  • Gary's voice is soooooooooo sexy!

  • Priceless!!!! And its just tonight that I discovered the incredible voice and songwriting talents of Jim Glaser. Of course even as a Big City Boy from Chicago, I was familiar with the famous Nashville D.J. Ralph Emory from watching this show on the Nashville Network. Thank you harold767 for Posting this Video & Audio gem!

  • Had the wonderful experience of seeing the still very much in fine voice Gary in Red Bank NJ on 10/14. See his show if you have a chance. In addition to a great performance, he came out to the lobby afterwards for a chat, photo, or autograph for anyone who asked. A thoroughly genuine, classy guy. Made me proud to be a fan all these years.

  • He's still hot!

  • Amen to that!

  • so good!!! fantastic !!!

  • Never have seen Gary Puckett live, but I have had the priveledge of seeing Jim Glaser perform live (wasn't too many years ago either).. He is just as good or better live than on his recordings.. has one of the most clearest voices I've ever heard.. and even now at the young age of 73, he is still an outstanding singer and performer!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sounds great to me. Can't compare what an artists does live to what he has done in the studio. He still blows away a lot of the singers we see today.

  • Classic!

    Thanks for posting.

  • I really have enjoyed watching this one but wished we could find one where the two are doing a show together or a few songs together' these two guys are amazing! Iv'e tried to sing and play this myself it is really difficult! or it's just out of my range vocally.I hope to see them in person some day soon!

  • when was this recorded

  • @mrsthelens1 This was in the spring of 1984. I saw Gary in concert earlier this year, posed him the same question. He replied: "I don't remember..... it was in the spring of 1984 I think."

Gary is one of those performers who goes out of his way to intermingle with the crowds. It was so neat to see him for the third time. His music, talent and classy style has been with me since the fall of 1969 when he peaked the musical charts. I'm so glad to be a product of the 1960s generation!!!

  • He sounds great. in this video he sounds like Gary Pucket always did. I dont know what your talking about.. He dont LOOK like he did but who does 40 or 50 years later ?

  • top stuff

  • @vangard213 Can't find yur orig. post, so can't really 'verify' if I misread or not. At his age now, some of his singing ISN'T what it once was. Sad but voices chg w/age. Even Tom J is sounding dif @ 70, tho can still carry a tune. My comments were in re:THIS video, as I thought yurs were, & he sounds perfect to me. I CAN distinguish a SOUR note (from when my voice chgd, LOL) & HAVE heard GP make 'em in later videos, but not here. Thnx for the pers insult, don't think I did that 2 you in OP .

  • Love this! and him. Brings back the innocent 60's.

  • @vangard213 Butchering? These songs are from the late 60's, it's called updating! His voice had matured & his style had progressed, to keep singing them the exact same way as old would be boring! He has a great voice with power yet has the sensitivity too when needed. A studio recording sounds the exact same every time you play it, a live performance will have subtle variations to the tunes, even if sung over & over.

  • @letmein1x Iv'e seen Mr. Puckett in concert three different times; once in August, 1995, October 28, 2008 and just this last January. His appearance changed slightly from 1969 to 1974. But from 1974 to 1995, he changed quite a bit, and then from 1995 to 2008, a lot more changes in his features. It is weird to see a star of this caliber make those changes. In my mind, I feel like he should still look like a 27-year-old. Of course we all change with age. It's just hard to accept.

  • @Helivz Not sure why yur telling ME this, but I know he's aged (I'm up there with him) & I still think he's good looking for his age. Also know he's a sweet guy, is major part of why I love him! He has feelings & they sumtimes show in his sad songs. For that reason alone, I'd marry him in a heartbeat, ANY day, no matter how old! Watch Harolds video of him (sitting on stool pix), he actually has tears in his eyes @ start of song. Love that man!

  • Hey ME4U...I have no clue what you're "smoking" but if you think Pucket's voice isn't as brilliant TODAY as it was 30 years ago...you are wrong my friend! And as far as "butchering" his own songs... you're showing your musical "ignorance" again. He is there with ONE acoustic guitar and not trying to sing the entire song, only small portions. I am a guitarist and can tell you the chords he's hitting are not easy and he's not MISSING A LICK! You're just wrong my friend! Pucket is brilliant!

  • @Kenny12554

Hey Kenny12554, I have no idea what YOU are talking about! All I did was agree with JWirtel that Gary has an awesome voice and so does Jim Glaser! What are YOU smoking that you got something else out of "DITTO"???? You need glasses or SOMETHING!

  • Are you saying that his voice is shot in this clip from 84'? If so, you're majorly hearing impaired....We should all have such deteriorated voices...This guy has a 1 in a million voice, so get over it..

  • They're looking at each other in order to coordinate their harmonies.....Gary bends and twists a lot of notes, so Glazer's trying to keep up with him....Really immature to read anything else into it..

  • @JWirtel

    DITTO!

  • @JWirtel Thank you for pointing that out! Agree 100%

  • this really was fantastic -- i'm seeing gary live with jay black in a week -- however, does anyone else think gary and jim were looking into each others eyes a bit too much while singing together?

  • @tribcz its a love thang

  • The Union Gap came to Mexico 45 years ago for a concert. I went to the concert but it was cancelled. I cried for a week, I was so in love with Gary. Finally I can watch him!

  • Love that Ladywillpower on guitar ........

  • I don't like the beard on Gary. Some guys look good with beards, but not him.

  • @arhuxtable Some don't, some do, depends on the 'viewer'. To me he looks perfect, it fits him well. 'woof' *eyebrow wiggle*

  • Fibermania, he absolutely IS the greatest!! Gary, I ADORE you!

  • Gary Pucket.... One of the absolute greatest!

  • Gary sings the ...."I don't wanna go to jail song" ;)

  • I'm seeing Gary tonight here in Sydney , Australia I have been a fan of his since I was a young bloke back in Canada. Looking forward to a great show at the North Sydney Club !!!!!!! What a treat to hear that amazing voice !!!

  • This sounds more like him.

  • Jacinta has got it right ...one of the true great voices of the 60's and 70's and he still has it now...saw him last year in melbourne and have been lucky enough to meet him twice! very nice guy and a true professional..thanks for putting this up..

  • Gary is 67 now...I had the opportunity of interviewing him for radio in 1983 (Australia) and seeing him perform at one of his shows there...was invited backstage and yes, he is a super nice guy, loved his voice since Day 1 and in my opinion is one of the greatest soft pop voices of the sixties..and I will be seeing him in concert here in Oz some time next month, after 27 years absence :) Loved this video, it so shows him as who he really is. Thanks for posting :-D

  • How old is Gary Now.... THink he looks healthy /happy

  • im 25 and love Puckett. I think his voice is absolutly amazing. This is a treat for sure.

  • I saw my first Gary Puckett concert in 1968 (my wife's and I first date) and just saw him a couple of months ago in Indiana making it our 60th time we've seen him concert. Yes, we're probably crazy but have always loved his voice and we never tire of hearing it live. Hell of a voice and a super nice guy. I've had several opportunities to chat with him one on one. I even gave him my Purple Heart medal in a display box for all of the times he's thanked us vets for our service at his concerts.

  • @nthdeegree I so envy you seeing him so many times...I saw him only once in 1983. One of a kind. He was a joy to interview and that powerhouse voice, well, WOW... his stage dynamics just blew me away, really..so I am so looking forward to seeing him here in Australia next month, have yet to decide where in Sydney and 27 years years is a long time between drinks :) What an honour, giving him your Purple Heart..am sure he appreciated it.

  • got that kenny loggins look

  • Its so cool how when Gary sings, the whole audience is totally mesmorized and there is not a sound but him and his guitar. Absolutely amazing. But...no beard Gary! I like to see your handsome dimples! :)

  • Mr. Puckett, I am your fan. your voice and your appearance. you are a very sexy man,

and I think you love women and that is a big turn-on.

  • i always wonedered which one was the puppet ralph or shotgun

  • Hey dimpledick3inch, I'm curious how you knew txmuziknut was gap toothed. The other part seems pretty obvious.

  • @alstrand You don't want to start anything that you cannot finish.

  • @txmuziknut - After all this time I don't remember what the other part was so as far as I'm concerned it's already started and finished

  • Geez that puppet is annoying..

  • He didn't appreciate that comment about ' never making it as a bass singer " Gary had a fantastic range in his voice and could handle any song well.

  • @saltifish I agree; I don't think the host understood the sensitivity of a singer's desire for vocal range. Prob. not intentional, just ignorance on his part.

  • @dimpledick3inch I would whip your ass if you were in front of me for saying that

  • @dimpledick3inch You've got the mind of a child.

  • Union Gap still going, brilliant memories, great band even without Gary..

  • Love Gary Puckett! Brings back old memories. Gary Puckett & the Union Gap!

  • My dad couldn't stand Ralph Emery - thought he was annoying. I was too young and didn't know any better. Now that I'm older, I get his point.

  • @capitalismforever lol my dad didnt like him either. He did like Gary Chapman who replaced him

  • Yes, "higher than a hawks nest" refers to how high Gary Puckett can sing, since a hawks nest is always placed very high...the host is Ralph Emery, who had a show called Pop goes the Country, and was awesome in its time. The Statler Bros sang the theme

  • hawks nest actually... great singer. dunno why hes so down on him. who is he anyway? (the interviewer)

  • The comments made by the host, about Garys voice being higher than a hogs nest ....What a stupid thing to say.

  • Are you crazy?

  • Gary Puckett is a great looking guy!!!

  • que hermoso...fantastica voz, lo amo!!!

  • What year was this show? Thanks for posting, never seen it before.

  • The duet with Glazer was awesome!

  • Jeez, what a voice!

  • He's playing a Martin accoustic guitar!

  • excellent!!! thank you harold for all the GP vids...this one and 3am especially...acoustic guitar with Gary's voice and we get the extra treat of Glaser on Woman Woman. Just fantastic!!!

  • This was absolutely So enjoyable to watch!!! Can't say thanks enough, harold, for posting this!

    Merci!

  • He sings really nice. When was this taped?

  • 1984

  • Great to see this. Thankfully, I am in touch with Jim Glaser (and the co-writer of "Woman, Woman") Jimmy Payne on a regular basis. To see Jim and Gary together on here is wonderful.

  • When was this taped?

  • Thanks for this!

  • Thanks for posting this great vid! For me, this is a classic example of what talk shows should aspire to be: the viewers get to see performers in a new light, and get a glimpse into their dimension and depth. Just what's delivered here. Many thanks!

  • great,,, great .,,, voice

  • LMAO jjjones..

  • This video sure made my day! After all these years I still love Gary's voice.

    Thank You.

  • Why is Danny Bonaduce impersonating Gary Puckett?

  • B E A UTIFUL!!!!!!!!!

  • Harold! Thank you so much for posting these GP vids.

I think Gary should have dispensed with the band and simply gone on the road as an acoustic artist. This was fabulous to see and hear.

  • Oh my word! I always loved the songs by Gary & the Gap, but I had never seen him ever! He is outstanding... so sexy & talented!

  • cant beleive this guy dosent get more hits on YT .sends me back to being a kid. long hot summers.

  • Love the clips, have never seen him with the beard - what a treat:) I saw his show tonight - tons of charisma and his backup musicians were incredibly talented as well. The audience was on their feet and he is singing better than when he was last here in the 90's. Harold I am dying to hear "wind beneath my wings" - I heard him sing it in Sydney many years ago and it was unforgettable! Thank you so much for your posts - something to treasure:)

  • You're a damn poor judge of people and talent. He looks perfectly normal and upbeat and can still sing as good as in the 60s. Sitting on a chair and playing impromptu and you say he can't sing anymore? And what the hell does the 80s have to do with anything?

  • OH! MY! GRACIOUS! An absolute treasure! As Gary himself says after singing "Woman, Woman" w/ Jim Glaser, "That's beautiful," and IT IS! How lovely! What true talent! Thank you very much Harold767 for posting this!

Oh, and WHAT in the WORLD were all these puppets doing on T.V. back in the early

80's? LOL... WHAT were we THINKING?

  • Thanks for sharing this with Gary's fans. I'm sure Gary will enjoy this as well.

  • What an absolute treat. Thanks heaps Harold767.
