i first saw Bryan at Ahab's Whale in Spokane WA in 1981 (Dan Maher was the intro singer). anytime he came to Ahab's i'd go to listen. he's awesome on the auto-harp.
if anyone knows what Andres Segovia did for the guitar and it's place in musical expression 100 years ago, then you must know that Brian Bowers is the Andres Segovia of the autoharp, in technique, in evocativeness, and in influence
I wish! I didn't write it, it's a song written in 1955 by J. H. "Red" Hayes and Jack Rhodes. It's been performed by Bob Dylan, Bryan Bowers, Johnny Cash and many others.
P.S, the title is Satisfied Mind" and there are two more verses. A Google search will get you the whole thing. I'd post a link but links are blocked in the comments section...
Wonderful, thank you. At times recently I have felt that I needed guidance and I have discovered wisdom and insight in words like these - they have pointed me in the right direction because they are honest and come from experience. I am grateful to you.

If Bowers gets hired as the chief harapist of heaven some day I'll gladly become a Christian!

being either rich OR famous is not what it is cracked up to be.

I bought an autoharp because of Bryan Bowers! It is a shame that he is not rich or famous.

How many times have you heard someone say,
"If I had his money, I could do things my way."
But little they know that it's so hard to find,
One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind.
Money can't buy back your youth when you're old.
Or a friend when you're lonely, or a love that's grown cold.
The wealthiest person is a pauper at times,
Compared to the man with a satisfied mind.

This is a great poem - I was wondering if you wrote this yourself?
