  • What a great view!

  • Power goes out at 4:03

  • The reason that transformers were exploding were probably because of huge gust fronts that knocked trees over or they just shorted out.

  • ok that was crazy but i have to say wow there was alot of power flashes in that omg

  • arn't those flash's called a power flash?

  • Thats fucked they have sirens to warn them

  • Comment removed

  • Damn Nature, You scary!!

  • why is it that when a tornado happens, the sky is like a greenish color?

  • nice zoom holmes

  • I used to live in The Colony, TX from 1980-1982 and I experienced some wild weather out there then, but no tornadoes thankfully.

  • I dont have the guts to do that

  • so glad i live in California! all we have are earthquakes, mud slides and weirdos..

  • War Of The Worlds 2?!

  • I have always been a big fan of thunderstorm videos and Toronto videos but I always hear the phrase transformers popping! and you see them popping with a big flask of light. I live in New Brunswick Canada and I have no idea what a transformer is lol

Could someone please tell me what they are or what they do????

    Thanks

  • @steblair transformers are cylindrical things on electric poles that transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors. when a storm with high winds comes it can pull a transformer off the pole and the electricity explodes out like you see in the video! im not an electrician here but i hope that helps you!

  • Damn... I hate tornadoes

  • whoa thts creepy how the tornado siren talks

  • at 0:40 the cloud looks like a squirrel

  • @Otakonkid Dick head you read that off my top rated comment, stop stealing other peoples comments.

  • @Otakonkid there is! LOL

  • glad to know I was in Europe when this happened... I live in Plano myself.

  • i live in mckinney i remember this we were talking about this at school the next day. there werent anything as big though

  • thats a very flat area, no surprise seing a tornadoe there o.o

  • @MrNaturerune hence why the city is named "Plano" hahaha :)

  • @GraceeRedmond2010 maybe there like me and cant die no matter what.

  • That evening did the tornado sirens go off any time after that one?

  • OMG I remember this... It was sooooo scary!!!!

  • 2:19, anyone notice the transformers exploding? yeahh usually TORNADOES do that shit you idiots

  • @ProXECHOx wasn't a tornado in this video. Straight line winds from a bow echo or microburst can do the same thing.

  • i can see some power flashes at 1:44 which means there is down burst winds or a tornado in there.

  • @Beardsley1000 and at 2:54

  • jun 10th is my bday!

  • Power flickering at 4:03

  • This is a perfect example of a tornado which is occurring, even though it doesn't appear that a funnel is touching the ground. If you look up in the sky you can see the lowering cloud (the wall cloud) and the fact that one sees transformers exploding, plus debris swirling around would indicate the presence of a tornado.

  • @CH3CH2OCH2CH3net There isnt any tornado in this video. What I'm seeing is possibly a microburst that occured.

  • @twjr80 I do see a swirl down at ground level and what appears to be a funnel sticking down from the bottom of the cloud. I would call in a tornado based on the fact that I'm seeing what appears to be swirling motion on the ground AND power flashes.

It would help if we could see Doppler images of storm-relative motion in the low and mid level of the thunderstorm to see if a circulation had formed.

  • @CH3CH2OCH2CH3net There is no swirling down at the ground. Also, if you go back on that day for the SPC storm reports, there were not reports of a funnel cloud or tornado in Plano on that day. The only report from Collin County was for a 78MPH gust of wind @ 0019 time lon. & lat of 33.05, 96.77

  • @CH3CH2OCH2CH3net BTW, you can view past radar data at vortex.plymouth.e d u/nids.html

  • I dont get how people take the time to dislike the video. what did they not like about it. it is a storm. are they disappointed that the indivduals in the video didnt get sucked up in a tornado?

  • @cstoner15 In all likelihood, people were expecting to see a rotating funnel or a big wedge, because popular culture equates "tornado" with "big, monster storm with a half-dozen vortices". I can see the lowering wall cloud, the funnel and the presence of swirling debris and exploding transformers would strongly suggest the presence of a tornado actually making contact with the ground - even if it can't be seen.

  • i live in hale center,tx and its way worse down here. it will be like 2:00 pm and the clouds are pitch black. so black that it looks like its night time.

  • this is the craziest tornado video I have seen in a while!

  • @TheCutiepiesweetie no tornado in this video.

  • Ohhh the sights and sounds of severe thunderstorms.. I cant wait till summer here in WI. We are suppost to get 15-30 Inches of snow between tomorrow and wednesday.

  • I want to visit texas someday, whats it like?! besides this.. lol

  • @SpeakerFreak95 Hell. This shit happens every single day basically down there, plus 100 degree heat.

  • @AirRaider56 well lol thats not any good.... lol

  • Tonado warning

" Hey lest get to the higest point in the bilding" haha LOL

  • @charlieslilyflower hahaha, don't understand why you a storm chaser :P

Im glad that I live in Holland, we never have storms like that :)

  • the warningsound is scary..

  • 0:24 there was a transformer blowing and 4:19 there was rotation by debris. Crazy Outfit! lol

  • @megs905 that wasnt rotation by debris. Just leaves being kicked up probably by the inflow winds.

  • That is some post-apocalyptic shit.

  • badd ass!

  • and a general rule of thumb I have learned from severe weather coverage in my area is, if you see a funnel cloud, but don't hardly see a fully developed cloud all the way to the ground and you see transformers blowing under it, then you most likely do have a circulation at the ground, even if there is no visible cloud at ground level.

  • @autigerssuck...you are right. But most of the time the reason why transformers blow when there is not a funnel or actual tornado is because they are being hit by cold air blasting downward and out by the storm. These winds are called downdrafts. (I like how you can see airplanes on approach to DFW.)

  • wow, it looks like there are multiple wall clouds in this storm, though some of them could have just been scud, but man, this is an impressie video.

  • ok im moving to plano in like a week does this usually happen? cuz ive never seen a tornado before

  • Wow!!! Totaly insane!!! I would love to hear this sounds of sirens of tornadoes warning here in São Paulo. Actualy a tornado hit my house in 1989 but there was no sirens alerts at that time!!!

  • ok if you see debree then u no automatically to get the hellooperator inside

  • Same in carrollton that day!!

  • My friend lives in those apts., he parks in that very parking garage. Eastside village.

  • My friend lives in those apts., he parks in that very parking garage.

  • Check out my page for a tornado-like football game! Accepting challenges! (I remember this storm)

  • Whoa! What a video!!!

  • There is one guy in the video that sounds like Justin Long LOL

  • And I just noticed at 0:37 there's a shape of a squirrel in the clouds.

  • @KidsWithGuns1992 HOLY SHIT I SAW THE SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!

  • @KidsWithGuns1992 There's squirrels everywhere in plano, even in the damn clouds.

  • lol

  • Love the sirens, very creepy.

  • im from plano and i haven't been back since i was 16

  • looks like the power flashes were caused by strait line winds ...

  • I used to live there, in Plano

  • Very nice storm, and good video, congratulation !

  • fuck you you suck wheres the tornado

  • i live in cali were the hills are thats good there is no tronados ugh but earthquakes are scary too X/

  • Appears to have been a rain-wrapped tornado, you could see the transformers,

    but no tornado.

  • that damn storm took out my power till 730 in the morning when i had to go to school at hendrick.........................satan must have protected that demonic school...DAMN YOU HEATHEN

  • I know storms can cause a lot of damage and sadly deaths... But you can't help to be amazed when a HUGE storm is building up right by you.

    Nice video guys.

  • OMG!!!!!! I remember Pete Delcus showing the dust cloud. We had just finished clearing the backyard, and like 3 seconds later, this fast wind started coming at our house!!!! we couldn't open the door!!!!!

  • european sirens

  • man thats like every day in Iowa it seams.... THANK GOD I LOVE TORNADOES!!! =)

  • u dumb asses one was forming right on your heads ha but good video 5/5

  • Focus..... but still good vid

  • ive lived in plano my whole life there has never been a tornado were i lived

  • 3:52 great catch.

  • Like the plane at 0:52 - talk about having a deathwish!

  • the sky was green :O

  • false video advertisement

-Im sure the storm produced tornados eventually

but you didnt show any in the actual video...

a potential waste of 5 minutes and 46 secs of my life.

Here's something random, #LOL! Title it right!

  • tHA TIS WHERE THEY PACKAGE DR. PEPPER ISNT IT?

  • @firefighterfuture1 There is a Dr.Pepper bottling plant in Plano. PepsiCo as well as Lay's potato chips are also manufactured here. I've lived in Plano for the passed 20 years, went to school here etc.. its a hell of a town.. we're famous for potato chips and bad weather..lol

  • @GREENxJOINT thats an interesting question now i'm wondering

  • tornadoes barely ever strike in plano but i hope they dont any time soon

  • do you go to praire creek

  • i remember this tornado. i was on renner road plano. i live in richardson.

  • @diediemful Hahaha i live in the Prairie Creek area and it took of our balconey screen door, and it took out some windows from flying debris

  • i was there in that storm i live in richardson if you see the water tower with an r thats richardson i drove through that with my dad. this was the scariest moment in my life ever!

  • sirens send chills down my spine to begin with but hearing these makes me wanna shit my pants

  • that was stupid of yall

  • A "funnel cloud" is a rotating column of air that has not yet reached the ground. A full-fledged tornado creates debris on the ground as one other comment said. However, neither are to be taken lightly. Any type of rotation in the clouds is a sign to be aware of tornadoes.. They warn you of this on television as one of two things.. DOPPLER indicated tornadoes, which are funnel clouds and rotation..OR TORNADOES ARE ON THE GROUND. meaning take cover!

  • that night frisco had a f5 lol

  • @sonicboom577 Frisco did not have any tornadoes.

  • Haha id be crying :P

  • are u guys on top of a building? :) haha nice

  • no lightning bolts - but the transformers were awesome

  • holy shit. u wer inside the tornado

  • @nutty1999 no tornado in this video

  • @twjr80 it could just be a down draft or storm surge. But i heard the news say that the tornado was so big that u couldn't even see it

  • @nutty1999 No tornado was reported in Collin County.

  • My grandma was inside the storm

  • Comment removed

  • I remember that evening... damn power was out ALL night...

As usual, there was a downed tree up the street and some headass ran into the massive pile of branches and debris with his car, and then backed up & sped away as if nothing happened.

  • At 00:47 you can see a little flash in the sky! i think its an airplane haha

  • @thegreekartemis14 :O haha yeah you can hear them say "look at that plane up there"

  • ware did you take this vidio i live in plano

  • that tornado is on the ground even though you cant see a visible condensation funnel. was watching news coverage in our area a few weeks back and they showed a tornado on the ground in progress, and showed that it didnt have a visible condensation funnel, but it was still on the ground and the power flashes were the tell tale signs

  • @autigerssuck no tornado in this video nor on that night

  • at 1:54 was that a tornado doin those sparks or lights

  • @moabmutt no tornado in this video

  • @twjr80 Yes there was a tornado but it didnt touch down, it was hanging out of the sky

  • @coIIln no there wasn't. I was watching both NWS BR and SRV radars. No tornadoes. Also, it isn't a tornado unless there is debris at the ground. If it was "hanging out of the sky" then it was either a wall cloud or funnel cloud. Now that night, there was a very nice wall cloud.

  • @twjr80 Hahaha um no... there was a tornado, i was looking at it outside of my window

  • @coIIln nope, no tornadoes during this event in Plano. The closest was a very small and weak EF-0 tornado that didn't last very long over near Lewisville. Even a seasoned storm chaser, Sam Barricklow stated that there was a derecho in Richardson/Plano. A derecho is a sign that there is very strong straightline winds. Go Google TornadoHistoryProject and Sam Barricklow. Collin, don't argue when you have no proof or facts. ;-)

  • @twjr80 Ok no proof... i can just see a tornado hanging out of the sky near my house...

  • @coIIln ok, once again, it is not a tornado unless there is debris at the ground. If it is just "hanging out of the sky, then it is a funnel cloud.

  • I really like the camera.

    -Courtney(:

  • This part of the country is just really freaky. not only is it susceptible to these storms but its really flat and wide, like an agoraphobic nightmare, and no one's around. I drove through it once and every storm looked massive. in New York, you just don't see much of a storm except a grey sky. nor is there an open space wider than 100 ft. your bound to hit something (tree building rock mountain)

  • I was in class at UT Dallas while this was going on. It was nuts... that was right on top of us.

  • Those talking tornadoes are freaky as hell! Lol...don't have those in Kansas, just the usual air raid sound...awesome video!

  • Tostitos is in Plano Texas!

  • Awesome footage!!! 5/5

  • i saw the plano municipal court FUCK them bullshit 28 hours community service for only 13 miles over the speed limit

  • lol i had just moved into the apartments youre filming on top of a week before this

  • Is that Lance Armstrong cycling in the background?!?

  • damn you must be real close to a 4004

  • 4008.

  • You can see the green in the sky.

  • @Hudson12829 the color green doesn't mean that there is a tornado

  • where's the tornado that hit during july of 2009? that was more destructive....

  • @blackberryangell Only tornadoes is Texas that I could find during July of 2009 was a weak EF-0 near Lubbock and another weak EF-1 near the Tx/La border close by Shreveport.

  • 2:04 tornado on the ground you can see the powerflashes

  • @sirensandhvaczzzszsz That could be from straight line winds or lighting bolts hitting poles/lines.

  • i live in carrollton this was bad

  • i remember that too me and friends were playing xbox when the sirens went on all lights went out it was actually kinda scary LOL

  • Oh yeah! I remember this storm in Plano, Texas! Because I live there. Dang. I felt light headed and every little electricity went out! Plus: There wasn't a tornado it was just a REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY bad storm. IT WASN'T A TORNADO!

  • i dont want my hometown to be destroyed.......

  • That was a LONG LONG time ago! It's almost a year before that happened

  • good old p-town

  • Okay. One thing. Plano did not get destroyed so why say so?

  • Ball lightning at :49

  • OH wait, nvm. It was a plane hauling ass away from the storm.

  • I noticed the gust front n and e of the wall cloud. The two apparently occluded later in the vid, but a wall cloud was unquestionably in place before the storm seemed to become more outflow dominant. The power flashes seemed to be too concentrated to have been caused by straight-line winds (I've always noted that the seem to blow rather than flash when caused by a wind event). Right or wrong, one amazing storm.

  • it was crazy in flower mound "where I live". I will remeber that day. The power was out for EVER that day.

  • i remember this we live next to plano east on 14th street i remember seeing that cloud rotating

  • Very strong ass wind inspite of a touchdown to make all thoes power flashes. Also a good barrage of hail to add? Youre so in luck to have your car in a parking garage for that matter.

  • Are you on top of the parking garage at the shopps at legacy ? lol

  • nah, that's downtown plano...you can see him filming those towers in richardson right at the beginning

  • All of those flashes arent transformers exploding, it is simply wires shorting under strong wind load. Typically the nearest upstream transformer will shut off for a few minutes and then try to reactivate the line. Transformers exploding is a whole other look.

  • Got a little windy huh? LOL

  • Teal colar is a sign of trouble

  • the color doesn't mean anything.

  • Yes 99.6% of the time does mean severe weather.I don't care if it's straight line winds or just a bad severe thunderstorm.Color means there will be something severe.Check all the reports over the last 20 or more years. You will see what I'm I'm talking about..But your entitled to your opinion..Thank you for replying

  • only that a tornado is or has just occurred. every time i have seen green or otherwise ominously dark clouds, a tornado has or was occurring.

  • green skies does not indicate that a tornado is occuring or has occured. That is a myth.

  • @twjr80 Every time a tornadic storm comes through where i'm at you will see a green look to the clouds.

  • It's a myth. Google "Does green skies mean a tornado" You will find the truth ;-) I am also a 7 year storm spotter/chaser. ;-)

  • @twjr80 I also see it with regular storms too. Thanks it's always good to hear from a actual seasoned chaser. I just wonder what makes that green.

  • Well, myself I believe that it is the light reflecting off moisture and water that is being held up in the atmosphere and clouds.

  • Wow. I was in young movements meeting when this happened. I was so freaking scared when the siren said "In sight, In Sight"

My dad had to come get me. I was scared when this happened. Poor dad, He was almost in a car crash :((

  • When you see transformers exploding in the distance maybe the tornado could be approaching. When you see debris blowing in a circular motion, you are too close to stand outside and video tape.

  • he would be the guy on the roof not in his basement

  • this was 2 days before i moved to plano...

  • Where were you in Plano? I remember that storm and I think you were near downtown plano, but I couldn't see enough landmarks.

  • I was on the 4th floor of a building in the same area and just watched transformers blow as the storm approached... had to spend 45 minutes in a stairwell until we were cleared to leave after the sirens went off and hail started.

  • Ok guys just to let u know this storm WAS EVERY WHERE AROUND THE METRO PLEX INCLUDING ARLINGTON and i was in arlignton when it happend i was hanging with my friends when it happend so it got cold REALLY FAST!!! but this storm was scary as HELL!!

  • This was a heck of a day. Tornado warning went out for Collin County 40 minutes prior to the storm actually hitting. I give Plano kudos because not 5 minutes after the warning came up on T.V., the sirens went off. Thanks for catching this on video. My wife loves this stuff!

  • a neighbor sayed that that day he saw a tiny tornado GO RIGHT OVER OUR HOUSE!!!
