Looks like crevasse rescue training. The people belaying the falling person have to practice & know what it actually feels like when someone's full weight suddenly slams on the rope. It's NOT easy to hold them - especially when on very steep slopes. It's not easy to get out either.
Its great this is tought, because its a conditio sine qua non on glacier.
