actually, ron jarzombek did not write this drum part, it was written by chris adler, who was the first drummer to work on this material. when it was agreed that chris would be the drummer, ron jarzombek listened to LOG and corpse extensively to influence the way he wrote the guitars. chris adler had at least basic ideas down on what would be played, but didn't have time to do the project. derek roddy didn't want to play adler's parts, and ron didn't want to wait for him to rewrite it all...
@sebz661 if u look on rons instructional dvd, the segment about this song gives u a pretty good idea of how to play it. i hope it helps u, cuz i learned it in like a half hour
man if youre seeing a dude thinking he is a badass drummer, tell him to play that and you will see if he is a real badass drummer.... progressime music is so fucking difficult to play, you need years of study to start composing... no words for that
Well, in fact most of the drum parts were written by Chris Adler from lamb of god when he was in the band. Thats why Derek Roddy didn't stayed in the band, he didn't wanted to play what Chris wrote.
You would be wrong on that. Almost all the drum parts were written by Ron who patterned at least the early material based on how he perceived Adler's style. There were never any rehearsals with Adler where Chris 'wrote' parts. Adler, unlike Zeleny, also does not read music which made it impossible to communicate musically long distance.
You are right neither adler or Roddy can read music and they cant handle this polyrhythmic drumming (they are musicians at all ???), Zeleny is a educated drummer/musician and he can read/write music. Also he can play this complex tipe of music ( again he is a musician).
@mgt42 not sayin these drum parts are easy to play... but i fail to see why pros like adler or roddy would not be able to play this. it's difficult but not THAT difficult!
@LySergicDan Ehhh...not trying to troll, just simply stating my opinion, but I really haven't seen or heard anything from Adler that is any good. And, also, it's not really about being able to play something, but writing it that's the difficult part.
@mgt42 I'm guessing Derek Roddy reads music, check out his blast beat book, lotsa exercises + songs he wrote w/transcribed drum parts. Also in clinic he comes across as knowing theory. However, Chris Adler openly brags about his lack of reading/theory, so that explains his limitations.
Holy clipping sound batman.

He was my first thought when I heard Portnoy was leaving. Zeleny is one of the best, if not THE best, I've seen so far.

Jarzombek wrote the drums?!
mrkibbles369 2 years ago
yeah he composed all the music and sent it to alex and charlie via email and then they tracked everything online via protools
raanenbozzio 2 years ago
Actually, Alex also co-wrote music but Ron worked out all the drum parts and Charlie pretty much played to the blueprint he received from him.
