It turns air into fuel. Doesn't every internal combustion engine do that? Any carburetor or fuel injection system will mix gas/diesel/alcohol/whatever with air so that the mixture can be ignited. Ram Air is stupid, and so is this car.

@fuzycheese It's a figure of speech. The Ram Air systems on these cars helps deliver cooler, better flowing air instead of the choked up induction systems of the non Ram Air type. Hence the reason aftermarket intakes are a big ticket item for most all of your vehicles on the road today...it creates a better air flow. By the way, I personally do not think my 97 WS6 is stupid but, meh, to each their own.

@Ocala92RTTT Not much, the ram air hood won''t gain you that much in the 1/4. It mostly works are higher speeds. So you won't start seeing the gains until the end. Ram air really works best on high speed tracks. And, yeah, the Firebird Formula and Trans Am are basically the same. The Trans Am was just an appearance package.

GM did this on purpose....they stop there biggest seller....the only competition for the mustang. i mean really wtf was the point in killing F-bodys. the only complaints ive ever experienced when i ask someone why they dont like them is they had too much plastic on the inside. but how hard is it to change the interior pieces to something a little more durable....i mean really the stop production for plastic.

Pontiac revamped the bonneville/grand am every 10 seconds plus they made a minivan (pontiac minivan what?) If they wouldve scaled down the company and made less but more focused vehicles GM wouldve been better off.

It was a bonehead move killing Pontiac. It shoud have been Buick or Saturn. It seemed wierd with all the Pontiac G6/8's driving around. If GM needed a fuel economy side to appease tree huggers, why not Pontiac? History proved Pontiac could make cool cars, even if they weren't fast, 81 TA anyone? Saturn makes ugly ass cars that still don't go fast. Then again, the sale of Saturn basicly meant GM didn't even want a fuel efficient car. Penske blew it when he bought Saturn and not Pontiac.

I read that GM was giving saturn the axe too or selling it and yes G6 and G8 are quite plentiful these days so WHAT HAPPENED? havent seen any new buicks rolling lately ironically and apparently there was going to be a small pontiac car that looked to me like tthe chevy aveo they were going to call it G3 or something the death of the Firebird/Trans Am has left me wounded forever but i will keep mine regardless because i love that car!

How much did you pay for your WS6 hood and where did you get it from?

$307.51 from ebay. the hood was an oem hood that was a prototype and never installed. i had to drive to detroit about 4 hrs away to get it. i bought a WS6 airbox for $115. with a few odds and ends like the maf extension, hood grills, and a blockoff plate for where the old box was, the total bill was $1250 including paint. i also had my roof panel painted at that time because of slight white spotting.

O okay man thanks. I was just kinda curious to see how much those ram air hoods cost. Doesn't seem like there's to much stuff to move around the hood in order for it to fit right.

Why'd you get a WS6 airbox when you could have just gotten a better flowing aftermarket one.

Is there any reason behind that at all?

for an LT1 there is nothing that flows better than an oem WS6 box. i didn't have to move anything other than remove the old airbox setup and an air silencer that had the headlight controller on it. once i rmeoved the silencer and replaced it with an oem piece of plastic ($20 at the dealer) that covered the whole, i then used the double sided tape that came with that plastic piece to tape the headlight controller to the plastic and tape the plastic to the car (to cover the hole)

nothing major, just what i call maintenance mods like MSD wires, NGK plugs, K&N filter, MSD cap and rotor, and a performance rebuild on the trans.

you can get an SLP hood for around $900 which is closest to the oem hood. the knockoffs on ebay are around $600 (suncoast creations and harwood) i got a steal on my hood.

Yea okay well for now i'm concentrating on getting the e/cai/h and a good tune and chrome pair of ZR1's or american racing torq thrust II's so i really do not have $900 to spend on a hood lol so i'll probably end up getting a knockoff but i really appreciate your help man.
