Yes, Sung Bong Choi's story has been thoroughly checked out and yes, there are thousands of street children who survive like he did. And the judges and audience weren't mocking him about being a manual labourer - he spoke in a slangy way that was funny. This is my favourite video. God bless you, Sung Bong. You have given so much joy to so many.

@puck8053 I rely on Korean newspapers and netizens who will have found out a lot of information about Choi. We know that he attended a high school and had some training, but barely graduated due financial troubles. He did not tell his story in the form they present to the judges. They asked for why he did not write about his family. So there is a great chance that the story behind is true. And he can sing, for sure. A humble man, and a singer with great possibilities to keep learning.
