dude i dont get this iv been frustrated searchingCAN YOU UPDATE THE G1(WITH NO DATA PLAN) TO HTC HERO 2.1 ROM?? BECOUSE DOSENT THE HERO 2.1 ROM ASK ME TO GO THROUGH THE SETUP WIZARD TO ACTIVATE IT AND SINCE I DONT HAVE A DATA PLAN WHICH MEANS I HAVE TO DOWNGRADE BACK TO 1.5 TO ACTIVATE IT THROUGH WIFI..THUS TAKING ME BACK TO 1.6 AND BACK AGAIN TO WHERE I STARTED?? IDK AM I WRONG??

very important!!!!! Do not put the SPL before you do the radio cause it will brick your phone. Do exactly as he does in the Vid!!!!

Sighhhh...after ending the code in TermEm, and rebooting the phone after renaming the OTA file to update, the update will not work. This is what it says:

Hi, CoolPsTuts... I wasn't able to get the SU code to work in Terminal Emulator until I put a # before SU, and when I typed in the code the way it is showing in your video, it didn't work, so I had to type it like this:

flash_image /sdcard/cm-recovery-1.4.img

(since I downloaded the latest version),

then I was able to use the recovery image.

i dont know if this has been mentioned too. but u lose bluetooth and led functions on your phone. so for those who depend on videos like these about installing roms. ur in a heap of trouble if you dont know anything else about flashing roms and linux scripts. you shouldnt even be touching this

He actually forgot to tell you guys to partition your SD card in 3 parts, one fat32, one ext2/3 (for apps2sd) and the third Linux swap(at least 32mb) and if you overclock the g1 it will run fast and smooth.

This happened to me.. you have to press alt(watever), home then do the same thing next.. just make sure your press home after you press alt(whatever)

i had such high hopes for this. every time i click on an app or a widget, whenever I exit out i get sent back to the htc screen and i have to wait for it to load. it slows it down so much. such a disappointment.

The instalation for me was fast the ROM was SLOW but it worked, However 2.63 is the best version and you do! Need apps 2 sd or it could freeze your phone I turned my phone off and when I turned it back on it was stuck on the HTC screen so I went back to JF 1.51 for now, Please make the vid on apps to sd.

You don't *need* to format your card. I'm using the stock card so I didnt partition for apps2sd or swap but it did run very slow. If you don't want to partition get JAC Hero 2.3.3.

Very good video but you did miss an important step when flashing the SPL. you MUST check that your device is PVT, not DVT. Hold the camera button and power to load the bootloader. If It says PVT at the top of the rainbow coloured screen you're fine, otherwise if it's not PVT and you do flash you'll be enjoying a G1 shaped paperweight. After that's check press the red phone, green phone and menu buttons at the same time to boot and go flash the SPL. Good luck, Hero is the shit :P
