The best answer to your question is to simply refer to it as a "reboot" since the last 3-4 games have been unsuccessful and Hot Pursuit was one of the MOST successful, along with the NFSU series. With Criterion Games(Burnout [series], Scorched Planet, Black) at the helm, it'll be interesting to see their take on the NSF franchise. As for calling it completely new, aside from the open world aspect, go back and play NFS3 on your playstation, then watch the trailer again.

@truewiddy Nah, not a remake, but a damn good reboot. They're just goin back to their nfs roots, Hot pursuit 1&2 were 2 of the most successful games in the series. This game however will feature open environment like NFSU1/2 and the Burnout games but will be in a completely new city which will be twice the size of Paradise City from "Burnout: Paradise". I just hope they'll develop some dlc to bring back the Underground Racing League from NFSU.

Oh boo fucking hoo I won't be able to customize cars. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 was the greatest driving game of all time, and it did it because the gameplay was so fucking awesome, not because you could put 24"s on your wheels or tint your exhaust pipe. If this game is anything like Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2 it's already a winner.

The ones on the original PS1? Yes, the ones that were recently made aren't so great, but the originals were far better.

Yes, actually i've owned nearly every NFS, i quit buying them after Pro Street. That's what i mean about the originals, They we're great when i was a kid, there was nothing like that at the time, but to go back to this story/style of game just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I was really hoping for something like NFSU2 again, wich i think was the best NFS. Minus the crazy style of street racing.

I want something where you're an average guy, who goe's to track day's and drag strips and earns money, along with some job that the character may have in the game. Take most of the street racing video's you see on youtube now day's for example. You see a car on the highway, you agree to run them, then you give it 3 honk's and you go. I just want that sense of realisim. And yes police are a factor, but they're not driving Veyrons......

I don't have to wait and find out, i know it's going to, It's some insanely unrealistic story about some county where everyone is driving million dollar supercar's and so are the police? This game will be appealing too you if your 10. THE ONLY THING that will make this game decent is if the driving physics are good, if it's too arcade style this game will blow majorly.
