That stretch ain't really SC lol. It's a different world upstate! Not that they drive any better anywhere else though. I hate 85 it's because of ATL on one side and Charlotte!! Now Charlotte is one of my least favorite places to drive anything in! I just don't get Charlotte AT ALL!!! the main problem is governed trucks! That's the real issue here as most of the trux in the middle were castrated trux.

Little tucker, I don't think you understand the reasons why people are driving in the middle lane. The reason people are in the middle lane, is because - the far left lane is reserved for PASSING and PASSING only. It seems most people don't understand this. The right two lanes are for normal travel. So, why the middle lane? Well, think about it. If you're coming up on exits, (where most three lane stretches are near) you will want to be away from the right lane to avoid merging traffic.

I must say, freeway traffic in SC is the least of my worries. I moved here from MI, and I want to strangle the drivers here. People pull crazy shit, and no one seems to care! I have never heard a horn! People run lights, speed 15-20 over in pedestrian areas, and cops don't do shit about it! People pull out in front of you, no signal whatsoever, and then go 10 under. Also, I have never in my entire life seen so many accidents! I wonder why.

Oh, I do realize why they do it. I know that is the main reason truckers do it, too. BUT.....The rule is slower traffic keep right, so the middle lane is also a passing lane for moderately speeding vehicles. I guess my real complaint is that the slowest traffic seems to hover in the center, meaning trucks have to pass on the right dodging all the ramp traffic... Thanks for watching!!

Here it is only 3 lanes wide, much harder to manuever around... In Atanta, the middle lanes slow down, but at least we are 7 lanes wide approaching town , makes it a little better, at least until rush hour.....YIKES

If you had paid attention, you would notice that I did not criticize South Carolina, I simply stated that I never get to see the good parts , only the congested middle lane while passing through. I have noticed that the majority of the vehicles are indeed locals, while a small percentage are out of state. I did not blame the state for anything, I just dislike the drivers...

I am not fussing about ALL center lane traffic, most people make good use of the lane, for merging and passing. It is just in South Carolina, it seems to be the picnic lane, or the breakdown lane, where their minds have a breakdown and they forget what they are doing. But, you get better reception on your cell phone in the center lane... Okay Rant Over!!

See, I disagree....While I bitch and fuss about SC....The traffic up in NJ and NYC runs fairly smooth. When its open, its wide open and they will run your ass over. But when it is backed up, I take the go-arounds and avoid the heavy delays.  I heart NYC...

People in the left lane move to the middle so they don't hold up other cars plus they think they will be targeted first for speeding in the left lane,they can hide in the middle lane.*crazy right? people hate the right lane because of the on-ramp , they hate to slow down for people trying to get onto the highway. It's too hard for them to move over and keep the same speed,they always slow down causing others to slow down.Truck Drivers should be allowed to run in the left lane like everyone else.

The real point of my frustration is that the SLOWEST moving traffic hovers in the middle lane....NOt so much people coming out of the left lane (passing lane). The right lane has become the passing lane for Big Trucks, because of the slow movers in the middle. What ever happened to Slow Traffic Keep Right!!

I avoid most of NC by taking the back roads, but I cant find a way around SC..Yeah, last week with holiday traffic, it took me 7 hours to get through North Carolina.....only 233 miles...7 HOURS!!!!!
