  • how deep was that? i mean, u must be using full sinking lines to get down there right?

  • @baconsniffer102 The depths were anywhere from 15' to 25'. The fish can feel & see the flies a long way away because of Lake Superior's clear water. When they are feeding & aggressive they will move up. I had intermediate sink tip with a weighted fly . I do use full sinking lines when the fish are pinned to the bottom and won't come up very high to chase to a fly.

  • @mnflyfishing ahhh gotcha. do they ever come in around the old piers and coal docks out there or do they tend to stay deep? seems like there should be good cover around them for later in the summer.

  • @baconsniffer102 There are smallmouth all around the man made structures like piers and docks. There are a few hardy souls who wade the shores around Ashland. In the summer the big fish tend to either form small schools in deep water with single big ones mixed in and around the man made stuff along the shorelines. Plenty of little guys to be caught near shore, always fun catching smallies no matter what size.

  • nice fish i mean really good fish

  • Nice double!
