IBRRC is a wildlife hospital, so all of our birds are orphaned baby chicks and/or have injuries. We've also collected eggs from abandoned nests and are hatching them in one of our special incubators.
When their weight and blood work is good and they can fly, we will band them with a USFWS ring and release them to the right habitat. Yesterday we released several kingfishers and green herons to Suisun Marsh, which is right behind our Center. The birds took off like a flash!

Looks like a great job of mimicking their habitat. These birds are native here, so I see them often in our wetlands. Beautiful birds.
The ones in your aviary look to be doing very well, and I'm assuming that each was brought there as the result of some sort of injury.
