  • As a beginning graphics designer would you recommend this??

  • @sTMW2 You probably have made your decision by know, but you should go with the Wacom Bamboo with a pen. After all, we grew up using pens, to write, and pencils to draw. This Bamboo uses fingers. Think of this as finger painting, while the Bamboo with a pen-stylus as real drawing.

  • @Livatube Its a Graphic Tablet .. u narb >_<

  • @Livatube Try any wacom product and you'll disagree. Even though the two are completely different, Wacom wins.

  • thank u so much! without knowing u answered all my questions with this video! thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Why this idiot is despising the Tablet???

  • @Livatube

XD Jajajajaja..... First, this is not a Computer, this is a Graphic Tablet, and Second... With a Computer this is better than your fucking IPAD, Preassure Sensitive... Thats all...

  • Bought mine on 6/10/11 at Staple of $29.99. they don't have it in stock so will have to try it when it get in next week. Thank you for review.

  • @Livatube You are an idiot. How can you compare this to an ipad?

  • @Livatube with all respect i have to respectably say IPAD SUCK HUGE DONKY DICK!!!!, but remember i say this respectably not as an insult so ipad or you.

  • I was wondering if you buy the pen on the wacom website that is used for the pen and touch can you use it on this tablet? I was wondering because it would be cheaper to but them seperately then buy the pen and touch tablet together.

  • DUDE I GOT THE SAME ONE JUST TODAY!!!!! :D I got mine for $50.99 At Best Buy it was $40.99 but the dumbass Taxes and crap like that. But anyway yeah! :D

  • the small one can work with pen? or just touch i have seen them but it just come the tablet. but i can get pen individual and it works???please help!

  • it's pronouced W@C0/v\ lol

  • there only 50

  • Macbooks already come with a trackpad. Does this thing even have more than two finger multi-touch?

  • dos the monitopr or whatever show up on the tablet or no?

  • I have intous4 large, thinking about this for travel! Dunno??

  • so is this like a mouse ?

  • in the background i can see another wacom pen!!!!!! Look at 1:35

  • whats better for drawing in Photoshop? Bamboo Pen and Touch or Bamboo Fun

  • Does it take the pen? Or did you try it with the pen?

  • @LTWproductions1 There are a couple touch models with the pen. I upgraded to an Intuos4, which is a pen-only system. The software kills the Bamboo Touch.

  • i think they should have a stand for it =x....

  • @MastaTGT I think they should make it wireless! I did get a stand for my Wacom Intuos4 Wireless - one of those metal document holders from Staples. Works great & looks real nice.

  • yeah...nevermind...I see you have a pen and no doubt tested it.

I'll see how I can utilize this thing with my 26" desktop setup (I'm thinking maybe in e left hand config also using a right hand mouse), but it blows with laptops.

  • can we get a clear answer for this?

IF YOU BUY A WACOM PEN SEPARATELY...will it work with this pad?

  • @aallppiinnee If only I had posted the answer half a dozen times before, why didn't I think of that!

  • i have wacom intuos3 A4 special edition

and i'm really happy with it ^^

  • @monimoni0147 Yeah, I just got rid of my Intuos3 and went with the Intuos4 Wireless. I downgraded from the large to the medium since that's all they had in wireless. Both are great, but I do prefer working on a slightly smaller surface (less hand movement). Intuos tablets are rad.

  • you are very UNKIND when you treat wacom intuos like this.

  • @iamductri Silicon has feelings, too.

  • large touchpad... bamboo pen is better.

  • @CeDriC200sx Yeah. What a waste. It's a good thing I don't have an Intuos pen tablet already, er, wait....

  • oh yeah awesome vid, haaha are we as a society so stupid that we need a video of a dude opening a box?? and yeah its wacom not waycom

  • @jamilahyasna I dunno, are we? You watched and commented, so you'll have to answer that one, caveman :D And in Philly its waaaaaycom brotha!

  • its not a labtop its a laptop

  • @omegared707 It's laptop not labtop. Stop typing funny.

  • A pen is optional. $30 more, though.

  • @jedikid98 Yeah, if I didn't already have a tablet, I'd totally have gone with the pen version. Pressure-sensitive pens are the bomb.

  • This thing really sucks man i have one but i tought it came with a pen but now

just a touch screen and its better using da path of da computer

  • if it doesnt include a pen its just like a laptop mouse basically -.- im not buying it if theres no pen :[]

  • they have a different model that uses a pen, and one that does pen and touch

  • @aimster4560 Thanks for sharing. Here's your cookie. I licked it.

  • Does it have a pen?

    Great video by the way

  • @Sauronshit no but u can use it for "fingerpainting"

  • like the way u throw stuff around!

if u throw it u gotta pick it up! just to know :)

  • @PetrosLAN You should see my Macbook Pro video! I tossed that puppy around like a sack of potatoes!

  • can you a regular pen on bamboo touch?

  • If you want to draw on it, sure, but it uses capacity technology, so it senses heat, not pressure... This makes it more accurate and allows multiple inputs (like the iPhone).

  • @indyraider4 I wish it worked with pressure like a mood ring. A mood pad. Oh wait, there's an app for that...

  • eh dare I say it cool idea, but small and lol I have a mouse ;p

  • @CTSSTC Yeah. A mouse is more accurate, plus you can't program the touch functionality for your apps, which is kind of pointless.

  • @leopardsoup by apps do you mean like... you're a programmer and you can't get anything special for it, or you mean like, you wish you could do pinch zooming in firefox with it & navigation or what?

Or do you wish it had some kinda manager program that let you have different profiles for different programs depending on what window/program you were in?

  • @CTSSTC Yup. You can't do any profiles. It didn't work in more than half my programs. Super lame, especially since Wacom is known for customization.

  • hey does it come with a mouse

  • no it's only comes with the tablet

  • does it comewith a mouse

  • @Nomisko123 Nope, no pen either. There is a version with a pen tho.

  • can you use a pen for this?

  • @DPpokal Nope, you gotta buy a separate model that does touch + pen.

  • lucky you

  • Eh, I returned it - you can't program it per-app, so it's kinda useless. Cool, but limited in functionality because of that. And only 2 fingers...it can't recognize more than that like the Macbook Pro touchpad.

  • Yes hes damn lucky.Ill get a tablet for christmas.

  • @mi6o8 Get one yet? I use mine every day. Couldn't live without it :)

  • I got mine already xD its awsome

  • $58 no tax on Amazon.. only shop there

  • Nice! Yeah, the price has dropped a bit since it came out.

  • man you're agressive haha

  • @yngmab Low tolerance for annoying packaging. Amazon's eco-friendly packaging is the Best Thing Ever - rip open the package and ta-da! Your product! Check Youtube for "larry david gps" if you want to see some REAL package-opening aggression :D

  • How do you make it quit lagging?

  • @ZOOYORKFLATS Upgrade your computer? :D I didn't have any lag issues with mine. I returned mine because I couldn't program it on a per-appliction basis - I use Painter a lot and it was useless for that. Super-cool for Adobe apps tho...

  • anybody notice the mac os on that dell...lol.

  • fuck</°§§!!! i buy the bamboo 1 mounth ago.....and now there is the new bamboo touch...dawn me!!!!

  • ...this came out a month ago ;)

  • same lol

  • I like the bamboo fun way better! At $200 it has bigger surface area, uses both the pen and touch, and is overall a better buy. This one seems useless.

  • This is really nice for laptops, very portable. I also think the finger pad is just right for doing gestures, but yeah, if you want to draw, the bigger pad is really a lot better.

  • can u buy a pen if ya wanted 2 tho?

  • I dunno. I know they sell the pen separately. I tried my Intuos pen and it didn't work, but it may use a different chip than the Bamboo models. Would be interesting to find out.

  • Just to clarify, there are 9 key gestures that you can make with Bamboo Touch.

  • Yeah, but only with 2 fingers: (1) Move (navigate), (2) Click, (3) Double-Click, (4) Right-Click, (5) Forward & Back, (6) Scroll, (7) Select & Drag, (8) Rotate, (9) Zoom. It sounds like a lot, but it's more like a normal mouse.

I returned mine because I can't program it for any of my apps. It only seems to work properly with a Browser, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Only the Zoom works in Painter, and I can't program it for anything else.

Does Wacom have any plans to make it programmable?

  • Great discussion. Right now, only Intuos and Cintiq allow you to customize ExpressKeys by application. Our research has shown that more-advanced computer users, like professionals in digital content production are more apt to program the keys this way, compared to the mass market. We'll continue to support this in our pro product line.

  • Are there any plans to release an Intuos-equivalent of the Bamboo Touch? I would definitely pay for a programmable gesture pad!

I got the Bamboo Touch setup with custom gestures using xGestures in OS X; it's possible to do with StrokeIt in Windows as well. But I'd really like to see that feature integrated! It's entirely possible on the Wacom side, but I'd understand if it were a pro-line feature (as long as there's a pro-line model coming out down the road!).

  • i dont like it how wacom only focus on the pro users just cause they spend more money =(

  • The ability to use touch in applications comes less from Wacom and more from software manufacturers that integrate touch code and functionality. Wacom is working w leading companies, including MS, Apple, Adobe and Corel, to ensure that Multi-Touch is versioned into future iterations of the software.

  • But why not just enable programmability from the get-go? The Intuos line has programmability, what's stopping you from adding it to the Bamboo line? Relying on manufacturers for integration seems kind of silly because (1) everyone is going to want different shortcuts, and (2) not everyone is going to buy the latest software just to get support for built-in gestures. At the very least, I would like to see an Intuos model, especially one that supports more fingers as well as programmability.

  • so im looking at buying one of these but whats with the whole "bamboo and bamboo fun" thing? 100 hundred dollar diffrence

  • The higher-end Bamboos add a pen to draw with, as well as touch capabilities with the finger gestures. So you can either get a plain old drawing tablet, a plain old finger gesture pad, or a combination of both - pen & fingers.

  • HINT: Next time can you plug it in and use it? This was very boring.

  • HINT: This is an UNBOXING video, as stated in the title. See the "Quick Review" video response if you want to see it in action ;)

  • I want this now

  • Guessing that a standard Wacom with pen, is more proficient for design work still

  • Definitely. This is a totally different device - it's a shortcut tool, not a drawing tool.

  • So Wacom goes mainstream, this device is just a touch pad, really cool but nothing to do with tablets.

  • Yup, it's a totally different product than their Tablets. It's for gestures, not for drawing at all. It'd be the equivalent of fingerpainting, haha.

Although, I believe they are coming out with a Pen + Touch tablet, according to their manual.

  • if only it was bluetooth

  • Yeah but then you'd have to charge it or use batteries, which is lame. Maybe if it had a charging dock...

  • Honestly, in my opinion, I think it's kinda stupid.

I'd much rather be drawing with a pen on a much larger tablet.

I had an old Wacom that was tiny and hated it..

  • The Touch model is not designed for drawing. It's for gesture-based shortcuts.

  • i dont think that that will be useful for photoshop. im just fine with my bamboo, but this. Nope not for professional use as far as i see, just fun my 2 cents.

  • It really depends on how much of a Power User you are. If you're a whiz with the keyboard/mouse combo shortcuts, you may be more comfortable with that workflow. So far I've found this extremely useful for navigation in Photoshop & Illustrator, although I can't program it at all, so all I can do in Painter is zoom in & zoom out, no "move" funtionality at all, which is lame. Wacom needs to release a software update! :p

  • i think just for zoom in& out the price doesnt worth it... Im not thaaaat PS & AI Pro but i can handle with it, but i dont think that i can use that for any project as i can imagine ;)

  • Well in Photoshop it does:

+ Zoom In & Zoom Out (2 fingers - pinch)

+ Move like the Hand Tool (2 fingers - any direction)

    + Rotate Canvas (2 fingers - twist)

If you use Photoshop a lot, then it's pretty convenient. But then again, you can just hold the Spacebar + Left-mouse for the Hand Tool & do all those other nifty keyboard/mouse shortcuts. Really depends on your workflow, and whether or not you've got $69.99 burning a hole in your pocket ;)

  • nice one man! :) I like this one, also I was thinking, when we will have a big ones like a cintiq21ux .... it will be awesome I think, isnt? :P hope some day see that in real :)

Will buy this one at best buy soon ;)

  • I'm not sure if a bigger model would be better, honestly. The smaller size is perfect for finger-based gestures. I guess if you had Pen support, then the bigger size would be better, but this way there's a perfect spot for your hand.

Also, I definitely would NOT want a Cintiq with finger support - imagine how dirty your screen would get! Eww...my iPhone already gets smudged enough from my fingers! :)

  • I just got mine at Best Buy! Pretty sweet, it's basically a big Macbook trackpad. It's also nice and thin, and the wire is pretty long. Just to point out, the user manual shows versions with both touch and pen. This is just the basic model. They are upgrading all the bamboo models.

  • Ahh, that's cool. I wonder if having the pen will allow application-specific gestures. I really like the functionality in Photoshop & Illustrator, but it only partially works in Corel Painter and I can't modify the settings to respond with the proper key presses :(

  • I'm liking the Touch, seems like it was worth it. I really want to get an intuos4 soon, I need something for drawing :P.

Of course... the Touch and the intuos are meant for totally different purposes, so I'd use both.

  • Yeah, I'm using both my Intuos3 and the Bamboo Touch together. Pretty nice combo! Drooling over an Intuos4 tho, 2048 levels of pressure makes me shiver haha...

  • Ya, the pressure is great, and I love the new look with the customizable OLED icons for the buttons.

  • It looks like you have initiated a total recall online with your videos. All links on the web to this product on any site result in a dead end or error when followed.

Thanks for the unboxing and your other usage video, it got my interest peaked!

  • Hey, you can thank Best Buy for that ;) I've heard that Staples has the displays out already too...

Wacom is still mum on a press release :p

  • can this replace youre mouse or do you still need a mouse?

  • Yes, it can fully replace your mouse. Although, I'm more accurate & faster with my mouse. Just think of it as a giant laptop touchpad - if you're comfortable using that instead of a mouse, then sure, you can replace it. I'll be using both! :)

  • Too much explanation, like a video for the blind.

  • Yeah, I should have merged this video with the "in action" video response, maybe 2 minutes for unboxing and 4 minutes for show-off. Oh well, didn't even plan on doing a video in the first place, so you don't get your money back! :D

  • That's really cool! Will call my local bestbuy store and see if they have in-stock.

Did you test the multi-touch with Win7? Did it work well?

  • Don't have Win7 handy here, but I did try it on my XP SP3 machine. Everything works - 2-finger scroll, tap-to-click, 2-finger tap for right-click. Didn't even have to restart!

  • Great, thanks!

btw, on your other video seems that the touch pad is a bit sluggish (specially when you used two fingers to do the pinch, etc). Did you get used to it after the initial learning?

  • Yeah, I was holding the camera and trying to get the shot while manipulating the pad - my thumbnail kept touching instead of my skin. If you play with it for about 10 minutes, it becomes completely second-nature. You just have to learn how to gesture smoothly, it's just a tiny bit different than a laptop touchpad.

  • when is it suppose to come out?

  • No idea, it's not online at Best Buy's website yet, and all Engadget has is leaks. No official release from Wacom yet. But more than one Best Buy B&M store has them in-stock and ready to buy...

  • too much packaging..

  • It's a pretty small box, actually. But yeah, they could have *really* shrunk it down if they wanted to...the Tablet itself is thinner than my iPhone, and all it came with was a CD & skinny quick-start manual. But the other Wacom Tablet boxes dwarfed it in the store, so I guess they had to make it visible, even if it is a lot smaller than those are ;)

  • can i ask whats the link to the online site of best buy of where i can see that. cuz i went to best buy, and went to wacom, bamboo touchpads, and it did not show this 1.

  • It's not online yet. Call up your local brick & mortar store. They had them in-stock and out on the floor at mine. No one knew what they were though, haha...

  • The packaging reminded me of Apple's packaging, especially the CD+Manual "box" thing.

  • Yeah, it's very minimal. Now I understand why the put that second thin cardboard layer (the black one under the soft wrapping) on the tablet - the mylar scratches really easily! My fingernail left a few white marks on it already :p

  • does it do drawings like a regular bamboo with your finger?

  • Yeah, sure. It's basically exactly like a Trackpad on a laptop. It's more like fingerpainting though...I mean, you're using your finger as an input device, instead of a Wacom pen or mouse. This model does not come with a Pen, and it doesn't support my Intuos3, so we'll have to see what Wacom says when the official annoucement comes out as far as Pen support goes. The video tutorial on the CD did say that some models support both Pen & Finger input though...

  • This is MUCH better than the shite video you tweeted earlier. I'm glad you did your own. =)

  • It's pretty cool so far...2 complaints tho: (1) only 2 fingers max, and (2) software doesn't let you customize functions per-app. Maybe they'll sell a premium Intuos model with more functionality (and size) - the Video Tutorial on the CD said "some" models do both Pen & Fingers (not at the same time though, software auto-switch on detection), but my Intuos3 pen doesn't work at all.

  • Pretty cool though, especially for $70. Makes my desktop feel like a Mac laptop - 2-finger scroll, right/left flick for forward/backwards in Safari, pinch & twist for Preview, etc. I like it so far!

  • I made the earlier shite video, thanks. lol

  • Hey, I liked it! ;) Your video is the reason I bought mine, haha - I called Best Buy and they had it in stock! The reps were like what the heck is this thing, lol. No one knew what it was or who had put it out. Pretty nifty little device though...
