i have ubuntu and i cant install itunes it sayes There is no application installed for this file type wat does it mean?

  • I guess you tried to install the windows installer (.exe). Ubuntu doesn't support .exe natively, instead it uses .deb files to install software.

You can try to use Rhythmbox (Apps->Sound & Video->Rhythmbox), but it's not exactly like iTunes.

If you really want iTunes, you could try to install wine (Apps->Add/remove, change show to all available applications, search for wine, and install it) and then try to install iTunes. But keep in mind that wine isn't perfect and doesn't always work.

  • HI can some one help me? I already install ubuntu on another computer, but I dont have any sound, it says that nothing is detected, i can still use my cd ports, but I belive that my usb port do not work now, and i dont have internet, i dunno why, do i need to install some drivers or something else?

  • Yeah most likely the OS couldn't find the driver be its self so your gonnna have to export a driver from somewhere else.

  • How do I uninstall Ubuntu? It's not that I don't like it, I just desperately need the disk space. Can you please make a video on this?

  • you cant unless you have a xp or vista or mac disk laying around

  • Using GParted (Gnome Partition editor) from the Ubuntu Live CD, you can simply delete the partitions you don't need and resize the others.

Then, all you need to do is readjust the MBR if needed.

  • I am waiting for my ubuntu disk to come. Of course linux is free! But it will take 4-6 weeks to arrive. I am going to dual-boot it with windows vista

  • I have ubuntu on my old desktop, and the nvidia graphics card is restricted. when I go to enable it, i can't. Any help?

  • dude dont wry if u can buy a software called partitionmagic u can partition or u can maybe go to start menu> hover over computer>right-click>manage>disk managment and shrink your partition with no data loss

  • Man, I have a Intel D845GLLY mainboard, 768 MB on RAM, a 128 megs nVidia Geforce Mx4000 (PCI) cpu, and can't install the OS, it says something about graphics compatibility. That sucks, 'cause I wanna start now with linux, but can't even install, also if I type "help" a lot of weird commands pop up, so there's nothing I can do besides taking out the disc, reboot and go to WIndows again. ¿Can you help me?

  • i have a question when i install ubuntu can i go back to xp? like can i just put the cd that comes with ur pc do a system recovery and i will have windows xp back?

  • yes you can. its called dual boot. you can boot ubuntu and xp (not at the same time but have the option to boot one or the other). to do this you need to partition your hard drive to have two sections (very trickey) or install a second hd and install it there.

  • first let me thank you a lot =] now when ur partioning your memory it asks u how much space u need is it asking u how much space u want to leave to windows or how much you want to give to ubuntu please help me =[

  • It's asking how much you want to give ubuntu.

  • thanks =D
