I also own a Hamer Explorer. Thinking about installing emg's, hard of an install was it? Sound? What year is yours, for my neck is different.

I like that Hamer Standard shaped explorer. But they costs much than slipping-in some EMGs on strats.

@keanoscarermitano619 With some adjustment and emg`s its a very good guitar. Heavy sounding. But if you got a strat, its alot cheaper to put emg`s on it;P I recommend 85-sa-60 if you want hss on your strat. Emg 81 is abit thin and sqeeky sounding on a strat;P

@kongssund Ohh. I might cancel my strat project. How about on a Tele with EMG? I think it sounds thick like a les paul with humbuckers.

@keanoscarermitano619 Well, some humbuckers may sound more "fat", but emg 81 in a light guitar can be a bit thin. I have heard tele`s with emg single coils and mid boost. That sounded awsome

@kongssund Oh. I've checked out Jim Root's Fender Tele with EMG 81 - 60 on a tele. It sounds heavy too. But what guitar will you recommend for EMG? Les paul, explorer...

@keanoscarermitano619 Ofcourse a tele can be heavy, just as a strat can be:D But emg 81 in mahgony body guitars sounds thick and heavy. It also depends on what you like, and the music you are playing
