I was there too. I will never forget Mike Hailwood in a F5000 giving the v sign to Jackie Stewart who was trying to get past, while hurtling into Knicker Brook !! Fantastic stuff, thank you DrBGW
It was called the Esso Hairpin in the good old days! I was able to get there because I was a Medical Officer (and fortunately nobody complained when I used my cameras).
Oulton Park as it used to be before the 'safety' crew got to work. I was there and watched the race at Lodge Corner, when you could watch at Lodge. It is now ruined for viewing there, as there is now a great big run-off area and that prison camp fencing. I remember the Yardley BRM's (one won, I think) as you did not just hear them, but felt them as well, I cannot forget the wonderful noise they made. Those were the days, before BE got his hands on F1, and put it on its road to ruin.
Brilliant, thanks! Like m1lnr0wp00g, I was a big Rindt fan and had met him at the F2 race at Thruxton in 1970. Thank God I went to Oulton Park for the Gold Cup - he wasn't long for this world. So grateful to you for this video.
Brilliant! This was the first F1 race I went to, and was amazed by the performance of the cars. At the time, Rindt was my hero, so glad I got to see him race the 72. Thanks DrBGW
Fantastic. I saw a lot of this stuff live at the time as a teenager. Circuit safety was a little rudimentary, but what a great circuit it was before the chicane's were put in. I know you sound like an old fart when you say these things. But these really were the days. Someone should get these films to Dr Jonathan Palmer who i am sure would get them re-mastered.

Are you filming from the inside of the shell hairpin? That's incredible! Wish I was born 20 years earlier.

Oh this is marvellous! I was just looking at some photos I'd taken on that day. Great to see Jackie Stewart driving Tyrrell 001 in its first race.

I was actually there at Oulton Park to watch this race with my father and uncle.
Rindt was my hero in those days and this was his last full race, he died the following weekend in practice for the Italian GP.
His performance in race 2 was awesome, the greatest drive I have seen in my life.
