Try using straight liquid dish soap. The dish soap is thick allowing the shot to be suspended longer allowing it to cool enough before hitting the bottom so it doesnt distort. My neighbor who shoots alot of trap makes probably 2 to 3 hundred pounds of shot every year this way.
Once again we are thinking along the same lines. I was just out in the garage experimenting with trying to figure out how to make my own shot with poor results. I googled lead shot making and your video came up, how ironic. The price of lead shot has gone sky high and I'm sick of buying high priced factory shells, so I wanted to make my own shot. I'll be keeping an eye on your results. There has got to be a simple way to do this and I'll keep searching till I find it. Good Luck, keep me informed
@mohunter68 I really have to circle back to this project. I did revise my design recently and it worked much better than this one. The new design is much shorter. Just a piece of angle iron that I polished. Im having a hard time regulating the heat and the lead kinda sticks to the edge of the ramp so Im still getting teardrops. At least its not popcorn shot anymore. Ill try to make a video on it soon.
@bcoverss Thanks man. I should pull it out off the back burner. Its been sittin back there for a while now. I see what I can do about improving it and making an action video.
Been checking back to see if you have had time to get this one up (BTW my comment has been removed?) anyway i see you haven't got around to this one yet, but i have been enjoying the vids youv'e been working on. Good stuff!

This looks like a great idea, and Sun Laundry detergent will give you more consistent sizes. Post a video of it in action. Well done, thanks.
