  • Take the concept of bias further, compassion toward sentient beings is also biased. Compassion that's not based on relatedness is really unbiased. But, that kind of compassion is probably impossible to find, and not useful at all. So, why do we care if our compassion is biased or not, except to be aware of it?

  • I don't know who he kept looking at, but you can tell the DL is really passionate about this topic by his body language...I felt a little chastised with all that finger wagging though, I feel sorry for whoever he kept looking towards!

Pertinent point though, wish more people would embrace it! :)

  • @JazzDragon022 lol --chastised by the finger-wagging! The DL is sweet..

  • @JazzDragon022 Looking left, he was answering a question from a person in the audience. When he looks off to his right, he is glancing at his translators/advisers to make sure he is saying the right word in English or asks them for the translation of a word/phrase into English. :)

  • @daveursillo Ah this explains it, thanks! I know the DL is sweet, and I didn't *really* feel chastised, I just usually see him laughing so much so I was a little intrigued. He shouldn't worry about a translator though, he is more fluent in english than some native speakers! :)

  • I enjoy this talk. There is only one universal love. All else is attachment, Even the love of a parent for a child is not 'uncondtional love' as it is conditional to a particular child. Universal love and compassion is part of 'the way'.
