  • Beautiful cover. Really gives a new meaning to the song.

  • SHES STILL ALIVE......must be GLaDOS

  • @hiimaperson12 Thousands of fans mostly.

  • i love how diverse JoCo's music is

  • Is anyone else crying right now...?

  • strange hearing it done by a guy :) still a realy nice version though. Coulton is brilliant.

  • There are plenty of songs written from a woman's perspective but performed by a male singer. It's a lot like reading a letter that someone else wrote. You have to take into account the original context of the letter... rather than trying to apply it to whoever it is that just so happens to pick it up and read it.

  • is it just me or is it kinda wierd that he left the song from the perspective of the woman? it's still a woman singing to a man. when a guy sings it, it sounds like a guy to sing to his gay lover who left him for a woman lol. or maybe that was the joke lulz

  • @RectalDiscourse I thought that was the entire point of this song. Am I wrong?

  • @theazreal I also thought the same! But then, I learned that this was just a cover by Coulton. This was originally sung by Alanis Morissette. :))

Still, I love the idea of a man singing it to his lover. Fits perfectly. :))

  • He's not gay is he ????

  • I like the original a lot better...

  • you know a man has talent when he can make an angry song sound soothing.

  • Jonathan Coulton is a girl!? :O

    j/k

  • wheres this from? i checked his website and its not there, and its not either on any of his albums...?

  • @ChickenPludder Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's on any of his albums, being that it's a cover of an Alanis Morissette song. Not saying that you can't put a cover in an album, I just don't think he did.

  • i think that perhaps you could que up the trasitions a little better, because the lyrics versions are usualy done for kareoke or sing along. but yeah, i like the font choice.

  • I heard Alanis wrote this for Uncle Joey from Full House

  • I think it's cool that the gender isn't changed in these lyrics. This way, it's about a gay guy.

  • @Ctheawesome Yeah. It shows respect for the original lyrics too - a lot of women keep the men's lyrics, but it's unusual to see that flipped.

  • wait jonathan can have a baby?

  • @BLHLF yes he has a son that is what "you ruined everything" is about.

  • Where can I get this recording? I want it for my Excellent Covers collection. Facebook message me at Rhiannon Griffith and tell me.

  • somone plz explain to me what this is exatcly about....im thinking of a lesbian for some reson lol

  • Coulton is the perfect person to cover Alanis, because, despite his self-mocking style which would ordinarily deflate lyrics like these, he is, like Alanis, deeply whiny, although as he gains in popularity he's becoming surly.

  • So funny story, I had no idea this was an Alanis Morrisette song, because I make a point of not hearing music I fucking hate. And it made sense to, because I song about how his girl left him for another woman is right up Jonathan's alley. I think in this rare instance, ignorance was actually bliss.

  • maybe it's my computer, but they seem suddenly less fuzzy than yesterday. the words, i mean.

  • Wait wait wait, is this about Jonathan's girlfriend leaving him for another girl? His use of gender pronouns is confusing.

  • @Dracowrath1 It's not that confusing. He's singing in the character of a gay man who got left for a woman. It makes the story even more tragic and poignant, in my opinion.

  • @Dracowrath1 it's a cover of a song by Alanis Morrisette, that's why the gender pronouns are confusing. xD

  • I love this song reguardless of the other one the non cover is great to but the fact JoCo can pull this off so well proves something :P xxx

  • Can someone say me the Tabs or Chords? :D

  • good cover, but this version doesnt have the spite of the original. It sounds rather sad and defeated... Im not sure if I like that

  • didnt somebodymake a remake of this song

  • @RectalDiscourse I'm pretty sure that the whole *point* is that it's now from a gay man's perspective. Not all music has to be about perfect fluffy heterosexual love.

  • Jonathan is best ^^

  • yeah but she was supposed to be this angry bitch at singing, to give guy singers a shock, at least thats what i heard....hmm...i do like this version better though! less rough

  • @RectalDiscourse curse those women who dont worship all men! Lesbians, the lot of them!

  • @Wolfiejules ouch that was good i felt that over here

  • I never knew he did this. O_O

    .....that's awesome. xD

  • i like this version better than the morsette version, i like the tone and rhythm better

  • @tazemebro69 Alanis Morisette sang this with the slicing-tires rage of the scorned.

Jonathan Coulton sings it with the essence of kicked puppy.

  • Even though the lyrics are very spiteful, Jonathan's vocal style makes it sound happy!

  • lol alannis morisette cover?

  • yes. her's was much stronger, much angrier (i prefer that one) :p

  • Haunting!

  • I would, but my WMM died and won't let me make anymore movies. I've been looking for a new movie making software that's free, but my search hasn't been good. Also, he doesn't sing it like that, unfortunately.

  • @ArmchairPuppet pinnacle video spin could be a good resource

  • does it really matter.

  • Im pretty sure he's not your average black man, but thats how he sings 'Baby Got Back'

  • @ScottieWallace Why? JoCo sings it the way the original was sung, if you listen.

  • @Nyrmahl exactly, instead of from a mans prospective, unless its a gay mans perspective.

  • @ScottieWallace But. That's what he's singing.

  • Still waiting mate for new JoCo uploads!

    /tapfoot

Personally i am blaming your unhealthy videogame addiction for your lack of uploads:)

get a haircut and a job you lazy bugger or atleast post some more NEW JoCo. (damn! sarcasm is hard to do in writing, without sounding insulting)

  • Ahahaha! Apparently, my windows movie maker is made of phail, so I have to find another program to make a video with. Any suggestions? Oh, and it's gotta be free ;)

  • Thanks alot for the upload! Great job:)

    Keep posting JoCo stuff please!

  • I have a few more covers that he did to upload. Just gotta do the lyrics thing and figure out how to make them not so blurry. Thanks for watching!

  • You got more JOCo which is not yet on the tube?!

I´ll be stopping by here again with my hopes up. Thanks again for the upload:)

  • I'm an online DJ for a game I play online, and I have over 40 JoCo songs in my collection. My custom title in the game is "The number one JoCo fangirl!" lol. But yes, I will definitely upload more... as soon as I get a chance!

  • & makes me actually like the song!

  • So Much Better! =D
