Suspenso. Dolor. Lágrima que no sabe su camino, su caída, su salto y retarda a las otras para enrrojecer la mirada del sufriente que apaga la vela porque ya no quiere ver frente al espejoy prefiere escuchar el fin de la lluvia. Ivan Leroy .
When he was a young boy he was fooling around, crossing he eyes and making faces when the devil came by and slapped him on the back, so his eyes got stuck in that position.
I changed my mind regarding this recording because, I had found how talentless and vain Rousset turns out to be before the unpredictable and flamboyant, passionate Skip Sempe. Rousset is below average comapred to Sempe in 17th century harpsichord department, and even fails to compete with Davitt Moroneys MR Couperins manuscript performance.BTW his tuning is also lacking color even on the Colmar Ruckers!2 stars for his recording!
Rousset keeps doing his own experiments on harpsichord and this time he failed. His ornaments sounds mindless, and pale. I now have acquired the Skip Sempe version which is just DEVINE!His Chambonnieres recordings remains the best harpsichord performance ever recorded which only G Leonhardt cound compare with. Rousset seems tended to treat 17th century music as passionless, meaningless aristocratic gossips that demands no deeper interests.
To get an idea how far off this playing is with regard to the way people 3 & 400 years ago played...simply go to youtube video entitled..."Ca.1830 English Barrel Organ"
There U will see how every direct performance evidence of the 18th century from Claude Balbastre(b.1727)forward sounded.
The only thing authentic here are ornaments.
Even the rest of the articulation is totally modern.
I don't know where else to do this, but what happened to that repugnant performance of the chaconne in F Major on here that I commented on? It has dissapeared...any news?
Please tell me what this version is, is it played by Skip Sempe? that is the cd i want for a long time, and if you have that disc please upload wonderful music of Monsieur De Chambonnieres!
The set of Mr Rousset`s D anglebert is also a wonderful collection that I do not have either.France is full of antique harpsichords,so many that people get envious of you.I have a Msr De Chambonnieres recording by Mr Baumont played on an anonymous 17th cent antique, that is a terrific recording.I d like to upload its music but not untill this recording become out-of-print.D`Angleberts music is also beautiful,my collections are by Scott Ross and Celine Frisch.
I must add that once I had a friend give me a cat they had named Gizmo..(they gave him to me because he took to me instantly at their expense..) I wanted to re-name him D'anglebert...'cause he was the cutest little white crossed blue eyed cat I'd ever seen..he died too young for kidney failure in my arms 3 yrs. ago. I cried for months!
You might deduce from my You tube name that I play a Pleyel harpsichord...actually the last one built...I shall be doing videos as soon as I can get someone to do it for me....
Oh, extraordinary ! Here in France, we call this sort of Harpsichord : Sewing machine. Wanda Landowska was a 20th century's harpsichord pioneer on this instrument.
You should find one and revel in all the fabulous possibilities of color and expressive possiblities available. History aside, I'm convinced that if people in the past had had such resources thay would have been using it to its fullest extent. Thanks for not telling me I am all wrong...I know what I am doing! Wait until you see and hear my videos!!
Whoever is playing this is obviously not he who did the Chambonnieres. It is a much nicer instrument and the player knows how to keep his fingers on the keys and let the instrument SOUND.
En verdad que el grabado no le favorece...

Why is this man so horribly cross eyed?

Didn't your mother explain this stuff to you?!??!

What a lovely tale you tell, his crossed
eyes somehow make him much more endearing to me.

Well, it's either THAT, or, he was fooling around when he sat for the painting.

D'Anglebert est pour moi le plus grand pour ce qui est du style brisé. Juste une question, qui est l'interprète ?
Merci lutin pour toutes ces belles choses à entendre. Je ne m'en lasse pas
