If you want to listen to good music from this "generation" go find it. There are plenty of great artists trying to kick start their career, but they don't have enough of a fan base to make it. If you don't like the music that fills up the media, don't listen to it. Put in a little effort instead of relying on what's spoon fed to you. Go on forums and ask around about the kind of music you like. In this day and age no one has an excuse for not finding something.

@22hec44 Yeah, musicians have more of an opportunity to record & get their stuff out there on an international level today. But it's easier for us to listen to what is immediately available rather than sort through the massive amount of music that's out there. I know I'm guilty of it just because it does take time and some money. In the end it is worth it. I've found songs that really move me & it's also easier to make a personal connection with the artist as well. It's nice to support them :)

I'm 18, and yes there is enough good music out there... The fact that vast majority doesn't know decent independent or not artists doesn't mean that they don't exist ! We like to cry and say that today's music is dead. This demotes real artists and promotes fake music.

The problem is that most of us search for music in wrong places, e.g youtube that promotes industrial music.

If you want to listen to some independent artists with really good tastes check bandcamp, soundcloud etc.
