  • thanks for your motivational video. I can totally relate, so glad to hear what you went thru and your path is exactly what I am going thru now. the answer to your question is "watching videos like this, thanks again"!

  • thank you so much for the info and for telling me about the book book i will certainly check it out as I have a few people asking me questions concerning RAW FOOd living..

  • I was recently told that to many greens will give me kidney stones- is this true?

why am I turning yellow after eatting greens for a few months?

I LOVE eating raw and do not want to stop so please help me if you will.

  • @frugalnanny Hey Frugalnanny! I'm not a doctor so this is just some stuff I've read on what you're describing. An excessive amount of beta carotene, usually from consuming large amounts of raw carrot juice can lead to a temporary yellowing of the skin. Greens such as spinach and beet greens do contain oxylates that can lead to kidney stones if consumed in massive amounts over a long period of time. So rotate your greens between them and kale, dandelion and others for a healthy balance! :0)

  • @frugalnanny Also check out the book "Becoming Raw" it is a thorough scientifically referenced guide to the nutritional properties and healthy configuring of raw vegan diets! Great stuff! :0)

  • I went raw for about a month, but I went cold turkey so it didn't turn out so well lol. Now I'm a vegetarian. Trying to go towards vegan as soon as I learn how to substitute things!

  • i've been struggling with a 100% raw diet since around the time you started. But now, I'm back at 100% for the past month, and I'm really really getting stuff from what you do here. Especially in this video. So thanks, thanks for what you do. I'm sure that this has a spiritual dimension beyond the simplicity of food choice this is, is the way I feel now.

  • It's so utterly simple, it seems the natural way to eat! Why I didn't adopt it sooner is beyond me! I do sprout legumes and steam them well, those I cant tolerate raw in great abundance. But other than that, I don't miss cooked food in the least. I do have trouble with the amount of nuts and seeds some recipes call for, my body riots against that! So, I'm on a quest to find alternatives. The hard part is the reactions from others, they think I've become part of a cult or something! So be it!

  • Hey, RR, what part of the US do you live in? And can I come live with you for a while! I started Raw last year, doing 100%, but then it got to expensive for me and my partner to have two different diets. I need to stay with someone so I can jump start my raw journey again! I will work! Will work for room and board! Heheh!

  • Ice cream is the enemy! Beware of the ice cream!

I'm totally down with what your saying RawDawg. I just spent 7 hours in the rain with a jackhammer making holes for post so I can grow my own veggies. I live on rock surrounded by deer. Brave move packing up and starting a new chapter. Best wishes.

I have a green smoothie infusion daily and still think of ice cream once in a while. I have a raw recipe I can try for this addiction though. Group disscussion might be helpful. :)

  • Thank you RR. As always, I enjoyed this video and many things you shared hit home with me - very timely, so again I thank you.

You never know how many people you're helping with this :)

I've been very lucky in that I haven't deviated from this way of eating, but I do get my cravings! Right now I eat a big spoonful of almond butter with some agave and 2 bananas. That's my "junk food" fix.

Haha! Awesome snack! I do almost the same exact thing but with tahini and honey and use it as a dip for a couple of sliced-up bananas! Thanks again Debbie!! ~ Rory :0D
