If you know that what can be done is finite, then you would be able to pinpoint the instant the number had been reached. Otherwise it's a gratuitous generalization to excuse your lack of imagination. The second point is simply entertainment value. Hovering doesn't have much. Thirdly, there are existing maneuvers you can't yet do with precision, that you could be perfecting.
