  • my mac mini on full load 98c my 800d case at 4.7ghz barly 50c

  • Lian Li cases are nice but the only one I really like better than the Mac Pro case is the Thermaltake Level 10 full tower (it's huge and pretty pricey but oh so sweet).

  • Nice cases but they have not the design of apple

  • poeople buy macs because they look stylish, i buy a pc because i can get equal performance for half the price of a mac.

  • i love my nzxt tempest. full metal with bright leds.

  • Mac Pro cases don't have tons of hard drive bays for the simple fact, it's a WORKSTATION. If you need more drives, you use a SAN or some other kind of external array. The same reason they lack eSATA, because you'd be using a Fibre Channel card to connect to that SAN. SATA is limited in terms of bandwidth for the kind of tasks the Mac Pro is designed for, hence Fibre Channel cards and so on in the build options. Windows workstations are the same too by the way, they're not desktops.

  • @TalesOfWar

     4 drives isnt enough?

  • custom case's always look better and are better than mac pro's case. I love my antec 902 case.

  • Mac Pro case in my opinion doesn't look that cool. It looks like a fucking cheese grater with all those holes in front of it.

  • @TearsOfWar1 The cheesegrater look is a perfect example of industrial design. It's not like that to look nice, it's like that for functionality, it just happens to have nice form at the same time. It's there for airflow. The whole case is essentially a wind tunnel. It has seperated cooling compartments. Bottom is CPU and RAM, the air blows in from the front and out the back over each component, same in the middle for PCI cards, same in top for PSU & drives. It's a very quiet cool machine.

  • @TalesOfWar Actually the Mac Pro has major heat issues. It also does not run quiet. This is coming from people that own the Mac Pro and are not major fan boys. Google "Mac Pro heat problems"....

  • @TearsOfWar1 Those issues were fixed, they were related to a bug processing sound with the new Nehalem based Xeons. I've been around plenty of Mac Pro's and they're pretty damn quiet and run cool as ice. They heat the place up, but that's because the heat is being pushed out of the system, the system itself runs pretty cool considering the amount of power in there.

  • @TearsOfWar1

    cheese grater lol

    you just made my day

  • mac pro case owns in my opinion

but its up to you to decide. it's your pc erm... or mac.

  • i prefer the sexy simplistic design of the mac pro... its so much easier for me...

  • @irshyusuf

I do like the simplistic design. Apple is notorious for that

  • @irshyusuf typical idiot cares more about looks then performance/price

  • but the mac pro case is still tha nicest

  • @MrWebspirit

Yeah, but everyone has their own personal preferences which is fine.

  • Lian Li P80 is the best case of all time. It's easy to work on and can be modified to work to your needs. I powder coated mine and will probably add a radiator to liquid cool my cpu and video cards.

  • Those cases aren't designed nearly as nice as the Mac Pro. That being said I wouldn't buy either. I already have a G5 in my garage because the motherboard malfunctioned. So now it's a 50lb Mac Pro boat anchor. It's still a nicely designed case though for what that is worth.

Anyway, I used the Antec Sonya in a few of the PCs I built in the past. I think they are designed nicely. However, I don't want big machines anymore. That's why the 27" iMac appeals to me. Though, I probably get a HP Elite.

  • I don't even give the mac pro, or any mac credit for their hardware. honestly, i don't even see a viable comparison between any mac and a DIY PC, let alone the case, which is quite evidently flawed as a case for high-performance (not even sure it's fair to say that for a mac) setups and at best an average case just by viewing it at apple shops.

I use a Cooler Master 922 HAF btw.

  • It's not as much the outside as the inside on a Mac Pro. However, I don't consider it that important anymore since I'm not adding to it often. That's why I've considered a HP Elite i7-920 with 12M RAM and a Geforce GTX260. It's a mess inside but many say it's a solid, fast, and quiet system. In my experience I don't find the desire or cost savings to build anymore. I'm moving from my Core2Duo I built two years ago. How could I not be happy with the speed.

  • What's the name of the song in the background?

  • The first song? It's "My Ear's Candy feat. Taecyeon of 2PM" by Baek Ji Young.

  • @MinimeDrummerBoi

Can you email it to me I cannot find it.

I will send my email in a PM

  • Yeah I'll do that.

  • @MinimeDrummerBoi

    Thanks again.

  • No problem.

  • I prefer the Corsair Obsidian 800D

It looks more nice than the Lian-Li and Antec

I think it got some more space inside as well.

  • I have the Lian Li P80 Case and it is awesome! I would definitely reccomend it. Full aluminum and it is super high quality-

  • Yeah but it comes with a hefty price.

  • The Mac Pro does have a nice case, but for me, case design doesnt pay the bills.

My BOXX case is well organized. HDD's sit behind mainboard, everything is within reach to take out or upgrade, and the wiring is minimal..... not that it matters though. The case stays closed all the time, and the filter on the front has kept the inside clean for a solid year and counting.

    Nice vid. :)

  • Thanks.

  • Macfags don't really know that computers need air circulation, and a lot of it, and that's half the reason people get a certain case is for the air flow. Mac Pro case isn't very well set up for extreme air flow. Also I like to look at my hardware too, it looks so cool in there! :3 As I like to say: If you can't run a server from it, it's shit.

  • The Mac Pro does have huge heatsinks to compensate for the limited airflow though :)

I imagine the Mac freindly GTX285 and 4870 would be very hot in it though, not much fresh air getting to those cards :)

  • That's why I'm never satisfied with the cooling system a case comes with. I like to open the door or carve a hole into it and put a ventilation tube inside it, connected to a nice fan. :3 Or just Liquid Cool it.

  • yeah the mac pro is completely closed in on all four sides. no air holes for circulation at all.

  • Mac Fags? Wow-Those Mac Fags don't need an air vacuum because their systems are engineered for lower temps. You can't over clock Mac OS so there is no need for extreme cooling.

  • Then why is it customizable in the first place? 4 HDDs and 5 GPUs? That's going to get very hot, weather you OC it or not. And I don't even get that, why would anyone need all that for an overpriced email PC? Man this makes no sense whatsoever.

  • @Ditherliss what do you think a mac pro is it is a server it runs xeon processors

easier to access than most standard pc case as it has tray load processor tray slide

for memory etc out harddrive bays the lian li case is very good also which is good to see

macs are well thought out the g4 series was a little better with the hinged drop down side panel which had mother board pci cards on it oh yes it has plenty of airflow because the G4 didn't over heat so much unlike intel P3 at the time

  • @junkitrubbish Yeah, except it costs a million dollars for no reason. It is is no way worth it.

  • @Ditherliss hahahahaha a million dolllars may be where you are

here in australia around $3000 i agree not worth it for the average user but still a fairly well designed case

  • The mac pro looks a lot like the Thermaltake level 10 now thats a fucking crazy ass case

  • Really? It looks no where near like a Thermaltake Level 10 from what I see.

  • I think its because the little rooms remind me of it

  • I see what you mean, it's like the Thermaltake L10 with a box covering it :)

  • There are so many cases better than the Mac Pro :)

Any high end performance case from Antec, like the P182, is much better. The Corsair Obsidian too, a huge sleek case :)

I think Mac fans assume every PC case is covered in lights, fans and tacky designs, but that's certainly not the case :D

    Nice vid! 5/5

  • Yeah most of the time, they would be nit picky and bring up things like neons, plastic, windows etc...

There are really nice and simple design cases out there just Iike I've mentioned in the video.

    Thanks for the feedback!
