If you know something that I don't please post a link to what you are talking about. I'm all for staying on top of what is available. This system comes with motor, heatsink, ESC rated at 125A and comes from an American company?
Umm, this is Dan, the owner of Kershaw Designs. I believe the EZRun ESCs have been discontinued in light of the newly updated XERun ESCs. The the cheapest I've seen them for is $82 + shipping. The only 3674 motor that I have seen for about $30 is the Hobbycity motors, but they have a pretty bad reputation. A business much like mine stopped carrying them for just that reason.
Is there something else out there that I'm not aware of?
I know who this is and have a few emails from you .... the motors your sell are very much like Hobbycity 3674 motors, and for only 30 bucks they are great! many like myself use them and get 60mph in my revo on 4s with a 6XL about 75+ runs so far on this motor, tried a 9XL that gives longer runtimes and massive torque! that motor has since go into a FE boat that gets 50mph+ on 5s with little heat.. Hobbycity has the new replacement esc thats only 70 bucks!
Well, I may as well let the cat out of the bag. I'm currently testing a $100 brushless system with fully programmable ESC, motor, heatsink, BEC and plugs. It runs on 4S LiPo and handles 125 amps. Bench testing thus far went well, but the true test comes in the field. Best part is you deal with someone domestically.
Hi dan, or milemarkers i should say lol What motor is more powerful in a e-revo? Duel 700-ho's or dual 970's? I dont really care much about wieght because i know the 970's will be more haevy than the 700-ho's. But if the weight difference is significantly differnet than that would concern me.
I sell them on my web site and could try to convince you to buy them , but they are not really necessary. Just make sure you do have top notch batteries. Some lesser packs get hot and vent under the current load of the motors.
The motors have the same power output as a Novak 6.5 brushless system. The stock E-Revo driveshafts do fine. I had Revo drive shafts installed by mistake. They are thinner and do not hold up well.
kay thanks. oh and could you try to post more videos on that e revo? and do a little more off roading with it. p.s. how do those motors perform off road?
The motor seem as though they are designed for offroad, even though they actuallt show up more in vaccum cleaners. The low end grunt really has the pull through the tough stuff off road. By the way, the only reason that I do not have more offroad shots of the truck is that the wrong font center drive shaft was installed and the motors sheared the shaft in two.
Well, its not so much of an issue with changing the tranny's internal gear ratio to get it to go faster. What happens, when you shift into to overdrive, the motor/ESC are already working pretty hard to get the truck up to a frickin' fast top speed. I don't think I'd want to change anything to put more stress on either.
I used the Traxxas 2 speed conversion. To get the overdrive gearing with the conversion, you then have to use a 36/58T pinion/spur. Make sure to install the close ratio gearing.
Ah yes. As with any increase in power there eomes the acomanying loss in run time. But because the motors run much closer to there natural powerband, they are more efficient. Expect about 65-70% of the runtime that you would have had with stock Titan motors.
Hey, I was just wondering where you moved the ESC to? I don't see it in the picture. Also, how fast do you think I can get that setup to with 2 3000maH 7 cells?
The 970's have a slight edge, not much, but to then naked eye they look a little more powerful. However, if you have the new E-maxx, go with the 700-HO's as they do not put the extra weight over the front end of the new E-maxx like the 970's do.
Have clocked them at just under 35 mph with a fresh set of 14 cells. But remember, that is geared for enough torque to pull wheelies with a rolling start.
Vastly impressive Dan. It seems the new pinions you've used here compliment those motors MUCH more than the old video with the Emaxx and these motors. That's tyre ripping acceleration with insane top speed for the price. Did you use elites here or did you use lipos. Also what esc?
So if they have a little more speed and torque, but are both heavier... you'd probably gain the speed back in weight savings with the 700-HO! Haha, just playing devil's advocate.
Well actually, that's about right. If I were racing, I'd pick the 700-HO for the better handling that goes along with low weight. If I were bashing, I'd pick the 970's.
So while youre here answering questions dan, are you totally out of stock on the plain 7 cell kyosho trays? It says you have some for savage conversions, but no more of the stock trays? Im looking to use 2 with a roadboy chassis.....
thats nice! How much is the kit? do they sell for e maxx? and what esc r u using? Plz reply.

what, that most people have moved beyond bigger brushed motors and gone to brushless for a cheap price that will outlast them?

Yes, I see where you're coming from. I believe anyone who reads the comments listed will understand the jist off what is intended.

hey ! do you still sell the 970 conversion kits for the e maxx ?? i can't find it on your site !
BakiTibike 2 years ago
yes the system comes with a BEC equipped esc fan motor etc. and comes from the same place you buys yours!
not made in the USA like you sell...
brushless55 2 years ago
Umm, how do you know where I get mine? Can you provide a web address in case the supplier may have something I would like to pull in?
milemarkers 2 years ago
Cat out of the bag??
well a system like that is already out and in the market and if you look around you will see them in Revos and other MTs.

you can get a 4s ezrun esc for less than 75 bucks now and a 3674 motor for only 30 bucks!

Isn't it better to just drop in a single 1/8 scale brushless motor? More power, better runtimes, will handle up to 6S lipo, etc...
SquireSCA 2 years ago
Not if you only want to spend $100 for power that is equivalent to most 4S brushless system and still have the truck water proof.
milemarkers 2 years ago
You can buy 4s Brushless systems now for about 100 bucks!
that will blow this away.. longer runtimes to

sweet. thanks. what brand of batteries do you recomend? tell me the 3 best brands you would recomend.
Diannvy19 2 years ago
kay thanks. also what is the top speed of that e revo in that video?
Diannvy19 2 years ago
Without the broken driveshaft, just shy of 40 mph.
milemarkers 2 years ago
Do you mean 40mph with a 2 speed with overdrive gearing or with stock e-revo gearing?
rcowner153 2 years ago
DANG!!! thats crazy. would you recomend installing better drive shafts?

I sell them on my web site and could try to convince you to buy them , but they are not really necessary. Just make sure you do have top notch batteries. Some lesser packs get hot and vent under the current load of the motors.

Dan
milemarkers 3 years ago
ok. yeh i might go a brushless mamba monster. they seem to have xtreme power on 6S LiPO.
rexxar479 3 years ago
If you dont have enough for the 700's or 970's then there is no way you have enough for the mamba monster or 2 6s lipos

VXLBeast 3 years ago
That looked closer 40-45mph i thought.
I do like the torque they provide.
I'm immagining because these motors don't break a sweat pushing the E-Revo around that they don't draw a huge amount of current?
I.e no thermaling of the speed control or melted batterys.
hardcoretam 3 years ago
It looked closer to 40-45 because a 2 speed manual tranny was installed and sued for the top speed shots.
Yes, the motors have been run up to 18 cells without heat problems - very efficient.
milemarkers 3 years ago
hey Dan, whats the top speed you have ever gotten with the dual 970's on the e-revo?
thanks, and nice movie!! =P

Have clocked them at just under 35 mph with a fresh set of 14 cells. But remember, that is geared for enough torque to pull wheelies with a rolling start.

Dan, whats the benefit of the 970's over the 700-HO? They have about equal power right? The 970 is just bigger and heavier!
joeyisfunny 3 years ago
I'm not Dan, but I own the 970s.
The 970s ARE heavier, and bigger, they cost less (about 20 bucks)..
They offer a little more speed than the 700HOs, and have a bit more torque. But then again, I may be wrong...
