  • who cares if its copied or not, bottom line is that its simply eargasmic.

lets just all sit back and enjoy the music.

  • good muse song

  • @TheFrostchild no its actually done by dream theater

  • @cmhonsu33 known..but it was a joke.. but still interesting who copied who

  • @TheFrostchild acaully i dont know! i think dream theater might of copied but i dont care

  • some respect for Dream Theater, hater, try to play like him and come back to me.

  • one m0:00re time !!

  • 7 people put the knife in wrong :/

  • Amazing that this song is an amazing song but in the same way it is a rant about some DT fans and how ungrateful they are. Well Dream Theater, I do enjoy the musical orgasms you provide me every day.

  • What did my ears just hear, cause that was the most awesome music, oh yeah and why are you arguing about MUSE in a Dream Theater song.

  • @winrar88 you are one seriously stupid, annoying bitch. You really think that you are so mature if you use complicated words and call everyone teenager, andtelling them to die, come on, a mature person doesnt do stuff like this.OH and I even saw your comment,in which you wrote "oh so you came back from under ya rock" or something like that, nevermind.... So, you are watching @RaidenOfDarkness until he responds, you must be the kid, not him, and, PLEEZ dont tell people 2 die cuz its fking unmature

  • And I am not fucking curious for any of your comebacks, so please "mature" sir, dont bother writing here.

  • Oh! GOD! nice song!!

PD: Dream Theater and Muse; the best bands in the fucking whole UNIVERSE!

  • Dream Theater kicks ass, Muse kicks ass...get over it and enjoy the music people!!!

  • @drumgy8 DT sucks overindulgent balls ..

  • @snaredrum110 To each his own dude. I think they're pretty rad.

  • Why is peoples evening mentioning Muse in here? Shit yourself and listen to the music.

  • @NaruHB because this song is inspired by muse during the absolution era. mike loved it. if you know muse good enough, you'll hear similarities between muse's style and this song. but i understand you may find it a bit strange hear a bit too much about muse, and a bit too little about dt here :P

  • @Jarstlord Now when you say it, yes there is similarities between them

  • @NaruHB who's muse ?

  • @lsmartin96 A nice band

  • @lsmartin96 one of the best bands of the world, search it!

  • Who cares about Muse. this is Dream Theater here.

  • @bassmanjoe Exactly. Muse is really quite terrible. It it weren't for Twilight and Hot topic (shudder!) they would be 100% irrelevant. Instead, they're relevant only to the most douchy 1%!

  • @NukeGlendale It's all a matter of opinion, if you don't like them just ignore them. Dream Theater is amazing, Muse is amazing (in my opinion).

  • @NukeGlendale it's honestly unfortunate that they turned out to be that kind of band, muse was pretty decent prior to the twilight shit.

  • Intro is sick

  • Why did the MUSE Theater song have to leave us? Great comparison of two great bands.

  • why is everyone talking about muse just shut up and listen.

  • For 6 people, everything is never enough..

  • How about we all just shut up? You don't compare Lady Gaga to Dream theater, so leave Muse out of this and listen to the darn song. :P

  • @CuriousComposer But Lady Gaga and Dream Theater sound nothing alike... hahaha! There are a few songs that sound similar to Muse that are by Dream Theater. It's an influence thing... It's gonna happen. :)

  • Lot's of bands are inspired by Muse. Thomas Giles from Between the Buried and Me loves them too. Listen to Backwards Marathon ;)

  • i know DT first.. then muse... but i just love both..coz they are billiant in musics.. not like some artist starts with J.. u know who i mean

  • why so many haters of muse? muse is amazing

  • @InfamousTrapper25 Muse is indeed an awesome band, Dream Theater is just x10^100 better :D

  • @InfamousTrapper25 I don't always listen to progressive rock

but when I do I prefer Dream Theater.

  • @6dhampyr6castle6 same haha

  • @6dhampyr6castle6 what does that have to do with my comment....

  • @InfamousTrapper25 Muse sucks

  • @konj49 what are you basing this off of?

  • @InfamousTrapper25 yeah but dream theater are better

  • 2:33 Bliss? lol

  • Muse are just better.

  • @ben89021

    never

  • @ben89021 1/10

  • @ben89021 Muse are better??

  • @ben89021 I am a muse fan, but in this ocation they arent better than Dream Theater D:!

  • @Kafixis You just commented...and so did I...and so did you or someone else when they reply to this comment...and so on.

  • @Kafixis all but kittens. I'm more of a dog person.

  • I actually feel that this is more similar to Hysteria than Stockholm Syndrome... Its in the Exact same scale shape and has identical rhythm. The first notes sound the same too, just different keys

  • Is that 4/4 I hear???

  • @AfterlifeBlack: Yes, I know DT considers it a weird time signature, but, you have any problem?

  • @progrockkeyboardist Oh yes!!! I just hate 4/4 so much that I wanna punch babies!! It's a huge problem for me!! Let's fight about it like the 2 million other people on Youtube!! **Insert Sarcasm here**. It's a joke, calm down.

  • @AfterlifeBlack Pull Me Under anyone? :P

  • @rabidmonk5 Haha I guess you're right!!!

  • This song reminds me of Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome is my favorite Muse song. Glad to hear another song similar to it! Now that I think about it, this album does seem somewhat like Absolution but different. Absolution is my favorite Muse album, too, so this is a good thing! :D

  • This song, and Prophets Of War, are Muse influenced. You can hear it in the instrumentation. I love Muse and Dream Theater so I'm definitely not complaining! :)

  • 3:32 O_O orgasm!

  • All of you are just a bunch of trolling assholes, Can't you guys just stfu and listen to the fucking music, even dislike it if your a hater GET THE FUCK OUT IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH IT!

    Thumbs up if you agree!

  • @Coolmandang aww, the poor fuck doesn't know what trolling is. and no thumbs up for you, you little thumbs up whore.

  • Why do I think of Muse when I listen to Dream Theater.

  • @tropsnaj That's one of the thing I hate about this album. It should feel like DT but it doesn't. I miss the 90's.

  • @tropsnaj Come on...really? I like Muse too, but these two bands are vey diferent. Of course, when I think of DT, I don't imagine only Octavarium, but the entire discography. For me, Dream Theater is ... unique.

  • @tropsnaj Only this song probably.

  • Does anyone know what the hell an octavarium is?

  • how bout you all STFU, if ur so good or know so much go make your own damn music! or better yet STFU and enjoy the music, since you obviously cant and wont and all you are is a bunch of talking shit heads. kinda like a sunday school teacher, go try that out for a profession if you like bitching about random shit u know nothing about.

  • Muse sucks but this song is cool.

  • @Foop7 I'd sure like to know how Muse enters into a Dream Theater song. Muse is, for the most part, a talentless group. Can't really compare them to Dream Theater at all, and trying to would be a losing battle for Muse.

  • @AventhLomicien i am sure when a band becomes influence for another band has to have something special, so Muse can not be talentless to inspire Dream theater. Have you heard songs like space demntia or citizen erase or ruled by secrecy or take a bow.. This songs can;t be written by a talentless guy. They are both great and talented bands with lot potential. i am glad that mike portnoy is openminded.

  • @Djfusio666 Yes yes yes yes! Being openminded is probably one of the best things for a music fan to be! It's also always good to be reminded that musicians are just as open minded, they have to be otherwise I'm sure their inspiration would run dry...

It's just a sad thing to see 'music fans' flat out denying the talent of a band just because the music the band write write isn't to their taste. If only we could all be as openminded towards music.

  • @mohawkgarry yes i agree we should not criticise other for listening sth. We can say muse is better or dream theater is like comparing different things, differnet genres and totally different sound. I understand when someone says i do not like muse but when he says muse sucks or they are talentless group, i know that he have not listen any muse songs. I know muse have commercial songs like neutron star but you have t sell your soul to become famous know or succeed in America

  • @AventhLomicien Yeah, Muse sucks dick lmao.

  • Also, as far as this stupid bickering about Muse... who says this is a ripoff? What if DT were simply inspired by Muse? It's known that while DT records albums they listen to other music that influences them. In one video I even saw it say "Muse riff" on one of their song-sheets (might've been for Stream of Consciousness). Every artist's music is essentially a combination of all the other artists' music that THEY'VE enjoyed.

  • Does anyone else thing that the lyrics Mike wrote to this song are a hint that he might be leaving the band soon?

  • @RICbass78 This just dawned on me as I was listening to it for the first time in years...

  • Me as a big big BIG fan of Muse in all of their albums and songs I must say that, yeah it sounds like them but well, there a lot of songs anywhere that sound like from another band. I accept that when I hear this the first thing I thought was "Stockholm Syndrome" and for a DT fan if hears it the first thing he will hear will be "Never Enough"... No band wats to rip any band's song, that's for sure...ROCK MUSE AND DT!!!!! (and A7X, but that's appart xD)

  • 6:12 is the beginning of Killing in the name of !

  • Isso é Stockholm do Muse ' kk

  • Ok, stop being dipshits and enjoy the goddamn music. You're embarasing yourselves.

  • just got into this band and holy shit!

The only music i listen to is music that has talent behind it no matter what the genre and this is amazing!!!

  • People comparing Dream Theater to Muse is like comparing Jesus to a hobo, Muse like the hobo would happily be payed to get analy raped by the other, in awe.

  • @nokroblosho Except I don't remember Jesus saying he considered the hobo one of the more impressive bands of the last year. Everyone has influences.

  • @nokroblosho mature comment kid we all like diffrent kind of music so grow up and stop posting retarded comments on youtube and oh btw no one is comparing them so stfu kid

  • To clarify on this drama, on who ripped on who, no one did.

You see, Mike Portnoy wrote a list of his 10 favourite albums released in 2004 in which he included Absolution as the first on the list. Next to it, he wrote "(technically this is a 2003 release - but it is hands down my favorite CD of the year and probably the decade as well!)"

Dream Theater was influenced by Muse's Absolution so much, that songs like this and panic attack was a honorable token to Muse. No ripping of, just influence.

  • @KnighferDK

tal vez se vieron influenciados por el disco pero definitivamente este disco es de gente mucho mas experimentada, estudiada y sin lugar a dudas técnicamente mejor

  • @seco914 In my own personal opinion, Muse is my all time favorite band, because it's them i hear all the time. But i won't deny, that Dream Theater are in many ways, technically better then Muse.

Because of that. The day i found out, how a band like DT, where so influenced by Muse, it made me every so much happy.

Sadly, i only got the newest Dream Theather album, but i hope to find this album one day. :)

  • @KnighferDK

That should be no surprise at all. Muse are a very respected band amongst other musicians. They have been praised by much more famous and respectable artists than Dream Theater. Brian May of Queen is a very huge fan of Muse's work for example.

  • Just so every one knows DT started in 1985 when Muse started in 1994, so stop saying stupid shit like "DT ripped off Muse" or "Muse ripped off DT" as flyingmanforfun said, you guys are retards and for the record Muse was inspired by DT so without DT you guys wouldn't have Muse

  • @RaidenOfDarkness actually they werent inspired by DT i have only heard a few dt songs and not a single one sounds like muse

  • @flyingmanforfun I did my homework, Muse was inspired by DT

  • @RaidenOfDarkness they wherent ask any one-.-

  • @flyingmanforfun well does anyone include the idiots on here?

  • @flyingmanforfun yes they were. it's on the list of inspirations on one of the band members site, i forgot who. but i remember seeing it a while ago. does that mean you don't know what you're talking about? irony..

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

Go and redo your homework, kid. Try to find a single quote where any member of Muse even MENTIONS Dream Theater. Can you do that for me? Cause I can show you a couple of quotes where Mike Portnoy talk about Muse like an impressed fanboy.

  • @winrar88 Mike Portnoy is an amazing drummer but he is also dumb ass. And there are a few documentaries that Muse has said that they were inspired by bands such as DT, Iron Maiden, B.O.C, and other amazing bands

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

Your opinion of Mike Portnoy is of no relevance here. I just want to see at least one direct quotation of ANYONE from Muse even mentioning this ridiculous band. That's all I asked for here, dude. It shouldn't be that hard if they're so "inspired" by them as you mentioned. Try backing your claims up.

  • @winrar88 Ridiculous? This band is 20x better than Muse who is a knock off peice of shit band that only wishes that they could be any where near DT's level

  • @winrar88 And on top of that Muse is in the music business or he money, the sex and the fame. They are a fucking joke band that doesn't deserve the fame

  • @winrar88 On top of that Muse is a fucking joke band, they're in it for the money, fame, and the sex.

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

Of course they're in it for the money. The same with any POP musician group, including this silly band called Dream Theater. Except they can only dream and wish to have even a fraction of the success and fame of Muse. No wonder Mike Portnoy gave up this pathetic group to chase after Avenged Sevenfold. Too bad those guys kicked that loser out in the end..lol

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

And you have to learn something here. MONEY is what makes this world go round...that and sex of course. Now maybe when you move out of your parents home to live by yourself with no one to pay for those video-games you play, then you will realize how imporant money is.

  • @winrar88 HA! You take me as some little brat. Dude money is what corrupts the world and turns every body into incompetent, immature, jack asses such as yourself. Sex is one thing this world can do with out as well considering we have way to many people in the world. And who said I played video games? And money is only important because its how we organize trade and business. Without that we would have to find a new way to do trade. And because our government is full of corrupt bastards.

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

lol So you finally decided to come out from hiding in your basement. I can't believe it took you that long to make such a weak meandering responce. What a bunch of nonsensical leftist garbage you are spewing here. If you really believe this earth is so overpulated, then maybe you should help out by ending your worthless existence. This planet really doesn't need such feeble minded cretins like you infesting it.

  • @winrar88 Just letting you know, you're both losing this argument ..

  • @peckjeremy1

Try finishing that little thought process before you even reply to me. If you're not capable of elaborating beyond one fragmented sentence, don't even bother responding here. It's best you just scamper off like this other fool before it's too late.

  • @winrar88 Telling someone to commit suicide is stupid beyond belief, and you should burn in hell for even thinking it. If you think this world is great and perfect then by all means go live your life like theres nothing wrong. Until you realize that the world we live in has gone to hell, your always going to have this one track mind that makes you think "Oh we have a great world" or "Its such a great day to be alive" or some other bull shit.

  • Comment removed

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

Hey moron, that was only my kind suggestion. I'm not "telling" you to go ahead and kill yourself but merely to consider it. Since of course this world is not perfect with so many retards like you taking up space and oxygen. The least you can do is help out abit by ending your insignificant life, and finally leave your made up "hell" already. There will be just one less annoying teenage malcontent whining over nothing. Good riddance!

  • Comment removed

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

Now try getting back on topic. Don't think you can just skirt around here like a bitch. Go prove your claims about the DT influence, or just concede you were wrong and move on. Then you can go back to hiding in your basement and I wont disturb you.

  • @winrar88 My house doesn't have a basement. And if you have ever seen a Muse documentary then you would know that they were influenced by DT. And you? Disturb me? I really doubt you could do that.

  • Comment removed

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

Anyone here can do a quick youtube or google search and find DT are huge Muse aficionados. It is that fucking easy to verify. Yet, it's the exact opposite in reverse. Why is it so damn hard to find Muse even uttering the words "Dream Theater" in any interview? Why is that info. hidden in some obscure documentary you can't even name? Those are not rhetorical questions by the way. Try answering them with whatever limited brain capacity you have.

  • @RaidenOfDarkness

I have been following the debate between you two and i have to say that winrar88 is winnig big :). You said that Muse is doing music for sex and money and fame. Of course they are. So are DT and other big bands. Music isn't a hobby for these guys, it's serious work wich they enjoy doing and they want to get pais for it. I think DT isn't stealing riffs and songs from other bands. Maybe it's influence or respect or something like that. Good band and song anyways.

  • @Lateezz Dt actually does this because they enjoy playing the music and doing to for their fans, bands like Muse, Metallica, Dethklok and other bands do it for the fame and could care less about the fans. And you do have a point on the respect part, cause bands like Avenged Sevenfold covered 2 great songs from 2 great bands out of respect for the band and that they also inspired them. And I agree with your last sentence

  • @flyingmanforfun and a song doesn't have to sound like muse for them to be inspired by them. that's not what inspiration even means.

  • One thing, alot of people say that this is a "simpler song" when in my eyes, it has just as much feeling as their other songs, also, I think that a song should be complex from the feeling, no the length or whatever the people are saying that has them say that it's simple.

  • JEEZ!!!

these guys can truly inspire many

AND create some of the most epic songs!

  • Comment removed

  • First of all, I'm a big fan of DT.

Basically, this song is written by Mike Portnoy.

And he used to give an interview about Muse's Absolution (2003) album is one of his favorite albums. And also "Stockholm Syndrome" is a very good song, and he really likes it.

As a result, it's hard for me to believe it, but we cannot deny this fact that MP copied the Muse's song (Stockholm Syndrome).

  • @ServantOvDeth I wouldn't say copied... I would say really inspired by. They are just structured similarly, which is probably not an accident.

  • The Intro...i meen...it's...the INTRO!!

  • @drummerexpress muse are a fabulous band. If I'm being honest Probs my favourite. Muse haven't made Amy mistakes. All there songs and albums are perfect whereas dream theater have had some experiments tht haven't worked out. Ur right they ain't comparable but because muse r way better altho dream theatre r a great band

  • @Technique71 You're wrong dawg.

Although I might be a LITTLE biased because I just so happen to just not like Muse at all....

  • Nice song Hard^ +5

  • Listen Stockholm Syndrome by muse and then this song and u'll realize that this song sounds the same

  • @matinx64 You mean Stockholm Syndrom sounds the same... This song is far older! But Muse's song is a great song and Muse was a great band before they decided to do commercial music. :s

  • @gapmatt2208 Stockholm Syndrome was released along with "Absolution" in 2003. So this song is not older. Mike Portnoy also cited Absolution as one of the albums DT had listened to most while on tour, so this song is really inspired by Muse.

  • @matinx64 Sorry guy, I spoke too quickly, you're right about that point! I was certain Octavarium was written in the late 90's... :/

  • I love this song! ^^

    Susy

  • Comment removed

  • I know muse are awesome 'n all....but don't compare them to this level of amazingness known as dream theater, seriously.

  • these song is just ridicolous....the true dream theater is another thing...

they dont need to copy Muse...

    Shitavarium....

  • @Celestial897 Shhhhhh...

  • when did this come out? 2006? muse released absolution 2003 so any 1 sayin muse ripped dt of are retarded any 1 sayin dt ripped of muse are retard its called being inspired and stop comparing 2 awesome bands its starting to piss me of when kids who know nothings start sayin that any of these bands suck seriusly grow up!

  • @flyingmanforfun

Nobody ripped anybody off. Muse makes their music, and DT makes their own music. DT specifically said that they took inspiration from Muse for this album. Musicians do that sometimes; when they find a sound they like they will run with it. Besides, this was almost exclusively a one-time thing. Since this album they went in a very different direction, more towards what could possibly (in part) be considered as modern psychedelic music.

  • @flyingmanforfun scuse me men but muse and dream theater are not two awesome band! Dream Theater is an awesome band and is way better than muse! You cannot compare them

  • @drummerexpresss how old are you 12? no wait thats to old maby 8?ur comment just wow....

  • @flyingmanforfun grow up nd lrn 2 spll

  • @flyingmanforfun its very possible that Muse went forward in time to discover this song which inspired absolution, so they went back and made it and then DT heard it and the album inspired this song. thats what likely happened.

  • @flyingmanforfun Stop telling kids to grow up :P

  • @harvester6699 well some one has to;)

  • @flyingmanforfun I can't remember where I have watched it but Mike Portnoy has mentioned this he is a big fun of MUSE. And that's a big reason of my love about Mike, he never rejected the point of being fan of another band. Older or newer one....!

  • @flyingmanforfun I do think it sounds very similar though, haha when I was listening to this I was like, wow this is pretty awesome, kind of reminds me of the awesomeness of Muse's Absolution album, then I saw your comment.

  • @flyingmanforfun If you want to call other people on the internet children, write like an adult. Otherwise, I agree whole-heartedly with your statement.

  • @flyingmanforfun We'll grow up when you learn correct grammar, sir.

  • @flyingmanforfun Muse sucks... Just saying

  • @JTBADRS Of course they do! They got a supermassive black hole :-)

  • @Jarstlord: DT has "You Not Me". Does this mean DT sucks too? // Anyone could have a bad, uninspired day, you know. Let us remember DT and Muse for great epics like Six Degrees and Exogenesis, respectively.

  • @progrockkeyboardist I guess you didn't get me. I love all Muse's songs, including Supermassive Black Hole. It was a pun because a supermassive black hole absorbs all energy near it. Thus, a supermassive black hole sucks. I was talking about the term, not the song (I spelled my previous comment the right way). DT is great, Muse is great ;)

  • @Jarstlord: Hahaha! What a tool I am!

  • Sounds like muse? HA!

Dream Theater is the band Muse wants to be when it grows up.

  • @Sharpandpointless you don't really know what you're talking about ;)

  • @zeronovantuno if you looked/listened through DT's catalouge you would see that you don't either.

  • @Sharpandpointless kinda funny how u said grows up since muse is much bigger than dream theater idiot-.-

  • This sounds nothing like Muse. I listen to both bands alot... obviously more than you "observers"

  • Well they admitted that some songs from this album were influenced by Muse, so yeah obviously it'll sound like Muse at some points...

Definitely NOT Muse or a Muse-rip though. Uniquely Dream Theater :)

  • sounds very similar to Assassin from Muse

  • Thumbs up if u think that Whole Octavarium is sooo damn EPIC!

  • @danmos612 their whole discography is epic!

  • yeah, it sounds like Muse, so what? I am a HUGE fan of Muse, my favorite album is Absolution, sure this song is influenced by Muse. I really like this song :P

  • 3:30 sound is the most freakin, awsome, sonic/synth sound i ve ever heard! SET IT ON RINGTONE!

  • @tomekrzadki It is awesome, ain't it? :D

  • Who else thinks that the drum intro is fucking baddass. And STOP bitching about muse in case you haven't read properly it's written Dream Theater, NOT MUSE. So stop trolling us about Muse

  • My 14 year old brother has just covered this on drums, have a look on my channel :)

  • This Is My Fave Song By Them;D

  • its like Hysteria
