isn't the original goal of judo to use balance and leverage instead of strength to throw your oponent? I have never practiced judo (exept for a workshop now and then) but thats what (respectable, knowledgable) people told me...
@Jarno1510 The actual principle you refer to is "seiryoku zen yo" commonly translated as "maximum efficiency, minimum efffort", with the idea being that the most efficeint motion is the one which requires the least amount of energy or strength to effect. One must always use some strength, as motion s impossible without it, but through learning to apply to the most effective technique at the most opportune moment, one can minimize the amount of strength required.
However, at times, the physical strength requirement to execute a technie can still be quite high, depending on the circumstance. Finally, this drill is as much about perfecting form as it is an aid to developing physical fitness. Just as a master gymnast makes a particular move look easy, this is achieved through the development of both physical ability and techincal form.
thanks :) altough sportfighting isn't my "thing" is completely understand. I aim more at technique without the need to condition the body. As i teach normal everyday non-athletic people self defence, not as a sport but as a tool.
@senseishin high strength in a technique is an indicator you are chasing the wrong technique. I know many people do power judo, but I think that mentality has limited returns. Power in martial arts at the highest levels feels effortless. You only need 30+ years of effort to get there. Thanks for the video, I will try this out.
@Jarno1510 what he is doing here is not really primariy for strength, although that is also a benifit, he is building muscle memory over thousands of repetitions so in a competition situation he does not even have to think and his body will move exactly into the position he has been practicing when doing this
in judo not only u can train nague waza and katame waza u can train atemi waza also. But we judokas focus on the competitive techniques instead of the self defense technique.
This is a fine way to to practice uchi komi when a partner isn't available. Another method is to take the closed end of the inner tube and insert it between a door and a jamb on the hinge side of the door. This method locks the inner tube in place and prevents accidental slipage and injury.
This is kind of stupid question but how long does it take the beginner to get to the black belt? I know that, you got to work hard and put all my affair into it but all my friends are curious!
@korea7891 I think to get to black belt in Judo it takes like at least 7-8 years. And thats only for like 1st Dan, which is 1st degree. It may even take longer, depending on how good you get, thats the only way you move up in ranks in Judo, is by how well you do, and your senseis notice yourprogress and hard work, and then they decide to move you up.
@korea7891 Pretty long time. It depends how hard and how tough you train. My sensei said it takes a few years. You have to flawlessly be able to do the 67 Judo throws and the pins, submissions. Learn them in Japanese. So if a sensei says "show me Osoto Gari", instantly you will do that throw. Also experience counts. A sensei will have the ultimate word if you get it or not.
judo is cool but if you stop training u loose it. so keep training even at home doing the uchikomis. what he is showing is effective. he is breathing heavy at 1:50 so this works. keep playing.
@koolguy412 You don't lose all of it. You'll retain the falling knowledge, and the basics. You just wont be competition quality. It still works for self defense even years later. I know for a fact.
im a judoka man and in the street if ur goin one on one u cn use it very practically and lethally..its not just throws u can choke and yeah even in throws u can knock them out(which i did before)..but in a situation that ur outnumbered im sorry i havent encountered that yet.
its so effective the british police train in judo and of course so do the police forces in japan, this may be a bit a of a side path but look up judo in mma.
Espically karo paarysian and the effectiveness of no gi.
hahaha, I am having a better relationship with my coach nowadays. I think he's slowly started to realizes judo or not, I'll could easily knock him the F*ck OUT. LOL
Yes, tie the tubes or rope around a tree, fencepost or pole stuck in the ground and do the entries the same way as if you're practicing with a person. Just don't hit the post full-power with your leg.
just do osoto uchikomi facing away from the wall, using your powerhand hold the tube, so the band stretches behind you, as if you were pushing your fist into an imaginary uke's jaw
My name is Kiki, and i was raped before i died. I use to enjoy pain and now i inflict it upon people. I was tortured and raped untill i could no longer breathe. Those meanies now suffer and die, and those who do not repost this to 5 videos will die too. i hate this 2 but i believe

Correct me if im wrong but isn't a Harai Goshi the throw where you first, get your grip, second, step in, and third, sweep their leg/legs from behind?
Because thats what my senseis taught us for Harai Goshi. ;o

You can buy a surgical tube called Thera band (the black one) and braid 3 into one. This will give you a lot more room, and a longer pull.
