tell us what to do. DC sucks.

  • I do not support Newt Gingrich for his positions in this video. He says he is trying to increase the range of choices? What if my choice is no healthcare? This guy is a joke. Government should have no role in paying for healthcare, period. That is the problem with our current system, and simply adding different regulations is far from the right solution. Only Ron Paul understands this.

  • @tubo222555 says "What if my choice is no healthcare?"??? So when YOU get sick and the hypocratic oath of doctors requires that they treat you, the bill goes to the rest us to pay for your sorry ass. You are the joke. You just want the freedom of choice to foist your healthcare costs onto the people who pay into the healthcare system. How about pulling your own weight ya bum!

  • @plynth2

No. The bill goes to me and I am indebted. My whole point is the government should pay for anything at all. Also, what if I have enough money to not need healthcare? Why buy it? Why should government have the right to force anyone to purchase any service? The whole principle is unconstitutional and immoral.

  • @tubo222555 And what happens when you don't have the money to pay? If you have so much money that you can pay huge medical costs out of pocket then paying a tiny amount for insurance would not be onerous. The government has ALWAYS forced people to pay for services - its in the constitution. Otherwise I could demand that I not be taxed for military costs and see a big reduction in my taxes. I'll use the extra money to defend myself.

Immoral? What cult are you in?

  • @plynth2

You don't have money? Then you made a mistake, and should accept the consequences. Take out a loan, sell off assets, or ask for help from family. The federal government has NEVER forced people to purchase a service. You are dead wrong there. You are not being taxed to pay for insurance, you are being FORCED to literally purchase an insurance plan and own one. The constitution gives the power to tax, not to force people to buy anything. Period. How is forced purchase moral?

  • @plynth2

Now before you say "what about car insurance" remember that car insurance is mandated by the STATES not the federal government. The constitution says in the 10th amendment that all powers not delegated to the federal government are left to the states. Therefore, individual mandates technically could be pursued by states if the wished. The problem is trying to force states and individuals to do so using federal government force. That is unconstitutional.

  • @plynth2 FYI According to Professor Elizabeth Warren 50% of bankruptcies in the US happened after a serious illness and 75% of those had medical insurance at the onset of their illness. Her analysis is , you may think you have coverage and have done all the right things, but noone studies the fine-print until they have been refused. Medical insurance companies are ruthless and there is no way you can afford to fight them.

  • @alcraig I agree completely. I can easily envision seniors selecting a low coverage policy to minimize their after "premium support" insurance premium payments and leaving themselves without adequate coverage when they become ill. It would be up to their loved ones to either contribute more toward their premium for coverage or help pay for the hospitalization costs. Either way, it amounts to a burden to the middle class while the wealthy walk away with their extra 10% tax savings. Thanks Ryan.

  • LOL, and this dude claims to be a Republican? Gingrich doesn't have the slightest chance in hell in becoming a President. He's too intellectual like Ron Paul and he's inconsistent.

Not saying RP sucks I'm just saying he comes off like too much of a grandpa intellectual. Most people don't even know what "Keynesianism" even means.

  • @DaveElectric

I don't support Gingrich for his positions. But are you saying we should elect stupid ignorant people as presidents? I support Ron Paul. He is intellectual, consistent, and RIGHT. I would rather have a grandpa intellectual than a buffoon who knows nothing but looks like a Hollywood star anyday.

  • @tubo222555 Every president who has ever won the Presidency was able to speak in quick ,concise sound bytes. Both Paul and Gingrich have too much stuff to explain.

  • @DaveElectric, then most people are complete ignorants who deserve what they have.

  • @heathmoor They are in fact. Intellectuals like you and I don't achieve political power.

  • @DaveElectric, wasn't Thomas Jefferson an intellectual?

  • @heathmoor Jefferson did not succeed in protecting his ideals. When he actually became President he said "We're all Federalists now" as a way of communicating he was abondoning his anti-Federalist ideals.

You can always find some intellectuals who gained power, but they didn't gain power through their own means. Only by endless compromising. That's why I'm pretty sure Mitt Romney is going to win. Only well-spoken moderates win the Presidency.

  • @DaveElectric, people vote for strong leaders capable to do difficult reforms during harsh times rather than for moderates, for instance, Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher.

  • Yep this pretty much killed Newt.

  • I thought Newt was a republican? It sounds like he's campaigning to be the democrat nominee.
