I'm glad they didn't get married...she would probably be seen more as a lady in the sexist eyes of that time, and had to stay around the castle doing queen things and poppin' out little royal brats. With her not having that particular title, she can now be closer to him in a different way, horseback riding along the country side..and... stuff

I hate historically inaccurate these kind of films are Prince John did become King - he rule was restrained by Magna Carta then it went to Henry 3rd. not this a bad film, just wish they would choose a villian who didn't actually get the thing they wanted in reality.

I've noticed two things on this part that I don't think anyone else has:

1. They spelt Keira's surname wrong in the credits-it's Knightley, not Knightly

2. Gwyn never actually tells Philip her name but he seems to somehow know it anyway throughout the film

I find it really hard to believe that only one person out of the thousands who have watched this wonderful movie has noticed these things!!!

Wasn't Robin Hood of nobel blood and got back his lands after Richard returned to English throne? Gwyn was a daughter of a knight and a lady, not a common thief, i think they mixed something up ... Gwyn and Philippe could get married :D

Dude What about Robin Hood; I mean there are parts of this movie where he looks at his daughter and sees his wife Marion. Especially at the end when Philp comes riding in on the horse; you can totally tell as Gywin turns her head Robin is reminded of his wife. Now that is my personal opnion on saddness. I actually really like the ending :) gwyn is free to lead the life she always wanted, following her fathers footsteps. And Phillip never marrying and pledging himself to her is very sweet and it means they could still be together without the pressure and intrigue of court life if they had married. I think they were both very wise to be happy not to marry.

She should have the birth right because according to most of the movies her mother was the cousin of King Richerd and her father the lord of Locksley Hall. So that should not only make noble, but blood related to the late King through her mother.
