The flash of light is called lightening or heat lightening. After the sound goes away you can hear the rain falling. Obviously the sound is coming from inside the house. Lastly, the panic level in this womans voice doesn't drop or increase. It just stays the same...even when she's "calling" 911.

@5tranger This doesn't occur only during cloudy skies. The same noise was heard by myself around my house in South GA and it was a clear sunny day. Nothing was in the sky to be seen, just this rumbling sound that actually had a choppy or "woamping" noise to it like a helicopters blades, just slower than they would be turning.

I was in the Air Force. Sure sounds to me like the sound when they are running up a jet engine to test it. 4 miles away, you could probably hear it, but not sure about that loud. If it was pointing towards your house you could. When i first heard this it reminded me of being back on the flight line and hearing jets getting ready to take off. Only time that sound lasts that long, is when they are stress testing the engines.

This is my first ever youtube comment. I had no idea this happened in Florida until my mom told me this past weekend. However, I've heard this exact same thing last for about 15 min in south GA around Jan. 4th 2012. It literally freaked me out because I couldn't understand it. Between 7:38 - 7:42 there appears to be little white light "orbs" blinking on and off on the tree line in the background. I kept hitting play and stop, over and over, and you can see them appear in one place, disappear and then reappear in a slightly different location. I don't see them after the large flash of light. Curious.

@Onlymanolos Interesting! I found an other clip with similar roaring sound. And it also ends little after a flash of bright light in the clouds. Light comes instantly but sound travels only about 340 meters/second. I think the sound goes off simultanously with the blink of light. The flash of light is called lightening or heat lightening. After the sound goes away you can hear the rain falling. Obviously the sound is coming from inside the house. Lastly, the panic level in this womans voice doesn't drop or increase. It just stays the same...even when she's "calling" 911.

Nothing was in the sky to be seen, just this rumbling sound that actually had a choppy or "woamping" noise to it like a helicopters blades, just slower than they would be turning.

I've been hearing in Amarillo TX for months now ... only a few occasions. I noticed long before I ever heard any mention of the "sound phenomena" ... At first I just though they were testing a jet engine at an airport for small planes about 3 miles off, but as far as I know there are no jet engine planes there ... and the main airport is about 15-20 miles off ... too far to be hearing anything from there ... I was in the Air Force. Sure sounds to me like the sound when they are running up a jet engine to test it. 4 miles away, you could probably hear it, but not sure about that loud. If it was pointing towards your house you could. When i first heard this it reminded me of being back on the flight line and hearing jets getting ready to take off. Only time that sound lasts that long, is when they are stress testing the engines.
