  • China will be the next world superpower in about 50 years guranteed. As they continue to assimilate our technology and build the industrial infrastructure to support their society. Their biggest problems are lack of females for marriage due to population control and food issues. Only time will tell if they can overcome that. Of course, they'll always have South America and USA to buy food from, and we'll continue to build factories in China to give them work.

  • THIS SONG IS FREAKING BADASS!!!!!! GO LI....

  • Now I'm a man of determination to kick the asses of 2 people that disliked this video

  • This song transcends nationality/ethnicity and expresses the ideals of those who conduct themselves with great purpose. If only more people would conduct themselves in a character within the context of this song (in absence of political motives) we might have a better society.

  • @Hero32388 - well put! Your ideal of a "society in which everyone is noble" is common in fictional literature.Think of Tolkien's Riders of Rohan and Elvish races, of Lucas Jedi Knights, of Clancy's morally faultless soldiers and sailors, .A real example that comes close is the stirring accounts of the Japanese people following the tsunami: looting was nearly unheard of, and most fascinating was a story of a store running out of water. Instead of acting out, the line of people quietly dispersed.

  • this song makes me thing of an anime called "Bleach"

  • I wouldn't mind if this song was 40 hours long.

  • saw a video of george lam recently... he has gotten pretty old. when it is time for him to meet his maker, the world would have lost a great singer. nobody will ever sing this long like he does.

  • I remember the movie using "my blood is boiling" at one part of this song. would the translation here be more accurate? I just thought the "my blood is boiling" part was freaking epic and it sent shivers down my spine :)

thank you for the upload. I'll start listening to this more frequently and adhering to the message it's giving.

  • my personal opinion is" great man" part can be changed to "real man".

  • or before he dies too...It seems he closer to death than i am but anyone can die at any time.

  • Man Jet Li has always been one of my role models when i was younger and still is...I want to meet Jet Li before I die.

  • @CommodoreDixon It's not a series, it's a tetralogy of movies called Once Upon a Time in China. They're on youtube in parts.

  • Damn...This song makes me want to take kung fu!

  • this should be the national athem of china! it givs me a feeling that china is coming back into power after decades of evil white imperialism and civil wars

  • The meaning of this song fits Wong Fei Hung's character as he is known as the hero of china.

  • Thank you so much! This is marvelous!

  • I'm saudi girl and I'm doing shaolin kung fu - I started 3 months ago - its painful and it takes alot of effort and hard work and needs endless patience!

    but I love it

I want to go to china and do kung fu trianing in shaolin tample and be the first saudi girl to be trained in shaolin tample! :)

  • @OTnajjar

    Marry me :)

  • ITS AS GOOD TRANSLATION AS IT GETS .GREAT JOB !!!!!!

  • @fluntboy1 id never say i speak any good chinese but at 0:44 the next sentence isnt it "be good chinese (han) " ?

  • @SpiritWanderer91 good job . its the same character with multiple meanings .

but in this case 做好汉 in said sentence in my option means" be a good man"

汉子 and 男儿 both mean "man" through out the song

  • @fluntboy1 thanks, well chinese is a wonderful language with many ways of interpretation or better to say with deeper meaning in the letters. Which is why kaligraphy in this language can reveal anything. But thanks for clearing it up :-)

  • Wonderful translation! I'll post it on my facebook.

    Thanks

  • 2 people must have missed the like button

  • Azn songz rule...

i am glad i can speak cantonese

  • Wong Fei Hung was a real person .

  • in asian countries it goes: fight with an old man get, get beaten up, in america fight with old man, ur wanted for attempted murder

  • Whats the name of the movie in this thanks

  • The fight with Jet Li & Donnie in Once Upon a Time in China 2 is epic.

  • Stephen Chow would of been great if this movie was a comedy...

  • I am proud to be a shoalin student .. i have beeen studying it only for 3 weeks now .. and I am 21 years old .. its never too late to join the kung fu .. its the best mertial art ever.. respect!

  • I think it's the best subtitled video for this particular song on youtube.

  • WONG FEI HUNG and FONG SAI YUK ! :>

Awesome movies, the sheer mentality of asian heroes is awesome.

we should all learn from martial arts'

  • @DarkRezo only learn martial arts from self defense and train ur mind

  • Have you ever wondered what the theme song (A Man Of Determination) for Once Upon A Time In China means in English? Well, the English subtitles are attached to this song for the convenience of our English readers. Hope you enjoy listening to the song.

  • tttsss!!!!! with subs!!!!! Thanks!!!!

  • those movies were the best thing ever when I was a teenager! Good Times!

  • sweet

  • man this is so awesome thanks!

  • That was kick ass!

  • excellent just what i was looking for, great job!

  • chinese fight scenes make western shaky cam slow ass fighitng look like a fuckin joke

  • @ricefarmer that's because it is a joke :P hehe. We have actors not fighters. China has both :P china wins :D

  • @ricefarmer thats why you need to learn kung fu...like im doing

  • @ricefarmer right?! seriously

  • @ricefarmer - you're so right about the superiority of chinese fight choreography over US movies. They have to shake the camera around so hard to hide the low quality. They think the shaking "makes it look cool" or "gives a frenetic feel to the action" but i'm not fooled.

The kung fu in even the dumbest martial arts movie is often breathtaking.

  • @ricefarmer Well they had about 3.000 years of practice...

  • @ricefarmer Totally, those western fights are alot more brute boxing while the chinese have more of an art.

  • this song is awesome so as the show!

  • The sparring match wtih Donnie Yen & Jet Li was sooo awesome..

  • why can't use the character names? Gee!

Jet Li is acting as 'Wong Fei Hung' and Donnie Yen is as 'General Nap Lan'. Jet Li didn't really fight him and Donnie Yen didn't die cause of a bamboo stick thing hitting his neck. GEE

  • nice

  • I wish we had sweet songs like this in America for us

  • Comment removed

  • agree

  • Somehow this type of song wouldn't work for Americans; and that's too bad, for this song is EPIC !

  • @HalfBreedMix

    Truer words are rarely spoken.

  • @HalfBreedMix Nah man, this song is manly, why wouldn't Americans like it?

  • @IrregularGamma Because Americans don't want to be heros, they just want to make money.

  • @chillwill120 Not all Americans are like that. I'd love to be a hero. =D

  • @IrregularGamma True, that makes two of us.

  • @chillwill120 Well what do you mean by Americans? Do you mean the original Americans or the contemprary.

  • @chillwill120 My friend, there's not a hero in the world!

  • @HalfBreedMix You are absolutely right. They'll rather listen to untalented idiots like Soldier boy and Rebecca Black instead of appreciating the talent that goes into creating master pieces such as this one!

  • @HalfBreedMix

im american and asian person so i understand it well

  • Interesting... I've run through a few translations so far, and you're the first to point out the 10,000 waves correctly.

    Grats.

However your translation is "to separate heaven and earth", where others are "to explore heaven and earth".

From what I'm hearing, it should be to explore, rather than separate.

  • @DestAeval - d canto words sound like "opening heaven and forcing the earth". U wld need 2 see d actual chinese characters to determine the correct translation. If what I heard is right, then it shld be "to conquer heaven and earth".

But on d whole, an excellent translation.

  • @jchan39

The word is indeed "open", 開 (/watch?v=gcETObrVfKg&feature=related 1:39), but the meaning behind it I'm not certain. I only know basic Chinese speech, and very basic characters. (Most) Metaphors and the like are above me.

Ex: "bones" (骨) referring to "one's character" in the above translation. I wouldn't have known that.

  • Kick arse. Thanks for uploading.

  • no sweat

  • @kitfuC hey shouldn't be my blood is hotter than the sun

  • @kitfuC also shouldn't it be as a hero i must exercise everyday

  • @kitfuC Totally badass! You should make a video with bruce lee with the song and subtitles. Nice job!!

  • very awesome lyrics

  • Cool!
