  • I've got a Gordy Custom Blueshift Bass Guitar, with twin pickups, solid ash body, solid maple neck, in mint cond, I'm told that there was only 100 Gordy Custom Blueshift Bass Guitars ever made, does anyone know what they're worth today.

Also Can Gordon Whittam ( Gordy ) still be contacted, and if so how?? Cheers Rick

  • what is the neck shape like?

  • still have to get one, someday ...

  • I own a Strat-type copy by MGC, I think MGC changed its name to Gordon Smith in 1979. Does anyone have a clue what its worth now?

  • Is that amp the laney vc-30 ?? and are you using effects, if not tell me the settings to make my Gibson Invader sound like that ??

  • @nwend no effects just laney

  • @nwend

  • what is the difference between this and the g-60 model?

  • These guitars are really good...solid construction with stable necks etc and the pickups have real character. Perhaps my favourite is a double cut LP Junior type GS1 with a single bridge P90...so simple yet plays beautifully with a strong biting tone...really lightweight too.

  • I own a lefty GS2, I've had it for over 10 years, fantastic instrument to play, but the finish is really delicate. These days it looks like it's been thrown down 12 flights of stairs, oh well, I suppose it adds to the character.

  • i reli want one of these guitars there so punk n so awsome

  • I read about this brand in a British guitar mag. Does anyone know if they're available in the US?

  • email them and find out.

  • YESSSSSS finally some respect for Gordon Smith guitars! The're awesome. I own a lefty GS2 sunburst, two cutaways and two split humbunkers. You can play every possible style with it and they have the greatest necks ever, thin, fast and rock solid. If you want to hear some GS2 sounds, please check my video's.

  • I own a Gordon Smith GS 2 with the two cutaways and 2 split coil humbuckers and I have to say that I would play that over my dad's Gibson Les Paul Standard any time.

Gordon Smith have to be one of the most versatile, easy to play and downright the best Brittish guitar maker around today. Sure they dont have the frills and spit n' polish of their american cousins but I actually prefer that, ( i love the more "worn in" look) There needs to be more coverage and promotion of these amazing guitars

  • Does anyone know if Gordon-SMith sales to the U.S.?

  • I have a gordon smith sg 1 i think, its ausome, though the previous owner replaced the coil taps with seymore duncan humbuckers. One didnt work so i put a phat cat p90 on it. Anyways sounds amazing, best guitars in the world :)

  • Thanks for the vid; I've got a Gordon Whittam(one half of Gordon Smith) Gordy strat that he built for me waaaaayy back in 1984. It's the oldest piece of musical equipment I own and would never get rid.

I walked to John Smith's workshop when I was a very unhappy junior bank clerk at Barclays in Eccles, Manchester to Partington way back in'84 asking him for a job, LOL, as my mate was on a YTS scheme with Gordon Whittam at his workshop in Altrincham then...

Sadly, Gordon no longer builds guitars.

  • lol my brother has a GS1 i think |D sorry i'm not making much sense, but my point is, they are FUCKING AWESOME. our dad swapped this awesomeish guitar for it! and i learned to play on the very same guitar

...my dad gave it to my brother...

    ...

  • I've got a left handed Gordon Smith Explorer, paid £500 for it new back in 1991....leftie was no extra cost and i got a matt black one with a black scratchplate....and i love it! I'll never sell it. The sound is so diverse (especially with the coil-taps), not got quite the same drive as gibson SG/Les paul but a greater range of tone tone. I highly recommend Gordon Smith guitars. :D

  • A lot of buzz coming off that - i that the guitar pickups or the amp?

    Sounds wonderful clean.

  • They're single coils. You can get humbuckers too. Have a look at the graduate.

  • my friend have got gordon smith gs1 00504 series number. how old that guitar can be?

  • gordon smith sounds more like gibson sg. but still its very very good stuff.

  • Gordon Smith > Gibson Les Paul

  • These guitars are amazing i was lucky enough to find a 2nd hand grad 60 for 350 dual p90s and its amazing.

  • ive got a gordon smith sg2 in matt black it fukin rocks paid £300 second hand check my channel for a look

  • oh cheers dude ,yes we have ne in the shop it rules ,coil tap thing is magic ,awesome guitar , cheers Ersin

  • @99rigsby99 Thats what i've got as well and it really does!

  • Very interesting. Nice guitars. Txs

  • i think these are quiet good guitars as your getting a quilaty instrument without paying for the gibson name i quite fancied the Graduate '60' with Tunamatic Bridge and Chrome Humbuckers. looks nice
