if you would read the comments above you. it says that is done with electromagnets!! electromagnets are basically wires wrapped around a metal bar or sumthing metal. when an electrical current is ran through the wires it creates a magnetic field. so to pick the boxes up it runs electricity through the wires which makes them magnetic and to release the boxes it just doesnt give electricity to the coils.
