  • i love this version. she's a good singer in the original version but at least this version i can sing without cracking.

  • This is very nice but i prefer this song in a high key. it sounds so much more angelic <3

  • thankyou for this video, its so much easier to sing now :) would you be able to do one with lyrics and perhaps a karaoke?

  • AND it's loads easier to sing. :)

  • is this e flat? i love e flat. <3

  • I think this one's better, but anyways, The original is better for Johanna. (-: woohoo (?) whatever.

  • Oh my goodness, I like it better like this, not that I didn't enjoy the original version, but this one sound much more sophisticated. I thought it would be worse in a lower key, but I guess I was wrong :P

  • That is freaking pretty! xD Her voice sounds so mature in this one! :) Are you planning on making an instrumental?? :D

  • Sounds beautiful!!! For me, I perfer the high version. You sound great just like thta!!

  • Wow, this is beautiful! She sounds much more like the singers in the musical-version: more mature... but I prefer the higher version for Johanna's character, though :)

Still, great job on this :)

  • It sounds so nice at a lower pitch

  • Does Miss Jayne Wisener sing any other Weber and/or Sondheim songs?

  • The low sounds too old. Its a shame they cut out most of Johanna's lines and singing.

  • So the girl who played Johanna didnt sing?:P *dumb blonde moment*

  • I find this a lot moreprittier, but then again, she is suppose to be 16 years old, and if a girl sang like this when she was 16, thad be just... not right XDD

but it IS very beautiful!!! I always tought it was way too high when ever I listen to the song ^^

  • I like this version, but the original version fits her.

    Great Job

  • i actually like this version better! hahaha

  • Beautiful. Although I prefer the movie version.

  • it sounds awesome. good job.

  • It is pretty cool. She sounds good both ways

  • i like the higher pitch more than the lower pitch, but both are just as beautiful. Very well done

  • sigh. oh she is so wonderful.

  • WOW MY EARS ARE NOT BLEEDING!!!! i love this its actualy really pretty this way.

    Xxx

  • The movie was in F major, this is lowered in E- flat major. In the 1979 production with George Hearn and Angela Lansbury, that Johanna sang it in G major, a whole step above the movie one.

  • @elphie1415 interesting :)

  • I have the original 1979 Sweeney Todd sheet music book, and this song is actually written a whole step lower than even THIS version. This is really the way it should be.

  • This is so much better than the original - the original in the film was beautiful, yes, but it was at points painfully high pitched >_o

well done here - fave =D

  • Sounds beautiful! =O

  • the higher one is better. but u lowered the pitch perfectly so it sounds beautiful i heard another ine and it sound it was really bad

  • That sounds nice. It sounds good both ways but it's interesting to hear it this way.

  • what do you mean, you mean you changed the key of it?

  • i think i like this better than the original

  • I prefer the original but this ones good too, it shows people that you can still sing it well even if you can't sing as high as she does in the film :)

  • wow now I wish I could do that with songs, so I could sing them... Mezzo soprano/alto lol! :]

  • Wow! She sounds much more mature! I must say I prefer the soprano but this is still amazing!

  • O= This is really wisener singing? Doesn't sound the same. Her actual voice is more...mature... As opposed to the screen's Soprano take shpuld they be one and the same.

  • The person who made the video just took the original audio and lowered the pitch.

  • Wow I like it.

  • It doesn't sound half bad:)

  • this makes her sound better tho she sounded good in the movie

  • i think this actually makes her voice sound prettier.. not to say she doesn't sound good in the original. she has an amazing voice but i find, when i sing certain songs, when the pitch is lowered it allows more of the voice to be shown off. and more emotion. :)

  • i love thissss.

  • I'd love an mp3 of this! it's so great to sing along to

  • this soooooo much better!!!!

  • I actually like it, but she sounds WAY more nasally in this version!!

Probably because of the pitch-changing thing lol

  • Yeah, She lives in Coleraine, I saw her there the other day in a Coffee Shop :L

  • That's so cool! *poor starstruck person who never sees celebrities out and about* lol

  • Thats CRAZY! Thats actually Jayne! Wow, thats cool! I wonder what High pitch sounds like!

  • There's still hope for me to be Johanna! Altos everywhere are bowing down in front of this video =]

  • you got that right!

  • I've seen an alto Johanna before :)

    She was great

  • Pretty damn good!! I was wondering if you could sing it differently with a lower pitch and it actually sounds really good

  • Well, when it comes to actually singing a song, any song can be sung anyway you want--you just need to go through the song and have the score arranged in your key.

Changing the pitch only effects how one praticular person sounds. Changing the key would make it possible to actually sing it the way you, or any other person, would.

  • I kinda like it lol

  • she has more depth and dimension in her voice here than in the movie to be honest

  • i like the way she says nightingale. (:

  • It sounds a bit like the older style of singing from older musicals.

  • The change made her sound older.

  • i thought she was australian?

  • Shes not :) She's From Northern Ireland. * Woot, Like Me* From Co. Antrim,She's From Coleraine

  • whoa!!!

The change in pitch makes her look like an adult! Or something frreeakkky! It sounds really good tho!

  • wow you got the pitch just right to make it sound real

you amazing ( btw i'm adressing SanariSebuna)

  • no i think she sounds too adult, she's meant to sound young and innocent thats what her character is all about.

  • kinda sounds she has somthing stuck in her throat but thats wut i think! good job anyway

  • She sounds more like an adult with the pitch change. More like what I imagined Lucy to sound like. She does magnificent for being Irish/Scottish/Something along that line.

She's going to be Alice?! Wow, I didn't know that.

  • she's supposed to be Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in WonderLand :) :) :) :) :) :)

    its soming out in 2010!!

    yayayayay

  • rosannagabrielle: I've heard Jayne's been one of the top picks for Alice, but I've also heard nothing's set in stone yet. I do hope she is chosen, though.

  • yeah me too

    she'd be perfect :)

    how did you know that?

  • About her being one of the top pics? Some interview I read online...can't remember which one, though.

  • yeah, i think it's been confirmed :DD

  • Actually, an Australian (sp?) actress by the name of Mia Wasikowska will be playing the role of Alice in 2010 :)

  • How exactly did you lower the pitch?

  • she is such a phenominal singer

  • like this version much better

  • I kinda like this version better, but in general I never really cared much for Joanna. Meh.

  • BETTER. I cannot even tell you how much better this is than the original. Ick.

  • WOW I CAN NOT SING THAT LOW! lol How did you do that?

  • The original is much better, in my opinion, much better. She and Anthony are SO perfect together. This is such a beautiful song though, and she's such a sad character.

  • I think she sounds good with both, but the original higher pitch it fits her more.

  • I liked much better the other version, it fits better with the frail, puny character

  • She sounds like someone else :( I liked the original.

  • her voice sounds good this way too!

  • Jesus! It sounds soooooo good like that, give her a couple years, she might sound like that :D

  • Much more realistic. Sweeney Todd is a very stylized picture and in some instances it was taken a tad far.

I also felt the pitch of this song was too high and needed to be opened up. This key signature was probably what it was originally sung in and then just digitally raised.

  • ew don't like it at all. it sounds like she's crying.

  • Well, she IS sad.

  • I like this version better from Jayne. But the best Johanna is my good friend Lauren Molina.

  • Love her. :D

  • wow, it almost sounds like it wasn't a pitch change. It sounded like a real person.

  • Lovely, but honestly I really prefer the version done in the movie because it truly captures her personality. She sounds so strong as a woman here. She is frail and this song doesn not show that well. And it sounds strangely pitchy. Also the transitions were far more noteable here. You can easily tell when the portions of the song split. Interesting idea.

  • i agree:):)

  • Eeek i hate this version

  • haha this sounds more like a normal range! XD not that I don't like the one in the movie!

  • i prefer the one in the movie/soundtrack... this one just doesnt sound right to me. it does sound beautiful, but it sounds off to me.

  • i prefer this one

  • She is a decent singer, though I wish she would do away with that awful vibrato the she uses at the end of every stanza.

  • Yeah. I like this much better.

  • I'm sorry, I prefer Lauren Molina's Johanna

  • This version actually sounds better.

  • Sounds better.... The original kinda made my eardrums burst!! lol

  • it does make her sound older...

  • ehh i like the original better.

  • lmfao

  • thats really cool shes sounds alot older...but i like her original voice obviously

  • sounds funny lol. :S i prefer her little cute voice! :D

  • Wow. I like this much better than her un-tampered with voice.

  • it doesnt seem right... she's supposed to be high and light, like a bird...

  • she sounds so much older like this :/

I think her voice is beautiful as it is.

  • Sounds much better. I wonder why they didn't do this on the soundtrack?

  • it doesnt sound right in the lower pitch

  • She kinda sounds like Julie Andrews (when she did My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music) in this key.

  • most of music in tkis film reminded me the sound of music... :D

  • Its so pretty both ways but how did you change the pitch?

  • a free downloadable program called audacity

  • Ill have to check that out :Dthanks!

  • i like the high pitched one i think its cute

  • OMG THIS SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER! In the movie ((well in the acutal song)) she is SO screechy. Good Job!

  • Is this the song from the movie deepened or from something else?

  • It's the song from the movie with a lower pitch. ^_^!

  • i kind of like it it's pretty

  • sounds like patti lupone kinda (mrs.lovett in the concert Sweeney Todd)

  • sorry to interject, but that sounds absolutely nothing like patti lupone.

  • haha, i agree

  • does changing the pitch also change the key she's singing in? or is it just a deeper voice?

  • it changes the key.

  • Makes her sound more mature! :P

  • maybe in this she's 10 years older when her voice matured too lol.
